Default Where to buy acetate

I was wondering where everyone gets their acetate. I have looked at Ben Franklin but didn't find any. Can anyone help?

Acetate is basically overhead transparency sheets. You can get it at any office supply store, such as Staples. I buy the generic Staples brand.

If you don't need a 50pk or 100 pack, go to the copy center of those stores and ask for a few report covers or transparecies. They will sell them to you by the sheet.

I got mine at Office Depot, and I paid about $7.75 for 60 sheets of their own brand (it was a bonus pack - 10 extra sheets). They were called "Write on transparencies."

One thing I found out...if you're not going to run them through a printer/copier, then don't buy the more expensive ones designed for that purpose -- they not only cost 3x as much, but aren't as clear, probably (my best guess is) because they have some kind of added coating which allows printer/copier ink to "grab." ?? The ones I bought were crystal clear, and worked like a charm for ornament-making. I also plan to use them for shaker cards, etc. But again, remember that the write-on kind can never be used in a printer/copier.

Thanks, Glittergal, for the tips. I was thinking I'd read on SCS somewhere that the kind of transparencies that CAN be run through a photocopier can also be embossed without the heat gun damaging them--that might be something to consider. Have you tried embossing on the kind designed to be written on?

Rubadubdub (love that name!) -- nope, I haven't tried embossing on it, but you've got me intrigued now. I'm going to try it tonight and I'll report back. I did emboss on the copier/printer stuff and it worked, although it did warp the acetate a bit. I remember I wasn't too impressed with the results (I tried it on an ornament insert) and ended up throwing it away.

HMMM... Sounds like a lot better deal at office depot. I bought some at Walmart, and the only ones they had were for printer/copiers. They were like 6.96 for 10, yes they were more expensive, and you could emboss with them without any trouble. Will be checking on the clear ones. Thanks for the info. But in a pinch Walmart had some, when I was looking. I also bought a ten pack of clear glass bulbs there for 1.88 which i was really happy.

I saw them at Wal-Mart where the computer paper and Avery labels are. I can't remember the price but I do remember that it was cheaper than Office MaX.
