Arrrgh, a part from my "lumpy" lotion I have decided at this late stage of the game to try my hand at needle felting. I saw this at a craft sale and fell in love with them. I walked away saying "I can do that." Google it to see what the heck I'm talking about. I'm going to try my dog, and a wart hog.
And then....while I was in the knitting store of course I had to buy a patterna and wool for an earflap hat and thrum mittens.

I made the brown sugar scrub that someone posted. It smells amazing! Now I need to decorate the jars, and I'll have some nice little gifts.

Hi,

Not sure if I missed anything about coasters..but I have bought the square and round coasters with the tiny 2010 calanders to go w/them. I saw a link once w/ an example..but can't find it again..Anyone have any ideas for coasters? It is the chipboard thickness ones. I can do ornaments, make them to have a back to sit on a desk, like a picture frame stand back or put picture; etc. on them..any ideas?

Thnx.. JOY

Ps..do you have to put modge podge on them to seal them always?

Prairiejen, I'm going to try and make some lotion tomorrow, and will take a picture of what it looks like after it is all mixed up so that you can see what it should look like.

I think there were some examples on this forum and I'll try to do a search because I plan to make them too. I have seen several different types, including making 12 months on 6 coasters and spiral binding them. But I plan to make them with the whole calendar on the front of a decorated coaster and either put a magnet on the back to place on the refrigerator, or I have also seen them made with using a matching decorated large binder clip as a stand for a desk top version. I will be right back with an example or two if I can find them!

Joy4lly, I went directly to the gallery because I had problems trying to search for them in this forum. But here are a bunch of ideas for the coaster calendars. Now, if only I can find a little time to start making them before Christmas!

Here is a cute idea using a binder clip to hold the calendar into place on the coaster plus it is an instant hanger!

Default Denise's Lotion

Ok Prairiejen, here is the lotion. The first picture is of the ingredients that I use, it makes HALF of the recipe. The second picture is of the vaseline, "creamed" before adding the Vitamin E lotion and the baby lotion. The third picture is of the finished product. My hands are so soft after making this! Hope this visual helps you!

I have used nighttime baby lotion with lavender - it turned out ok - and I have used almond shea butter (from Family Dollar) which so far this is my favorite and will never make the other scents again!

These are coasters I made into Ornaments to swap at Regionals. I have made the square ones into magnetic calendars. They sold really well at the Craft shows. the two on the left side are mine not the soft suede one.

No, I've not done it but according to some who posted last year on here they did, just make sure you use unscented lotion. One poster stated that she divided her recipe into three, and used a different scentfor each one. Start with a small amount, you can always add more if you need to.

I found the recipe for Denise's Lotion last year, and have made it several times. I usually buy a scented lotion that I like (on sale) from Bath & Body or Avon or wherever. It works great. I tried the lavender scented baby lotion and didn't like it very well. I DON'T like regular baby lotion smell. This works for me and the people I give it to as gifts like it as well.

I, too let it whip in my mixer for awhile... fluffy!

I've also used a citrus, shimmery lotion in mine once and it was divine!! Totally decadent!

Mary, that was very nice of you to post pics of the lotion in production. I think I used the Vit E lotion last year instead of the cream and that's why it came out so less thick.

I have gone out and bought all the ingredients and am ready to try again.

I get my coasters here: http://www..com/coasters.html
I use the 3.5 x 3.5 heavy weight. Sold a ton of the binder clips ones at my recent shows. here is the link to my blog with the calendars...also made magnetic ones too.
http://bethybrat-bloomingwhereimplan...calendars.html

If anyone needs some of the pre-printed calendars, I have some that I could send to you! Just pay the shipping/postage. I ordered too many this year since I got a break on the shipping...and my craft shows are done for the season

HTH!

I use the essential oils from Bath & Body when I make my lotions. I make a trio (all same scent) of the lotion, bath salts and sugar scrub and package as one gift. I bought all different scents of the oil (I think they are $7) but it makes a lot.

Just a FYI, York has changed the way they package their peppermint patties, they are now in a wrapper that looks like a silver pillow. If you want the round, wrapped ones, you will need to switch to another brand called Pearson's. I don't know if they are a tasty as the York ones.

I made the needle felting animals and would love to show them to you. However, I don't know how to do the thumbnail attachment like the posts before showing the lotion? How do you do that?
My lumpy lotion is on it's way to my ds's teachers (they won't mind)
I made a felted, yellow lab and a warthog. I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how.

Jen, if you hit the 'go advanced' button below the comment box, it will take you to another comment box with all the frills on it. Type out your message, then click on the paperclip at the top of the box (attachments). This will open another window, and you can hit the 'browse' button to look on your computer and choose the picture. Hit upload, wait for it to show up. Make sure your cursor in the body of the message is at the end and then click on the attachments paperclip again, and it should be there Click on the file name and it will insert into your message.

Good luck.

I made a really easy file in Publisher that can be printed out and then just cut down the center (at 4.25"). I've attached the PDF version.

Here's a link to the Publisher version:

Just popped over here to get some ideas and this is great. Thanks so much for sharing!

Ladies I need HELP

I know I've seen it on one of these threads but I can't find it now - you know how it is when you want something you can't find it. Anyway - I need tutorials for altered file folders. I have the folders which are already decorative and dsp to use inside. My biggest question is how do I keep the bottom fold up. I'm thinking I need to add a grommet or something on each end to put the ribbon through and that would help to hold the bottom part up but I'm not sure it will help it in the middle. I'm planning to make some of these for gifts and need to make them ASAP so I can deliver them early next week at the latest.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. PMing me will be just fine as well.

I knew I had seen it on this site but when I went to resource and searched for altered file folders it said there was no such thing.....so I went to my opening page and typed in altered file folders and it sent me to the Splitcoast site and the tutorial.
Hope this helps.
