Help--I have a meeting with my upline. I would like to WOW them. I think it needs something. The background is wax paper resist and the pic doesn't show the butterfly well. It is 3D, with two layers. Bottom one is flat and top one is only glued in center. Thanks for the help.
That said-I think perhaps something around the border-maybe a darker color around it or some random stamping in Versamark of the insects?
The center part is so textured with the bg and lovely 3-d butterfly, that the plain border seems very flat in comparison, and becasue it is so thick around my eye is being drawn out to that rather than in to the butterfly. I would also have the saying on a white or light color rather than the purple-or omit the saying recatngle all together or stamp it in black on the background so the focus is on all that work you did on the butterfly

I love the butterfly and the wax paper background. Absolutely beautiful and they go so well together. I think I'd change the frame to a lighter color for a softer look. I can't tell what colors are in the background, but it looks like a soft pink would go with it. Pick out a soft color that matches the best and make a matching tag for your message with a yarn or ribbon string to embellish it. I don't think I would put a solid color behind the butterfly. I think it will look much softer without it. Hope you'll come up with a happy ending. Good luck, Nan
LOVE the card! The butterfly is awsome!! I would possibly cut down the lav. border a bit and layer on a piece of cardstock matching colors in the wax paper resist. Great Job!
fer sure another layer, is that blush blossom...smaller lavender edge, and lighter outside, maybe sponge the edges of the butterfly....gently...with a darker color so they'll pop from the page.....but this is soo cool!! Play with some darker color here and there....gently!!!! is that green in the butterfly body??? pull some more of that green in...maybe make your message tag with that green and layer the message tag....you can't have too many layers....maybe layer the butterfly with the green, it'll look like it's sitting on a leaf!
Love that butterfly! But have to agree that the outside edge is very wide, and so therefore your eye is drawn to it's plainness. If you want something quick to do, could you just trim down the outside edge & add another layer of cardstock?
What about something to set apart the edges of the greeting? Maybe dip the edges of the cardstock and emboss or run a silver pen around the edge? I'd also set the greeting up on dimensionals (or another layer, if you have) and maybe layer it with another color of cardstock? My immediate reaction was that the reason I was so drawn to the border was because of the large block of color in the greeting.
Very pretty - how about cutting the lavender border and if you have black cardstock, add that behind the lavender using about 1/4" showing. Also agree with a bit of ribbon - pink organdy maybe just over the saying square.

Well, this is what I decided on. I thank you all for your input. I hope this puts the focus onto the butterflies. The only bad part now is I have to go and make 24 more butterflies to fulfill my swap. I am not good at mass producing. I lose the fun of creating.
Thanks again for your input. I will let you know their responses.
I know it's *probably* too late for my opinion (and being a *HORRIBLE* cardmaker, like anyone would really want it anyway?) But, here goes:
I *really* preferred the "look" of your first card! Nothing wrong at all with the second; *gorgeous* actually. But the first one I think only needed a little something. What immediately came to mind: two ***thin*** parallel lines of glue around both the outside frame of the card and the frame of the saying. That would have tied in the "double-line" sketch look of the butterfly and the glitter there. I just don't know: does SU! have anything currently that produces a thin line? I know that ZIG does ('cuz I use it...) but when you're doing it for an upline swap...well, that's a different matter entirely.
And bless you for cutting out all of those butterflies...I certainly hope they appreciate all of the trouble that you've gone through. Two *FAB* cards! (And my personal fave so far with this set...love the set, finding myself uninspired with it...your card just changed that!) ~ K
