I can't believe people don't like their Cricuts...I got the expression for Christmas and I love it...I have only used it to maybe 20% of it's capabilities, but it's GREAT! I made matted ovals for a church group card session the other night in NO TIME. would have taken me way longer with nesties. And I don't have any problems getting things off the mat.

My regrets are acrylic stamps...I just am never happy with the image I get from them...not sure if it's my technique or the ink, but they don't work for me unless I use Stazon/Versafine...which limits my colors here where those are not widely available. But I keep trying them because there are some great sets out there!

I was getting itchy when I wasn't getting any good images from some of the clear stamps that I used. One thing, if you rub an eraser over the stamp image then clean the stamp, it will help the ink to stay on.

I regret buying a million eyelets. I just don't use them enough. I like the look, but use the hammer tools to set them. I think I would use them more if I had a different way to set them.

I regret buying so much non SU ribbon. I never use it and I have tons of it!

dmaggt - What I really do is "collect" supplies.

I can soooo relate!! I have so many supplies...and I always find I go back to the same ones. I am a tool-aholic! I love to buy new tools. Good thing I don't have much of a budget to buy things with, or I would probably have everything out there!!

My biggest regret...I bought a circle cutter, it had a "pen like" razor, and you put it in a hole and twirled it around to cut the circle. I tried it once, and the blade broke off. Tried it again, and the paper ripped...that was it. I think I may have thrown it out!

I've said that too,
I collect stamp stuff...
but it is that I am still creating my room and my collection..
how could I possibly use any of it
...while it is still a work in progress?
even my heartless dh grudgingly understood..
he is a cook and I explained it is like him making a beautiful buffet.. you almost hate the people who come in and take away all the pretty food you worked so hard on!
my stamp rom is like that ...
like I almost hate to use the primas once I have them all displayed... they represent the pretty things that are in my head...!
That is a hard thing to ransack!

LOL!

REALLY?!!! I buy sets IN SPITE of the words and sentiments!!! (okay, not the French version - I love those). I wish you were my neighbor so we could just buy one set between us and I keep all the images and you take the sentiments!!! Really, I have so many sentiments that make me nauseated, but I don't regret buying the sets because I love the images.

Wow, that's a lot of stuff to regret! I'm happy to say that I resisted buying the Cricut, the snap stamps, and the ATG gun.
I haven't bought any jumbo eyelets yet, but I love my craft spots, watercolor folders, and embossing folders!
I don't think I know what the wizard is, and I never bought prism cs, but I have to agree about the black ink pad. I use the stazon when I want black. I love my watercolor crayons!

I regret buying the silent setter. I also regret buying "mono" from the dollar store.

So many times the Fastenator has been mentioned. I don't know how many cards I've ruined trying to use this thing! BUT... I do like the staples themselves and figured how to get them placed perfectly. I break one of the staples off, then holding the staple with tweezers, I ink up the prongs with an inkpad. Then I lightly place the staple where I want it on my card, and take a needle to pierce holes where the ink dots are. I can then push the staple through the holes, turn the card over and use an eraser or bone folder to flatten the prongs. Maybe this will take some of the regret out of your purchase??

I did buy a stamp from Asda (Wal-Mart?) of a watering can and flowers-total wast of money. Lesson learned? look at the outlines on the stamp to see the image!

What a fun thread. We had been thinking of selling our house (before the economy went downhill), so I'd had to weed out. I decided to try to limit myself to SU! products, since that's what I've liked most, and I really have been able to do it, for the most part (gotta have my Xyron adhesives).

Bought & never used:
Bind It All
Janome Sew Mini

Bought & rarely used:
Cricut
Clear stamps (yes, really!)
ATG (hate it)

Some of the problem is that a great product comes out and you buy it, but then a better twist comes out later, so you want that. Some things I don't use (eyelet setters come to mind) are because of this (love the Crop-a-Dile). I gave Mom my Cuttlebug when I got the Big Shot.

Tastes and styles change, too--I have some old stamps I now don't think I'd ever use. Time to sell--but probably no one wants them, either.

The best products are multi-purpose ones. I can look at all of the dies on the market, but I have to stop myself from buying them, because I know they have a limited use. I like the SU! ones, because they can have so many different uses--more bang for the buck.

Fun thread!

I just thought I would mention that there were some defective ATG guns. Here's a link to an earlier thread that may help you. There was a recall on the ATG gun.

Wood mounted SU, but I have sold most of them, but they sure don't resell like they used to. I should have done it sooner. Also the SU watercolor crayons and markers. I don't use them with all the options like Copics, Shimmerz, etc. I also got my Cricut at half price, which made me think I needed it. I hardly use it.

I try to be careful about what I buy so I don't end up regretting things. But it still happens . . . Really, if there's any purchase I regret, it would have to be the clear stamps I've bought over the years. I don't like using them. I don't enjoy them. They just aren't my thing. But at least I've learned . . . don't buy them!

Wow! So many things on here that I love to use! I love eyelets, but I have so many that I will never be able to use all of them. And I keep getting more. Funny, after reading this thread a few weeks back I was like "Oh yeah, I am never going to buy one of those big patterned paper packs again, I always have so much left over" then I went to Joannes and saw the new line they came out with. The spring one was so cute I bought it (at 40% off of course) *sigh* at least I don't buy everything I want anymore. Now if only I could actually finish some projects instead of playing around stamping stuff.

Stickers! I love them but hardly ever use them. Also, I bought a lot of cheaper (not that much cheaper) non-SU paper that I don't use anymore. I am not sure about my BigShot. I had to have it for the Top Note but I love my Cuttlebug and still use it for everything else.

I use the Top Note in my Cuttlebug. I couldn't justify paying that much money for something I already had.

I'm not sure I regret buying anything, I've learned something new with each purchase (be it a good or bad one).

Two things.
when I started I bought way to many stamps and with these way to many SU stamps, I didn't keep them in their packages, yes, you guessed it, I organized them by design or sentiment. What can I say, a lesson well learned. And now I buy a few SU stamps at a time and use them.

I am so bummed. I though the top note was too big for the cuttlebug. I hope there are some dies that I will use some day that only fit in the Bigshot or it was a waste

I really don't have a thing I regret buying. I have usually found homes for the purchases I was not using. If I had to pick one thing it would be my Cricuit. I love it don't get me wrong - but I just recently upgraded to the Expression machine and if had thought it through would have purchased this one in the beginning instead of the smaller one. Did find a good home for my original Cricuit though (my sister) who also received a Cuttlebug machine I won too - lucky girl!

I do a range of crafts and altered items so my stash is used for everything. Like to have supplies on hand rather than not.

I bought a Bind it all and have not used it once. I need to try it out. I know some people love it. I have way too many stickers but my 6 year old loves them. I had a lot of sizzix alphabets but sold them to buy QK which I love so much more.

I finally started going to my bind it all on a regular basis...
kid school projects, some coaster books and just distressing edges...

it helps that I bought a selection of coils and cover sheets...

it was awesome to bind my own IB&C!!!
no worries about some "new" employee wrecking my catties at the local office supply store....

just a hint...
I am not employed by or related to the manufacturer or any distributors...

any enabling,
real or imagined,
is purely coincidental...

The major thing I regret is not organizing my craft room with the right layout and furniture. I have so much stuff but don't use it because I can't find it. As for things I regret, well, I'm lucky. I take them to school to use along with some things I do like.
Have two Circuits, 2 cuttlebugs. ( One for home and one for school and traveling to my grandchildren in the summer) I let my students scrap and stamp a poetry book of originial poems they have to write all year. And I try to introduce something new each year. This is my 8th year of doing it. The new thing was EB folders, and dew drops. Last year it was eyelets, and the year before that was flowers added ( I bought mine from Michaels on sale and pulled off individual flowers. The year before that it was ribbon and the year before that it was Stamps. So this year's kids have had a ball with everything, but they especially love the eyelets and the EB folders. We did embossing at Christmas and made Christmas cards for family. I let them make as many as they wanted. Only teach 12 kids and they made a 100 cards easily. Next year they will get Sizzlex die cuts, and tags and probably anything else I can find new that will fit my budget. Thanks to reorganizing the taxes in our state, I am 300 less in a paycheck so it will be tight.

If I don't like something I have bought I take it to school and try to incorporate it into a lesson. However, I am careful about what I buy. I only use 50% off coupons for Michael's and AC Moore's , I use Splitcoast to buy things cheaper, and I try to find ways to do the same thing cheaper.

The 2nd most regret would be cheap paper, but I'm trying to set up my craft rooms this summer and a lot of that will go to Scouts or to the elementary school, and some to my classroom.

The big set of SU! markers I dont have the patience to color but instead of buying a few to try, I bought the big $125 set! Ended up selling it here to a lovely lady in Canada, eh. Then Flower Soft this stuff sucks. OK, maybe its user error but it looks pretty, but its a complete PITA to work with. Sold that to to the same nice lady in Canada, eh. ROTFL Then I just bought a heat embossing tool and all the inks and powders.and I burnt my crafting table with it dont ask. Seriously, I make decent cards, just patience is not me haaaaaaaaaaaa.
