I've always been creative and this is just the latest way I've found to express myself. Besides, it's keeping me out of the bars.

When I first started many years ago, I thought it would be a way to save money - HA! Now it is a form of relaxation for me, and I use many of my cards for co-workers to add a personal touch on special occasions.

For all the creative reasons mentioned in this thread, to give a little gift of myself in each card I give to someone, to have a hobby that I actually feel I'm fairly good at but also, and this may sound bad, but what the heck...
I like the compliments and oohs and aahs that I get, it boosts my ego.

Merry Christmas to all you wonderfly fabulous card makers!

I have really enjoyed reading these posts and reasons why people stamp, make cards, scrapbook.

For me, I love being creative, I love following design trends, I love putting colors together, I love tying satin ribbon, placing the final finishing touch on a card to make it *just right*, creating tiny little pieces of art. I also think I was born to design with paper, lol! As a kid one summer I ran a little stationery shop selling stamped post-it notes to my family for 25 cents... it's really funny to me that I've come "full circle" now, re-discovering this hobby and now having an Etsy shop. It's a wonderful feeling to share my handmade items with others, and just as awesome to share this fun hobby with fellow crafters!

Default why do I stamp

My daughter growing up went to all of the Stamping gatherings, stores with me. She is more of a scrapbooker than a stamper but enjoys stamping as well. She is overseas in the Air Force. (currently in Iraq). Sending her a stamped card helps me keep in contact with her and share something we enjoyed together. She keeps all of the stamped cards she gets. She puts them up on her locker. During December I sent her a Christmas card almost every day. Now I send her Winter cards. No snow in Iraq and there will be no snow in Okinawa when she gets back there.

I make lots of cards to send to my daughter but very few for others. I will usually make 10 Sympathy cards at a time. I make my Christmas cards in the summer.

In post number 24, I was being facetious about stamping to get out of doing houswork. Yes, I do manage to avoid housework, but eventually it has to be done. I see that for most of us it is an expression of our artistic selves. Also, for many of us, it ends up being a service or ministry of some sort. And also an important way of appreciating our family. Especially for someone like Jo. I commend you on blessing your daughter with cards while she is serving her country. Happy stamping to all and a very blessed Christmas!

It's my time for myself. Time to be creative and to share something that I put a lot of thought into.
