I rubber ripped a whole heap of my stamps few years ago and I so regret it. I do have lots of UMs and I bought them simply because I loved the designs (still do) but I prefer using woodmounts, they just feel so much nicer on the hand.

This is me, too.

Dobby,

There are acrylic blocks that have wavy edges that allow your fingers to grip better. I have purchased a couple and they really feel comfortable in my hand. You might want to try one and see if it helps.

Since I discovered unmounted rubber stamps offered by CHF, Lizzie Anne Designs and Impression Obsession, among others, I have only purchased one Stampin' Up set. I have yet to unmount the sets that I already have, but I would be very happy to have the choice to purchase SU stamps without the wood blocks. I love that we have so many choices, don't you?

BUT- I had a hard time using markers on the acrylix...It didn't give me a uniform stamp/color...
any tips on that?? I use markers alot on my wood/rubber stamps-with no problems..
What I have found that works for me is using Prismacolor pencils in the same color of ink that I use. Prismacolors work great for adding more color on top of the ink or even changing colors to a darker hue. I buy my color pencils singly because I want to make sure that the lead is center and that only one type of wood was used to encase the lead. I am madly in love with my Prismacolors...can you tell...???!!!

Wow, what a tough question. I started with wood and will say with wood. I have recently tried CTMH stamps and I liked them, But I love SU.
