Just wanted to let everyone know---the set is going to help even more because Lesa (SCS-Okcapitolgirl) emailed me yesterday and said that she was so touched that she wanted to do something more (and yes, she bought a set!)...so she is going to donate $1 for EVERY SET SOLD IN THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER....woohooo...

Thanks Lesa!!! How awesome of you! Isn't that awesome!!!?????

Thanks to everyone who is stepping up and helping out to find the cure for Alzheimer's. You awesome ladies have now put my Memory Walk team OVER my $2,000.00 goal for this year! So now I can enjoy the walk next Saturday without worrying over not meeting my goal. But I'm not done! I'll be collecting right through to the end of November. This is a fight worth fighting and a cause worth winning! Thanks again!

That set is super cute! I haven't ordered from Gina K. yet, but I think I'm going to put in an order soon.

Anyone who has lost someone to this disease will understand what I mean when I say that I lost my dad twice to this awful disease, first nine years ago when his memory pretty much completely shut down, and again five years ago when he passed away.

This is definitely a cause that I support.

I am sorry to hear about your father Julie....unfortunately your description is so true.
So many people have been touched by this horrible disease and tons more will because the baby boomers are getting older and people are living longer.
Hopefully they can find a cure...soon

I will definitely be supporting the cause. My grandmother just recently passed away after an almost 10-year battle with the disease. I visited her for the last time last summer to show her her first great grandchild. They were sure that she couldn't see, but somehow I felt that she knew it was me and why I was there. Or at least I want to believe she did.

Thank you for what you are doing! It means so much to all of us, as you know, who have had family affected by this disease and for those in the future who hopefully will have access to better alternatives in treatment and prevention.

Default Thank you, Cammie!

As soon as I saw this string, I went and bought 2 sets - both my father and my aunt passed away from complications of Alzheimers. It is a terrible disease and my heart goes out to all of you that have posted in this string that have been effected.

I have to say that what makes me the saddest is that my oldest niece did get to enjoy my dad when he was "Grandpa Don", but my two youngest nieces and my nephew did not...

Ok, you've all made me cry...thanks again Cammie - the set is beautiful - even my husband likes it!

Thanks so much Linda. My heart goes out to you--- I cannot imaging having to witness two close loved ones battle this disease. ((Linda))

My grandmother had demensia. I always felt so bad for her because at times, when she didn't recognize anyone, she seemd so scared. I can't imagine what it would be like to be around a bunch of people and not recognizing any of them. She must have felt so alone even though we were all there for her.

I'm so proud of Cammie and I'm proud of all of you who do runs and walks, fundraisers or just spend time with those who are suffering like this.

I really hope they can find a way to prevent this in the future. Who knows how many of us might be the beneficiary of a cure.

I just found out through a friend that the board of the Alzheimer's Association Board of Directors is matching donations through the end of September!!! Joy!
You can see the tv interview regarding this (and more about Alzheimer's disease) here:

Thanks Cyndi for passing this along!!!

I had to pop on here at work and tell you gals that donations are steadily coming in for our Memory Walk this Saturday! OMGosh... it's gratifying, humbling and incredible all at the same time. I can't tell you how many people stop and thank *me* as they drop off their donations because their lives have been somehow touched by Alzheimer's Disease and they want to do something but didn't know what. It's really very touching.

I should share my link between Alzheimer's and stamping. It was my grandmother, who had Alzheimer's, who really made me realize how much a written card or letter can mean to a person. You see, after she passed away, I helped my dad clean out her home. He gave me a case, the type that came with luggage 'back in the day' for carrying your hygiene items. Anyway, I just glanced at it and said, 'okay'. I didn't open it for weeks after I got it home. What I found in the bottom under some old magazine articles (mostly recipes she'd clipped out) was a stack of letters tied up with a string. When I opened them, I found every letter I'd ever written to my Grandmother from the time I left for college and all the years we lived out in Kansas. Needless to say, I sat down and cried as I read through each one. I still have them. They meant so much to her that she saved them through all those years... I certainly can't throw them away now. They are my most precious possession from my grandma. And they taught me that nobody is going to save an e-mail or remember a phone conversation like they will a card or letter. It was a good lesson.

There is still time to donate to my Memory Walk and it's a truly wonderful cause to support, but if you can't do that, at least mail off a card or letter to an elderly family member today. That's a wonderful cause to support as well.

We had a very nice Memory Walk yesterday in Alpena, Michigan. The rain held off *just* long enough to get everyone through the walk and the cookout and then we got a little damp loading up the tables and chairs... but that's all! We collected more cash for our team and once I get the web page updated... it looks like we'll be just about $35 short of $3,000.00 for our team! That's unbelievable to me! Our goal was $2,000.00! Thanks to the SCS ladies who contributed to both my walk and who bought Cammie's stamp set. You are helping us move towards the goal of a world without Alzheimer's Disease!
