Default What sentiment do you REALLY wish you had...

So. I've found that there's a few sentiments I REALLY want to own. Ones that are just perfect for so many things. So. You want to share that sentiment that you have seen and really, really, really want to add to your stash?

One of mine is:

Oh, the places you'll go. (Dr Seuss)

I think that I am good at looking at sentiments and sayings thanks to the internet.

1. Pain, pain go away.
2. How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?
3. Smile when it hurts most.
4. Don’t waste a minute not being happy. If one window closes, run to the next window
or break down a door.- Brooke Shields

But I am looking for neat sayings that envolve what owls say. To go with the cutest owl die made by Elizabeth Craft

I would like to see "I'm so proud of you"..."Way to go"...." Good job"..."You did it!"...."That was nice of you." (without saying thank you)...Basically, encouragement stamps to send to kids.
Southgirl, I really like your #2 and #4!

There are 2 sentiments that I would love to see as stamps:

1. This is your world, shape it or someone else will.
2. If you are in my life I am inspired by you in some shape or form.

Thanks to you all for sharing these sentiments! Currently, I'm using my computer a lot for generating these types of thoughts for inside my cards. There are so many great looking free fonts available, and it's easy to type the sentiments out on a folded sheet and put the insert in the card.

There is a wonderful list of Sentiments for Inside the Card in the Downloads forum, and I also keep my own list of sentiments that I like in a document on my computer. I carry a small notebook in my purse, and frequently look at cards when I'm out shopping, and jot down appealing sentiments to add to my list when I get home.

I use my basic sentiment stamps, like Happy Birthday, Thinking of You, With Sympathy, etc. for the front of my cards, and then type most of my sentiments for the insides. Occasionally, I will type the sentiments for the outsides, too.

One sentiment I would like is most likely never going to be around, unless I have one custom made. I don't drive, and my hubby works lots of overtime. When I can schedule in advance, I use the city paratransit. But, I frequently get rides from friends to the store, church, doctor appointments, etc

I would like "Thanks for the ride" or "To My Favorite Limo Driver" (I call the para transit buses my blue and white limos)

I also use a scooter wheelchair to go around town myself in good weather. I need a stamp that says Zoom Zoom!

Default Sentiments from the computer

Hi,
I know this is going to sound like a really stupid question, but If you are creating sentiments with the computer how do you get them onto the card? Do you just print them out on white paper, cut a rectangle and paste it on? I'd like to use computer generated sentiments, but I'm stumped how to get them on the inside of the card and still look nice.

thanks,
mob

Here's how I do it when I do that...

Make sure your printer can handle cardstock.
In your word processing program, type up your sentiment, change the fonts and size to what you want.
Adjust the margins to place your sentiment where you want it. Print on scrap printer paper and play with the location until you get it the way you want it.
Print on your cardstock.

If you're printing to cut a layer, adjust to fit printing where you want it when you cut your layer.

It takes a bit of fiddling, but it can be done.

Fionna51,

So, you're printing on the same cardstock that you'll decorate the front of?

I need to learn more about Word. I've never been good at calculating what the margins should be in order to get a phrase in a particular location.

Thanks.

Inside of all my cards I cut a piece of computer paper 5 1/4 x 4 and stamp my sentiment on it and use tape to put it inside. I do this with computer sentiments all the time.

In order to get the sentiment to line up properly, I print it on copy paper and tape the card with painters tape to the copy paper, covering the sentiment. Run the paper and cardstock through the printer again and it should line up perfectly.

Another alternative is to print the sentiment on cardstock and use a punch or scissors to cut it out and adhere it to the card.

I create my sentiment then print on plain old typing paper. I use a temporary adhesive, hold the cardstock up to the light at a window and position the cardstock on the typing paper. No calculating. I then run the typing paper with the cardstock on it back through the printer. This works for printing on a one layer card front too!

I too get quotes on the internet. I print them on copy paper. Then cut them to a shape I like and tape them in the card. Of course, I add embellishments.

I have a couple of ways I do this - for mass production type things (like invitations) - I have a couple of Word documents I set up (one for landscape, one for portrait) with tables, so I can fill in my sentiment, print a mess of them out on cardstock, and cut them apart.

For single cards, I print on a sheet of paper that's not as flimsy as regular copy paper, but not quite as thick as cardstock (I think it's 28 lb paper). Then I run it thru my Big Kick with one of my matting basics dies and glue it to the inside of the card. I used to just cut them with my paper trimmer, but once I caved and bought the dies, I'm going to be very sure to get some use from them!

I've used the ways others have shared to print sentiments on the inside of cards.

I also frequently print sentiments on white card stock for the outside, cut them with a die, or hand cut and mat, and put them on the front of my cards. Here are some examples in my gallery:

I've seen lots of "From our home to yours", but I live alone and would like the option of saying "From my home to yours". I would make more sense for anything I would send. I cobble it together with other stamp sets, but I'd like it to be integral.

Oh, on the subject of printing sentiments; if you scan your die at 300 dpi, you can do your text right over it in another layer, so you know it will fit. Just make the die scan layer invisible or non-printing in your PSE or other software.

I hope I'm not repeating something that was suggested upstream.

I can't write my sentiments down I will offend. Anybody else thinking that? ROFL.

Most cards I make for my friends I make sentiments just for them. Since we are all gaming geeks and a group of us were street kids. You can imagine what sentiments I need.

The biggest ones I want right now are a catchphrase from Franklin in GTA V. I can't write it because I will get kicked off of here, lol.

I would love Grumpy Cat sentiments.

Harvestmoon,

This set has some of the sentiments you mentioned, and is geared to kids: https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/...ddo-stamp-set/

And Fiona51, this set has your phrase, but is a bit more geared to pocket scrapbooking: https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/get-lost-stamp-set/

Now that I'm trying to think of a needed sentiment, I can't come up with anything!

Seem to me that there is a lack of good Sympathy sentiments. Even just 'With Sincere Sympathy' mind you I am a mostly SU user so other companies may have a wealth of that genre that I'm not aware of. I'm not an online shopper so I don't see so much (or spend so much )

I would like some simple sentiments that are "plural" like "we are so sorry", "we miss you" or "You are in our thoughts". Sometimes I do these on a computer, but it would be nice to have some stamps.

Downloads forum is in the Stamping Stuff section, just like this General Stamping Talk, and it is down 5 topics from General Stamping Talk.

The picture will show you where...

I use my PrintShop card program for sentiments. I type one sentiment on the "front" and a second sentiment on the "inside". When printed, all I have to do is cut the 8.5 x 11 inch cardstock in half, fold the sentiment to the inside and decorate the fronts. This program will do both vertical and horizonal cards.

I would like to see sentiments one could use to send to business clients for their birthdays or sympathy cards. This is a untapped market if you want to sell your cards. I have been working with a few small financial planners and there customers really enjoy the handmade birthday cards. It is hard to find sentiments for these cards.

I have a wooden stamp that says "Bless your Heart." I got it several years ago. Ibelieve I have seen it in craft store recently. Do a search for it putting in the phrase and the word stamp with it or rubber stamp.

Default stamps I want

I would like a stamp that says "new beginnings" for a baby card, someone who has moved or is starting a new job; any new life experience, and also "hats off to you". I have a couple of cute hat stamps and they would be a good congratulation type card.

Southgirl, I really like your #2 and #4!
I just got one from Hero Arts that you might like. It has "Yay!", "Woot Woot!", "You did it!", "So happy for you" and some variations of congratulations. I got it at Hobby Lobby when they had their recent half off stamps sale.
