I was widowed at 40, and am so happy that I found love again and have a wonderful husband to share my life wtih.. I feel like I have a second lease on life. I am also thankful for my family, friends and a job...I am blessed.
So glad to hear that you've finally over the post-op pain, Melissa.
Today I am thankful that the woman who ran a red light and knocked DH off his motorbike didn't hurt him beyond a bit of bruising on his leg. Let's just hope she's actually insured because his bike didn't come out of it so lightly.
Five healthy kids
DH has good job in the Navy, no bouts of unemployment like so many we know
Eye surgery went well, sight is restored after a year of cataracts

That is TERRIBLE! Sheesh! It could have been a lot worse ... a whole lot worse!
Is the bike insured? A couple years ago I was rearended by a guy who had no insurance and neither did his passenger, an acquaintance who owned the car. My insurance took care of it and waved the deductible as part of the "uninsured motorist" plan.
Yes, DH has the bike insured. But since the accident was entirely the driver's fault, it should be her insurance who pay - IF she's insured, which he isn't too sure of. The garda (police) want to charge her with unsafe driving, as there were a couple of witnesses. I'm just so thankful that he wasn't really hurt himself - your thread couldn't have been better timed. What with car problems and central heating problems and plumbing problems (you get yours fixed?) it was easy to focus on the bike repairs and not be grateful that DH doesn't need any body repairs himself .

This is exactly what I'm thankful for too! I'd add one more thing tho! My pets! They bring me lots of joy!
I am Thankful for family! I am thankful we are employed and love our jobs! I am Thankful for for my DH and wonderfully healthy 3 grown sons! I am thankful for our furry friends!
I'm thankful for so many things...my God, my husband, my mother, my sisters...my family...my husband's family....a roof over our house that is paid for....my job...my health (other than a few broken bones this year - I'm healthy)...my husband's health!!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone...hope you have a wonderful day and that you get to spend it with your families....
Oh my ... I just realized that in my first post I wrote that I have "MOST" of my parents. Duh! I have BOTH of my parents! And I don't know what I'd do without them.
In October, my mother spent four days taking care of me after my surgery.
And Sabrina, yes, I did get my plumbing problem fixed ... thanks to my dad. The shower faucet stem had been stuck in there for 32 years and it was so corroded that I could not get it out. The job took him and my youngest son four hours and a couple trips to the hardware store. Thankfully, I did not have to call in a plumber.
I'm thankful for my God, my husband of 35 years, my daughters, grandchildren and my freinds. I no longer have my Mom but I am thankful that God picked her to be my Mother. I'm thankful for all of my friends here on SCS. Thankful for my health. Oh and I am thankful for my dog and our horses. They enrich my life.

I had a giggle last night at *most of your parents*, contemplating the various possibilities, but did reckon it was probably a typo ;).
1) That Jesus is in my life and watches over and protects us always.
2) That my DH has a fabulous job.
3) That DH allows me to be a stay at home wife to him and mom to our two pups
4) That my parents and son are happy and healthy
5) That I have amazing friends
6) That there is a place like Splitcoaststampers for people to go and voice their opinion, get help on whatever it is that they need and share their creativity.
Love this thread! I'm thankful for my faith, my family and my friends, always. This year I'm especially thankful that my son, who has a visual impairment, is constantly showing improvements and has a team of wonderful doctors that we trust and who truly care about his progress. I'm thankful to my husband for taking on the financial burdens of being the only bread-winner so I can work with our son every day and take him to the specialists he needs. I am also thankful that we will soon be welcoming a new baby into our home (she's due in 2 weeks!). We have so much to be thankful for this year and every year! Thanks for the reminder!!
I am so pleased to see so many people who are not shy about their thankfulness for God and their religion!
After more than a decade of working in a VERY secular job, where the majority of employees and bosses are extremely liberal (except when it comes to religion, conservatism, etc.) I have developed a major fear of even mentioning the subject.
I am so thankful to be so very blessed..
I am thankful for my faith and the freedom to openly worship.
I am thankful for my loving supportive husband, and all of our family members - and thankful that all are doing well in troubled times.
I am thankful for our military who sacrifice so much to defend our freedoms.
...and so many other things that make life beautiful, even when we stress over little things.
Right now I am especially thankful for my dh who loves to putter and is carefully putting up the Christmas lights
.
Sabrina, it is good to hear that your DH is ok, and we hope the bike will be replaced soon.
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK but we do have Harvest Festival which is when we give thanks to God for all that he has given us. Apart from God, I am grateful for my Husband . I am sure when he took the vow 'In sickness and in health' he did not expect me to become disabled, but he has never once complained.

I LOVE Christmas lights - wish I could see yours .
Not holding my breath on DH getting his bike back quickly - he's still waiting for a repair quote from Ducati for when someone knocked his bike down in the car park at work about two months ago . But he only gets a replacement car from the insurance for two weeks so he'll be pressing them to do it quickly.
Today I am thankful for a beautiful bright sunshine day on my day off; I was able to go to the park and enjoy all the autumn splendour. We have a small flock of mandarin ducks there at the moment, and they make me smile so much every time I see them.
I'm very grateful for all the friends that I have made from being involved in forums like SCS. They have been every bit as supportive as any friends I've had in my everyday life.
After a year of marital problems, I'm very grateful for:
* My family who has helped me emotionally & financially
* My wonderful kids who have been a great motivation to look forward to the future & not hold on to the bad stuff of the past
* My awesome friends that have held me up in so many ways, and found me a new home
* The other wonderful people I've surrounded myself with that have held me up when I needed it
* God for helping me get through the most difficult situations I've ever had to so far, and making the good things happen from this.
I am Thankful for a warm cozy home
two faithful , loving dogs
my best friend , therapist, confidant, and my new found courage ( my horse Sonny)
second chances !
Over 50 years ago, when I was a kid, my family spent 2 years doing mission work in Liberia, W. Africa.
The Christian radio station , ELWA,(Eternal Love Winning Africa) was destroyed in the early 1990`s during the civil warring that was going on there. I heard horror stories of what was going on there via a Christian radio station here in the US.
TODAY I recieved an email from another person who had also been in Liberia just before we were...and he sent me an update on ELWA . They are up and running again and lives are being changed forever because of the work Christ is doing through them.
THAT IS WHAT I AM THANKFUL FOR TODAY!!! - Linda
Wow! It is so nice to read about what people are thankful for, escpecially those who give thanks to God. He is central to my life, and I thank Him for everything in my life. Thank you, SCS for this thread!

That's what freedom of religion i all about. Remember, though, that it also includes your workmates' freedom to have no religion. I think people tend to forget that to be an atheist or agnostic is also part of that freedom. Most of our founding fathers were of that ilk, but today, no politician seeking office would dare admit that. How sad. What wars or human attrocities have been committed in the name of atheism?
That being said, I am thankful for my wonderful family. I have a loving husband, three fine children, and a fantastic in-laws. I one my life and the beautiful work I live in. I am truly lucky!
What a great thread! It is inspiring to see what others are thankful for. I feel thankful that God loves me and gave his son to die for my sins. I am so thankful for my family, husband, kids, grandkids and 2 great grandkids. I am thankful for food, a warm home, transportation, and ways to communicate to loved ones who don't live near by. It is a great blessing to me to be able to stamp and learn new ways to do it via Splitcoast. Thanks to all of you who post ideas for us!
I'm thankful that I still have my job after 30 years. I'm thankful for my daughter who is a registered nurse and takes care of sick people. I'm thankful when the sun shines, it makes my day better. I'm thankful that my husband is no longer suffering and that God was gracious enough to call him home this year.
I'm seeing a bit of a trend ... a lot of thankfulness in the middle of sorrow. Sometimes, we need to sink to the depth of despair before we appreciate rising out of it.
I'm so thankful that my husband is recovering after having a heart attack six weeks ago and a triple heart by pass while we were on holiday with my son in San Francisco, and grateful to the staff who cared for him in seton medical centre in daly city.
I'm thankful for my two sons and daughter in law, that they are healthy and have good careers and my lovely grandson , also for the lovely life we have being retired here in Spain and for having good friends and neighbours.
Here in Canada we have already had our Thanksgiving Day. I was thankful for these things then, and still am thankful for them now:
- the fact that my 86 year old father in law was able to survive accidental ingestion of poisonous mushrooms (thanks to the University of Pittsburgh medical centre for sending over that experimental drug!)
- my husband, daughter and son - they bring me joy every day
- the roof over our heads, the food in our bellies, the clothing in our closets - and the ability to see that we are blessed with so much and need to give to others less fortunate.
Every Thanksgiving, we recite these (paraphrased) lyrics to a song by the band Starfield as our grace:
Let us not be blind with privilege,
Give us eyes to see the pain,
Let the blessings You've poured out on us
Not be spent on us in vain,
Let these lives be used for change.
We will go, Lord, to the world,
To the lost, to the poor & hungry.
Take everything we are, we're clay within Your hands,
We will go, Lord - send us.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

In all of my years and all of my travels and all of my jobs I have never met a more generous, kind and giving community then that of the stamping community. I am thankful to have found this wonderful expression of creativity and all the endless hours of joy that it has brought to me through making cards, (either by my self or in classes), visiting in the local Scrapbook store, spending hours on Splitcoast looking at others creative masterpeices and becoming inspired by them and going to the forums and reading about all things card making and sharing ideas. (sentence waaayyy long!) Stamping has changed my life in so many ways! It is my greatest passion (besides my DH)! I am soooo thankful for my DH who is the love of my life and how hard he works. I am thankful for our health (our greatest wealth) and for our chiildren and my 4 legged children that bring us so much joy and unconditional love. I am thankful for my faith as it has helped us through some very challenging times. I am thankful for a positive attitude and for all the love in my life! Every day brings the possibility of a miracle and I am so so blessed!
I am thankful for everything I have that those less fortunate than myself do not have. My health, my children, my parents, my wonderful soul mate. The list goes on and on...
I'm thankful to live in the country and be in good health so I can walk every day. I'm thankful that my dad can get free talking books from the Library of Congress (he had macular degeneration, and we were all getting a bit tired of him listening to political talk radio all the time). I'm thankful for our DVD player & DVD's. Not having television reception makes us more mindful of what we watch. I'm thankful for our public library. I'm thankful for our local vet taking care of my brother's cat, Gandhi. She had a really bad abcess on her face, which finally healed. Unfortunately she is back at the clinic today with an infected eye.
