Default What do you stamp on the back?

I am having trouble deciding what to stamp on the back of my cards. I want something that looks semi-professional. Right now I stamp either my initials or a small symbol of my other favorite hobby. What are you stamping on your cards?

I have one of SU's Hand Stamped By stamps w/ the tag that has my name under it - I really like the look of it.

I have a couple stamps I use. One is a bar code that says handstamped underneath it, then I have a incentive stamp that says handstamped with a flower spray, and my favorite is a crown (like the Hallmark crown) that says Hallmark eat your heart out!

wow, laurakj!!! where did you scoop all your cool backstamps? I love the sounds of that barcode one! I wish there were more of these stamps that said "handcrafted" rather than "homemade" or "hand stamped". I don't always stamp on my cards (quelle horreur!).

I played around with my name & initials one day and came up with an insignia that I like. My name is Jamie Cox, so I have a larger "J", a larger "C" kinda overlapping my J, then "ox" in a smaller size after the C. At the base of my J, I have a heart. Then to the bottom right of the heart, I put the year I made the card.

If there was some way I could attach a picture of it here w/ my post, I would. But that's what I do. I make it small enough so it doesn't awkwardly stand out & annoy people, but big enough that it shows people I made the card.

Jamie

For the cards that I sell, I use SU Angel policy stamps. For my other cards I have a few cool "Hand Made By" that I got from: http://www.paperangel.com/store/crafters.html

I have one of SU's personalized stamps -- Whimsy -- with my name printed on it. I love it! If you ever decide you want to sell any of your cards, you need to have one of the stamps that conform with SU's "angel policy."

I have the same one, and got it from AddictedtoScrapbooking.com

Just hit the search button and put in Hero and Barcode. (there was a coupon code that I got off of this website for $10 off a purchase of $10 or more, just look back a few days.)

I also have the SU personalized stamp with the leaf, and a few more non-SU that I got at Hobby Lobby when stamps were 50% off

I have one that is a box that says handmade by and a space to put my name and has a small flower spray over top of it. And I just got one that is simply an arc shape that says "Hand stamped for you from my" and it has two hearts on either end of the words. and enough space inside the arc to put my name and probably phone number or address if i tried.

My name is Linda, so I make a big cursive L and in the top loop I put the date, in the bottom loop I put an angel and on the right bottom where the L semi- loops back up I stamp, with love from me to you. Looks very nice and its my card logo.

My favorite is a SU incentive stamp with the hedgehog carrying the little "hand stamped" sign! It's cute. If it's a sympathy card or something more serious, I just use a simple one that says hand stamped. I never put my name, but someday I might order one of the personalized "Hand stamped by Erin" stamps.

I have the personalized tag "hand stamped by" stamp and I love it too. I used one of the incentive stamps before and always had to add my initials. I feel like it was well worth the money for the personalized stamp! I think it makes the back of the card look so professional!

For cards I send to friends and family, I usually use a retired pawprint stamp and stamp two paws in versamark. The kitties usually "help" me with whatever I do, so I give them their credit.

I use an SU stamp that says Stamp Art inside a very small artist's palette. I add *by Mary.*

That stamp is a tribute to the quality of Stampin' Up -- I know I've used it over 500 times, and it still stamps a great image.

I didn't think I was the only one who did this, but then I never really thought about it. I usually stamp a coordinating image or partial image of what I stamped on the front, then add my initials and the year I made it. (For example, if I used Paint Prints on the card, I would stamp the tiny flower center stamp on the back.) I just think the card looks more complete that way.
I do have a stamp that says something like "If you knew how long it took me to make this card, you'd never throw it away", but I only used it one year when I made very detailed Christmas cards.
Good thread...I liked reading what other people do.

My DH & I found these at Viva Las Vegas Stamps store last spring & I love them. For more serious I have one of the SU custom name stamps.

The one I used to use a lot looks like a cloud outline and says "dreamed up by" around the edges. Now I mostly use my personalized SU! stamp or a piece from the set I'm using.

I just ordered the Personalized Hand Stamped by thru SU. I'm making 180 wedding invites and the bride-to-be insisted that I stamp that backs so that I get the credit! Definitely worth $17.95 for all that advertising!

I have this one and me too! It's my favorite but usually I use the SU personalized tag one. I just ordered the one that looks a bit like a crown for my 8 yo drama queen. She's getting really good at casing cards.

To those of you that don't "sign" your labor of love, I'm wondering why not?

You know, Liz, more often than not, I do simply sign the back. Maybe someday, long after we're dust, art stamping will be considered a "fine art", and be featured in the Smithsonian. chuckle!

Thumbs up Thanks for your input!!

I waited to respond so that I could read as many ideas as possible. I can see I need to purchase a SU stamp. I love the hallmark ones. They just kill me!! There are some really cute ones on the above mentioned Paper Angel site.

These have really helped me decide what I want to do. Many years ago, before my obsession with stamping, I had a stamp made of Mickey Mouse's head from a set of bed sheets we had. 0 That is what I had been using. If I figure out how to upload pictures, I will post a picture.

Thank all of you for your input!!

It just never occurred to me. I have a hard enough time finishing a card to begin with (or a batch of cards, like for my DH's family where four people from three different generations share the same birthday, and sometimes that day falls on Mother's Day). I never put time into trying to figure out what to do, never heard of folks doing this, but now that I've read this thread I think I've got a lot of great ideas to draw from! Thanks for starting the thread, im4disney~

That would be cool! Your art may be in the Smithsonian, but mine might only make the local library

My sweet hubby says if you want someone to keep what you send them, send hand-stamped. It's harder to throw away a card that is signed.

I have an SU stamp with a little bird that says Hand-stamped by. I use that one sometimes. But more often I use a little turtle stamp that I got a long time ago from somewhere. I put 'cklee' beneath it, or if it's going to an SCS-er, I'll put my SCS name.

I love turtles, of course, but I also got the idea because my SIL puts a tiny butterfly and her initials on all her cards. She also puts the date. I should do that, too, probably.

Whenever I show my DH a card I made he always turns it over and checks that I signed the back! He is so sweet and thinks all my cards should be signed.

Aloha, I have several stamps that I use on the back of my cards. I also have the bar code one and I have one that has Hallmark on it but right beside it, it says NOT. I also try to use a small stamp that matches something on the front of my card with my initals and the date and year.
Have a great day!

Default back stamp

I have a personalized one that I use on cards I personally send that says
"I cared enough to make it myself"
On ones I give in packets as gifts I have a small monogram and my sig.

Loved reading this thread.

That is what I do as well - simply sign the back along with the year. I don't sell my cards, so it doesn't matter if I use the copyright stamps.

My current favorite stamp for the back of cards is from the It's A Date set... the stamp that has a dotted line with "Name" beneath it and a dotted line with "Date" beneath it. The only trick is making sure I stamp it straight!

I love it... it says exactly what I need it to and I also get to add my own handwriting by signing it/writing my name as well.

I have a pre-ink stamp that say this:

"Created by"
Nancy Beauchamp

I then write under the name the month and year.

I got this pre-ink stamp from http://stampin.com

http://stampin.com/online/custom/pp.htm
I love it....It also has a clear plastic holder with a lid. So I take it with me where ever I go to stamp.

I use a SU stamp that says "Inking of You" and it's an ink splat. I bought it as a single stamp off of Ebay forever ago. I also have a funny one that says something about not throwing the card away, but I don't use that as much...only when I know the person receiving it has a good sense of humor.
