I had never heard of Take Ten until you just now mentioned it, so I went to ebay and saw exactly what you were talking about. They have a vol. 2 one currently at $31.00. So do they have these books out now for current sets or was this just soemthing they did a couple times and quit doing?

It's a magazine put out by http://www.stampington.com/

It shows hundreds of cards. All of the cards are supposed to be made in 10 minutes or less.

You can still get volume 3 on Stampington's web site at the original $14.95 price.

I know it's hard to believe that folks pay what they pay on e-bay. The Dreams and Dragons set and the doll house set often go for more than $100 - yikes. Then again, look at the folks who bid $7.99 for a $4.95 stamp pad and pay the $3.00 shipping.

I just went to an e-bay seminar. The speaker mentioned time and time again that so many uneducated folk are getting taken when bidding.

Guess, it you want something bad enough ...

Okay ladies - I took the bait. I went to the website and looked because I had never heard of Take Ten. Well, I ended up ordering both volume 3 and volume 4. Then I looked further. They have other magazines which are filled with pictures of whatever doesn't fit in the Take Ten. Those back issues sell for $7.95. I should have looked before I leaped. I am hoping these issues will help me get through the senior moments when I can't even come up with color combos, let alone layouts for cards.

Thanks for helping me spend money.

Well I hate to be a humbug but I have the first two issues of Take Ten and I wasn't that excited. I was also surprised at how many of the samples were direct copies of the samples in the SU Catalogue and on the Inspiration Sheets. I call that cheeky!

Forgive me if any of you have samples in there - there were some great cards, but I found the majority of them quite ordinary.

I'd say save your money and check out the samples right here, which are WAY better... and many of them can be made in 10 mins or less... most of us spend so much time on this site that cards just HAVE to be made in 10 mins or less

Does Michaels or JoAnn's carry this? Great way to use my coupon if they do.

Me too. I went and looked and ordered Vol. 3 & 4. If nothing else, eventually they may command big bucks resale on E-bay.

I love the Take 10 issues. I will have to dig out my volume one and put it on Ebay! I'll be able to get a ton of stamping stuff for that kind of money!

That's amazing.

I didn't discover the Take Ten until Vol. 3 was out - the company has been sold out of Vol. 1 and 2 for some time so it's unlikely you'll be able to find it in a store. Probably why the ebayers are selling it for so much.

Since I'm not willing to spend a $100 for 2 magazines that I could spend on stamps, I'll just have to stick with Vol. 3 and 4. Glad to hear from the lady who has 1 and 2 that I don't need to scour the planet to find them!

Just wondering is SU would likely do a publication similar -- They could call it Terriffic in Ten Minutes! (Demos already have something similar in the Stampin Success), but I think it would be great for Customers to have something like Take Ten!!!!

I don't have any of the Take Tens and haven't been able to find them in any stores. However, yesterday I went to JoAnn's (with a coupon, of course!) and bought a new magazine by PaperCrafts called "The Joy of Cardmaking." With the coupon it was $9.00 and I think it is FABULOUS!! Tons of ideas and they give you the "recipe" or layout of the cards and you can do whatever you want with it. I think it's WELL worth the money and you all need to check it out with your coupon from today's paper!!!!

Good luck

I just received my Take Ten Vol. IV yesterday. I have to say that I was NOT as excited about that issue as the first three. Some of the cards look like they would take longer than ten minutes (unless you made four of them at a time because then you get in the swing of them). I love the first three volumes and will have to set down and have a second look at Vol. IV later today, maybe I will change my mind.

Looks like it's just me that isn't a fan of Take Ten! Oh well, I always liked to be different. Perhaps I should sell mine on ebay - I could become a millionnaire!

Check out my post under the BST forum.
I do have TAke Ten Vol. 4 here in stock. I can get
Vol. 3 still and mail both to you for $3.85.
Or just the number 4 for $2 media mail.
I believe it cost more to send thru Stampington.

Default OMGosh!!!! And to think....

And to think that I *sold* Vol. I, Vol. II, and Vol. III to a fellow stamper for a *total* price for all three *including shipping* for $30 not two months ago. Here I could have sold e'm on eBay and bought more stamps! Course, there is something to be said for: a) they're not in *my* house taking up valuable real estate, collecting dust, or having coffee spilled on them; b) the person who bought them for that will *never* recover that for them; c) if I held on to *everything* that could eventually fetch me $$$ one day, I'd be living in the city dump....

Still, it still kinda frosts my toes a bit to think that I could have tried eBay first.... ~ K

Oh yeah, Take Tens go quickly on eBay. So do the "On Stage" ones??? And for some bucks too.

As far as being "taken" on eBay, it's rather incredible. I thought other categories were "bad" but the stamping section (especially SU) is amazing. Before I found you all, I was on there all the time (didn't have an SU demo at the time) looking for sets. And yes, I've seen some of those sets go for bookoo bucks--another one that especially goes fast and furious is Girl Power. Fortunately, I scour the listings and have the original prices so I can gauge whether or not it's worth the trouble.

I've *talked* to some people who buy, some are home-bound and figure it was worth the money to be able to order it themselves (not go through middleman, etc.), some just REALLY want that retired thing, but I do have to say that the majority of them do not know what the item costs and figure they are getting a good deal, that if so many other people want it it must be worth it.

Now, I know there are paper kits on there that people make with certain brands. I'm still really new to stamping and can't always get that straight line or the perfect size so it was worth the extra dollar(s) to me to have them done correctly. But if you all have an idea if I can get it (direct from demo) that is already pre-cut card kit, I'd love to know. I keep practicing, but not there yet. I didn't see any in the catalog, but could have just missed them.

At first I thought that "taken" was a bit strong. But you know what... as someone esle said, alot of those people don't know the true prices. People have bought things on there that are current for more than the current prices. As far as the retired sets... people want what they want and there is no stopping them. There is also the whole eBay addiction. People keep thinking... I'm willing to pay 10.00.... well maybe 12.00... by the end they pay 30.00. Isn't that crazy!!
