Exclamation Why do you stamp?

I have always loved stamping. Even as a kid I loved paper and stamps. My dad had a name stamp and a date stamp and I always loved playing with these things. Guess over time it just evolved to my paper crafting obsession. Now I know who to blame it on - my dad.

Honestly, when I first heard of stamping, I thought "why would you do that?". Then I went to a class and using the Two Step Stamps is what totally hooked me--that was more than 5 years ago. Now, it's my business too, so that makes it even better!!

Because I love it! It's not extremely popular among my age group, but I do it anyways...I can't imagine a day w/out it!

Because it's a wonderful creative outlet that has a use! I can actually USE the product that I make, and sell it too, to benefit my church. I enjoy the time I spend doing it, seeing the outcome, and getting together with my friends to do it! Thankfully I have friends that enjoy this same hobby, so it really makes it nice for all of us!

I love having a creative outlet - since I don't paint, sew, or write - and I can actually justify the expense in not having to buy cards, etc!

I love the instant gratification of creating a mini piece of art in just a few minutes.

I love stamping because it makes me feel like a real artist. I'm not a very good illustrator but I'm great with color and design.

I make and sell cards so I stamp for money too.

I stamp because my career is very stressful and non-creative. Stamping (and other crafts I enjoy doing, like scrapbooking, crochet, jewelry making) really gives me a creative outlet to relax with!

I stamp 'cause I love colouring, but don't like drawing as much. With stamps, I don't have to draw; just colour! I started making cards when I was very young, with just typing paper folded in half and drawings on the outside. I made these all the time, for no particular occasion. So now, stamping to make greeting cards is just too perfect for me!

Me too! Can't draw my way out oaf a paper bag, but with stamps I can still feel very creative.

Plus it's a relaxing stress-relieving hobby for me. My DH cannot believe that I've stuck with it for more than 2 years. My abandoned basement hobby center that now holds a graveyard of half-finished craft projects of every kind is a testament to my usual short attention span when it comes to other crafts. But stamping caught me and keeps holding my attention! I just love it!

I have always been creative. As a young girl I used to collect 'fancy paper' and erasers, I loved to colour. I kept up my collection into my early teens, and moved into making earing with beads. Late teens I still loved it but I was at boarding school so was not able to do it. Early twentys I spent socialising and going to college but mid twenties I took up cross stitch, and from there I started card making and rubber stamping.....10 years on ... I am still doing it. I have I guess always loved pretty paper.

I have always liked to make cards. Even as a child, with construction paper, markers, and yarn...I was making cards.

Plus, I made a card the other day for a friend who him and his wife are expecting their first child. He emailed me yesterday to tell me that they had bought a frame for the card, and were hanging it in the baby's room. They were so thrilled to get a card that was made with love. That made my day...probably even made my month!

I love stamping, it is a great stress reliever for me. The fact that I can also make other people happy with what I make, that is the icing on the cake!!!

Happy Stampin'!!!

Instant gratification, coloring, (I always wanted the big box of Crayola crayons w/the sharpener built into the box), it's fun, people like them, I like doing it and get to use my creative talents, stress reliever and very calming.

Well I started as a scrapbooker...then my husband's aunt invited me to a stamping event and I was hooked...mostly because it was a quick fix....I could get the satisfaction that I would get from scrapbooking in a fraction of the time! Now I use stamping in my scrapbooks and intermingle all the time!

I too have a large bin of Crafts of the Past and a sewing machine and some crocheting somewhere. Stamping is great because I can complete a project in a short amount of time and I no longer need to go to the store to buy a card on the way to a party. The hour I used to spend looking through cards at Hallmark I now use to look through the gallery for inspiration.

I also feel like the end result of a stamped card is beautiful. I like to tell customers, I am creative but not artistic which is why stamping calls to me. Someone else can create the artwork and I just need to color and layer it

Do we have to have a reason to stamp, it's like shopping, FUN.

I never thought I had any creativity in me until my sis got me hooked on stamping. Yikes..I found a second talent along with it...spending too much $$$$$. Gotta have the biggest pile of stuff to be the winner right...lol Anyway, I make cards for the Soldiers, supply cards to my church for birthdays, anniversarys etc and soon for selling to get $$$ for their land fund. And I sell a lot of the cards I make too (not the ones you lovely ladies send me for the soldiers . In Nov and Dec I made close to $2000 on the cards I sold...still going strong. My hubby is now selling them at work too. The money I make goes into postage, cardstock and adhesives for the soldier project. Blessings.

1) Time that's just for me
2) That Zen feeling you get when you just concentrate on a project
3) Creative outlet, it's the only artistic thing that I'm not totally horrible at.
4) Being a part of this community!
5) Satisfies my need to "collect", just having all the stuff is half the fun!

Oh yes. Ditto to that one too. How true, how true. Yes, on this one. Oh boy hooked, yes. Absolutely. Right on! Yes. Another ditto.

I was just shaking my head in aggreement the whole time reading all these and they all fit me to a perfect 100%.

I started very young with little red rubber animal stamps with the ink in the holder. Remember those? You can still find them around.

I got a friend started in a class many years ago and the first thought from her, before the class, was that she thought it was a collecting postage stamps class and wondered why on this earth I would invite her. . . . . . OH yes, she is now hooked and a SU demostrator. We stamp together.

I come from a family where my Mother and siblings all can look at something and can draw it. I have to explain my stick figures . I guess that gene skipped me. I always say " I cannot draw therefore I stamp"

I jumped from craft to craft too and they have lost my attention in time. This one sticks! I enjoy creating and teaching it so much. I even moved most of the other stuff into the kid's craft closet. I love that I can finish a project fast. Time is not so free with 5 kids in the house.

Because my dear doctor told me I needed a hobby to relieve my stress from school administration! Unfortunately, it does not make all my purchases a medical tax deduction - HA! Besides I also love to stamp/scrap, hoard my supplies, and make messes!

Default I stamp

because it helps me to unwind after a very hectic week. I love trying the sketch challenges because they help bring out my creativity. I also enjoy participating in stamping swaps and the Wish RAK.

Swaps afford me the opportunity to share my work with others and give others the opportunity to share their work with me. I just received items from a Spring and Summer Catty CASE. The cards look great in the catty but they look better in person.

Granting wishes in the Wish Rak is the most fulfilling part of stamping. There isnít anything like making someoneís day with the wished for items. It is also great seeing the projects people make with the items I send to them.

When life throws you a curve,
STAMP and SCRAP

I feel like I could be a "real" artist when I stamp. I was always the kid who had a stack of coloring books and crayons, and loved to do all kinds of other crafts (still do), but I could never draw. Now I can just stamp a beautiful image and start coloring and I'm 8 years old again. After a long day of laundry, housework, and keeping up with a kiddo it is fun to just sit and play. And the fact that I can make money off of my hobby doesn't hurt either.

I like using that time to hash out any things that may be bothering me, because for the most part when I sit down to stamp my little girl is in bed, and my hubby is either in his office or in bed, so I get a little bit of peace.

Finally, it is a way for me to connect with my girlfriends. I have my customers who come to classes and have fun, but then I have a couple of close friends who come over and make a pot of coffee and we just stamp and visit and catch up, all while "oohing" and "aahing" over each other's stuff. It is better than therapy in my book!

I so agree---I call stamping my *therapeautic recreation*!!! I spent yesterday with 2 friends---stamping, chatting, and snacking! We always have a great time and get together monthly. We share ideas and supplies. Time away to do what I enjoy is essential to me! Love reading everyone's responses!

I never saw myself as an artist until I discovered stamping and card making. I can't draw or paint AT ALL, yet I'm good with color and design, so stamping allows me to quickly create a little piece of art. The best part is that I can share my art with those I love AND make a little money on the side to fund my hobby...habit...okay, addiction!

I love to create things. It's so cool to take nothing (i.e. cardstock, ink, embellies) and make something!

That's also why I love to cook, cross-stitch and scrap!
