Usually I think I spend about $100 per month, but like others said, it goes in spurts. This month I've already spent over $300, not that I actually want to add it up, because I might be more than that and I really don't want to know. I'm also a hoarder because I think, if I don't buy this now, it might be gone/more expensive/discontinued, etc. So I buy things when I see them, and when I can get a good price for them, even if I may not use them for months.

My doctor told me I needed to get a hobby to relieve the stress. Did he not know that we can have creative stress? I think I have had one month of spending less than $100. After the first six months at $300 per month, I finally became a demo. Now if I could just find more TIME for my prescribed hobby!

Well, a lot less than I used to! Seriously, I was easily spending hundreds of dollars each month when I first started stamping. And then I signed on with SU so I "needed" stuff to demo. I have a stamp room and all my stuff doesn't fit in there. How sick is that?!? So for about the past year I've been slowly purging, and trying very hard not to buy. So in my current position, I'd have to say it's probably more like $20-$30/month.

And my dh thought I was bad!!! I keep telling him that I cannot possibly be the worst(cause he swears I am), because people talk about things on here that I dont have and I once saw pictures of a ladys craft room that had over 10000 stamps in it(or stamp sets, I cant remember, all I know is it was a freakin lot and I wanted to be her so badly!!)!! I keep telling him that if he would let me move to a bigger city instead of boring old Southern Illinois I could maybe find something cheaper to do. I dont think he believes me, for good reason!!!

One of the main reasons that I work at my full-time job is so that I'll have $$ to spend on crafts. It certainly isn't for personal fulfillment because I don't like my job and I'd rather be home playing...but if I didn't work, I would have any $$ for fun, so it's a terrible quandary, wouldn't you say?

I probably spend anywhere from $200 to $300 per month on my obsession...ur, I mean hobby.

Who's asking and why do you need to know ??

I spend about $100-150 per month. I'm not saying you should spend beyond your means, but hobbies are important in anyone's life. My father has always been big on that. It's important to keep your body and mind active. OK so maybe we all need to remember to exercise a little too !

I stopped shopping for clothes this past year to have money for crafts, so that is how I justify it to myself when I see all the stuff I have!!

I know I am in the minority, but I spend maybe $20/month. I am someone who has to find a deal to buy anything and, I try to focus on using my stamps vs. buying more supplies/equipment.

I generally spend between 30 - 50 dollars each month at my card class -- that way, everyone in my class gets the benefit of more moolah for her order when she is hostess (and I hope they all return the favor on my month). Right now I am on a "now spend" rule (other than what I spend each month at my card class) so I am trying to not spend more on top of that... although I did just buy 4 packages of Tim Holtz alcohol inks... mmmmm, this is not going so well... hehehehe

Good question, I do not know is the honest answer. I do not order every month so I am going to say $50-75/month. I have been using up my supplies and making gifts. I enjoy making things, so whatever I spend is worth it!

Probably $100-150, but I'm a SU! demo so I justify it by telling myself that I need it for my business, LOL!

I'd love to know which Island of Denial Joan B. lives in. Or maybe people give her all her supplies??? Ha. That was funny. $ 10.00?? Maybe her hubby has her password too? Maybe it was a typo - she meant $100.00? Oh well, I never add it up cuz it would make me faint. And my monthly income doesn't really even cover the basics but I still find $$ for SU cuz it makes life worthwhile.

LOL me too! I gave up shoes for stamps and paper!

I always tell DH, if it weren't this it would be something else. I used to be a big time doll and doll house collector, and that is an even more pricey hobby. Miniatures cost a bundle.

I am not sure how much I spend, as others have said, it is in spurts. But I usually spend at least 100 dollars on crafts. These past two months have been big spending months, as I have been buying up a storm. But I am sure in December and January I will spend a whole lot less.

Ditto. Must be a "practical midwesterner" thing. LOL

I'd say at least six months out of the year, I don't spend anything on stamping supplies.

I spend less than $200 for the entire year...not b/c I can't afford it (my Dh has no problem with my hobby and would let me buy whatever I wanted), but b/c I don't feel the need to have the "latest and greatest" ~ whatever that may be.

I was slightly horrified . . . ok not really . . . when just last week my DH figured out how much I was spending per month. It seems to hover between $200 - $300. He just about died LOL

Earlier this week I walked in the house with one of Mikes new storage cubes and he immediately ordered me to not get anymore of THOSE THINGS! Of course, the very next day I went and got 3 more!! LOL . . . "But hunny! . . . I had a bunch of 50% off coupons!!" LOL Now that I have them all in place and my area tidied up, he's hard pressed to disagree with me about the value of these things. I then went on to mention that I think I want a whole bunch more. He knows better than to tell me NO again LOL

Ouch, I have been buying for this craft for several years...about 4-5 years and at first, I had lots of little things to buy. But now it seems the things I buy are biggies. This month I had a SU party and spent 60 there and then all the free stuff I got made it like Xmas! I ordered some nestablities, ouch! I bid online for some Prismacolor pencils, ouch! Hmmm, I ordered some Cuttlebug folders that won't come until January when they are available. I think this month was the real cliff hanger and you had to ask THIS month! LOL

I can honestly tell you that the longer I have this hobby the lower the amount gets. I have been stamping for over 3 years. The first 6 months, well, I don't even know what the actual totals were. Once I had my basics (ink pads, cardstock, a good variety of stamps), I bought my embellishments. After I had my basic embellishments, things slowed down.

Now, there are MONTHS that I don't spend a dime. Seriously!

But I am also not a person who is always on the next craze. I bought a Cuttlebug (with birthday/Christmas money), but I haven't bought a lot of the gadgets that some of my other friends from this site have bought. DH was asking me about the different Cricut machines yesterday. I kept telling him that I had no idea what the difference was, but he kept pushing me. Finally I asked him why he was asking (we've started an online store--see my siggy--so I thought he wanted to stock them); he said that he was thinking about buying me one for my birthday this year (which is in a couple of weeks). I thought that was so sweet! But I told him what I'd rather have instead of a Cricut (which is a cutting system from CM).

totally varies by month. some months i have spent $300 (gulp!) but I would put a rough average at about $85 a month.

thank goodness my dh is outside right now....He would faint dead away

I am not sure I want to add it all up!!!!!!!!! Better that I don't know.
I agree with Julia - Some months my spending is really high and then the next month is could be nothing! I am using what I have, enjoying what I am doing and hopefully sharing it with others.
Great question though Lorraine. It really makes you think!

When I first started stamping regularly, I was in a club, so I had to spend $20/month...but often I spent up to $50. I started accumulating way too much paper and stamps that weren't assembled...

Then SCS entered my life!

I seriously spent nothing for months...it was a necessary budget halt, but then I went crazy this summer and bought a lot of brads and other embellishments. My hubby bought me a Cuttlebug for my b-day, and I have purchased about 8 embossing folders.

I just spent a lot at Hobby Lobby yesterday, and gave my demo a sizable SU order, (LOTS of paper and a few inks) so I'm over $200 this month... But I am making loads of Thanksgiving and Christmas cards, plus OSW sets for Christmas gifts.

All that being said, I checked our Quicken program, and I average about $80/month. Phew! I don't feel so bad!

This month has been absolutely horrible but this amount I'm about to say is more business then hobby expenses, but it exceeds $3000.

So far its only $100 a month to meet mins with SU
