I was just at halmark and found them clearing out old envelopes in all shapes and colors. I got 350 for get this one cent each! Now that is a find! I always check card stores for extra stuff, sometimes they just give it away.
I was able to obtain some the same way from WalMart a while back; you just have to be lucky and know when the card reps are going to be there sorting through cards.
I talked with a hallmark rep for our local grocery and gave her my card. Now, she calls me when it is time to clear out envelopes. I have like 300 or so - no charge - different sizes & colors. I just have to fine a use for them all.
I know, I love bagalopes, and they are so easy! I made some for my girlfriends for Vday, stamped hearts on them, put those little heart candies in the bag, and voila, a perfect little gift.
Some of those envelopes are huge too, they make nice little bags.
They did a wonderful envelope mini album on Carol Duval. Sandy Genovese the genious of die cuts from Ellison Die Cuts did it actually. She had to matt board covers that were covered in paper and they she did an accordian fold from a piece a cardstock that was the width of the cover and as long as you want. The accordian pleats were about 1/2". When she was done folding the accordican, she adhered it to the covers and then glued the envelopes in the valleys of the accordian card stock.
I know that this is probably clear as mud but as I was trying to type it out I realized that you could go on HGTV and look it up in the Carol Duval show. You will also find it on the DIYnetwork.com You can look up the scrapbook show and it will be there too.
And now that I said all of that, I think I might have seen one of these albums on SCS too - You'd think that I drank a gallon of coffee today with the way I'm rambling on !! I didn't !!
Well, I hope this is an idea that you check out because it really is very cool.
Does anyone have a good idea for envelope storage? I have them stacked up, ready to fall over, taking over too much space. I don't want a huge paper holder, I think that would be too big. Any ideas?
I've got my envies in an old file cabinet. They are all lined up and I have bookends holding them vertically. I have pieces of cardboard with the sizes written on separating the different size envies. Its not "pretty" but the system works good for me.
I remember reading this post last month and was so excited when I finally came upon a Card Rep in our Krogers. I asked her what was done with the envelopes and she said for the most part they are thrown away.
Of course I asked if I could have them and she said sure. She keeps the extra envelopes behind a shelving unit that pulls out. She told me to check after every occasion because that's generally when she comes in and cleans out the stock.
I appreciate the original post...... This place is loaded with ideas!!!
My aunt owns a True Value-V&S Variety Store, and I hit her up for envelopes after seeing this post..now I have quite a selection, and my mom got some gorgeous blue ones to use for her Christmas Cards this year!
