Default what is this over the edge layer called?

What is this technique called? [shown in my center stamped image]
Ginghamclock by vjdeed at Splitcoaststampers

I thought I rememeber it was called: out-of-the-box, but I have looked for two days and cant find it. The technique allows part of the image to drift/flow off of the layered area
The original shown on this site, used kraft/red/black/white.

thanks for all your help,
Valerie

That's what I call it! There was a Dirty Dozen challenge for that technique a while ago.

I've never heard of a name for it, that I can recall. It's just a way to cut something out, lol! I suppose if one were using it in a challenge, though, a name would have to be used.

Leslierich does it alot on her cards. You might go to her gallery if you are looking for ideas. I don't know what the name of the technique is.
