Talking Which would sell better?

Okay, I am gearing up for a craft show in November. Yes, November! With 3 little ones I have to take all of the time I can get so I need to start now! Anyway! Last year I did the re-inker glitter bulbs for family and they turned out really well for me and everyone seemed to love them. So I wanted to do them for a craft show this year but my dilema is what colors should I make more of? WHich ones will sell? I did the bright retro *in* colors last week (Celery, Turquoise, Pink Passion) but have also done the traditional Christmas colors. I would buy the *in* colors, but that's just me. What do you guys think? The links attached are the ones from last year and the ones from this year. Please help me out and let me know which ones I should make more of!

Thanks guys!!!

They are both really nice. I think I would go with the "In Colours" because it's different and wouldn't get lost on my tree!

Well, I like them all since I put up six trees they would all find a home on one of them... but my experience at selling at craft shows are that a majority of people tend to stay traditional. I have made some cute funky things and people always comment on them but still buy the traditonal. Hope that helps, Darc

I like funky but I also have themed trees, so I'm always looking for specific colors (usually not red or green). You could even put cute ribbon at the top to specialize them more - like priness ribbon, red hat lady ribbon, sport logo ribbon, or harley davidson ribbon - you could keep the ribbon on a few and have some to "personalize" at the craft show! That might help you sell more "funky" colors.

Good luck! They're all so pretty.

I've noticed for the last two years bulbs have been VERY popular in Purples, deep red shades and shades of blue. HTH... I love the bulbs they are very beautiful I did this one year (many moons ago) w/ craft paint. I like the re-inker idea better.

Thanks so much everyone! I appreciate all of the feedback and advice! BasketMom, that is a great idea about the ribbon! I could also do Creamy Caramel or Chocolate Chip ones and maybe put doggy ribbon on it! Thanks for expanding my horizons!! And ya know what, if nobody buys them those poor poor things will have to go one my tree at home! That's just awful isn't it!? :P

I like them all, but I think I like the "in colors" better. Is there any way you can have samples of each color an maybe take a few custom orders? I can see someone really digging being able to order their color theme for the year.

Good luck!

I was tempted to the play it safe route, but if you decorate your booth in the same colors (or have coordinating products) It would attract people to your booth. It may sound silly (and perhaps it is) but If people are attracted to the color scheme--they are going to want to take it home with them.

--Just a thought.

These are awesome! If you don't mind sharing, how are you packaging them, and how much do you plan on charging?

I like them all! Very cute. I have a ton of glass ornaments waiting for some kind of decoration (got them on clearance for a couple of pennies each).

Where can I find the instructions for making these? They are awesome.

These are gorgeous, and I like both, too. I would try to make both to meet the needs of your 'traditional' customers, as well as those who are looking for something unique.

Well, actually it's not a kind of craft show where you set up a booth. It's called Christmas around Sabina (the town where it's held). You open your home or a room of your home to the pulblic and people come in and walk around and look at what your selling. It's always at my sisters house so it is soooo nice that we can have everything set up the night before and don't have to worry too huge about clean up after! She has a beautiful old home with wood floors and high ceilings and such so it gives a spectacular Christmas vibe! We usually set up 2 or 3 trees and have tables out in her 2 front rooms. We have done really well some years and not so well other years. When 9/11 happened we barely sold anything but the next year almost everything sold! You just never know! I had planned on putting pretty ribbon on them and selling them for $3.00 each. I figure if I would pay $3 for them (being the cheapskate I am) then others would. Do you think that price is too much? Let me know! I appreciate the feedback!

The directions to make these are on the 'traditional' link. This year though I used a different brand of ornaments and they didn't work well with water so I just used 15 drops of re-inker. Those re-inkers last FOREVER! They really go a long way!

I said play it safe have both kinds. Sounds like you might have some who want traditional and others might like the funky colors.
They are gorgeous!

These are beautiful!! I couldn't choose... I'll have one of each!!!!;o))
But really I'd have to go with the traditional. I live in a house that is 150 years old so "funky" doesn't fit too good. I voted for both though because they are beautiful.

if you don't mind me asking, what kind/brand of glitter did you use? it looks like it is a really fine glitter, but I was wondering if there was a particular brand that you found worked beter or worse than others?

I think your pricing is VERY fair and I (a fellow self-proclaimed cheapskate) would gladly pay $3 for them. Good luck with your sales.

I think you could $3.50 or $4.00 for them. Or you could do a deal like $4.00ea, or 5 for $17.00.

I use the Poly*Flake polyester glitter. It is ultrafine but I haven't even tried any glitter that wasn't ultrafine. It's the kind from Hobby Lobby so when they make it half or (every 2 or 3 weeks) I just pick some up then. I did some with the iridescent last year but then tried the silver and gold and haven't gone back. The silver and gold add so much more shine! Love it! I haven't calculated but one of the 21 gram bottles will cover at least 12 bulbs. You can get them for $1.50 at half off so how can you beat that?!?
