$1.50 paper towel holders (rubbermaid) and a $0.50 piece of 1/4" dowel rod. Mounted holders to wall and cut dowel to length needed (long enough to stay in place, short enough to be able to slip in and out when I want them to). Cheapest ribbon holder I have found! And uses vertical space rather than floor/horizontal/shelf space. I also hung a piece of same dowel between two shelving units and use S hooks to hang baggies containing hemp, cards of ribbon (like Making Memories ribbon or our Fancy Fibres), sticker sheets, etc.

My husband bought me two shelve holders(?) that have a scroll design on the end. A dowel fits perfectly in there and when we get a board it will be a shelve. I don't have a lot of ribbon yet though.

Sorry April, I just saw this! Hadn't checked back in a while. I just measured mine and it is about 4 3/4 wide. Maybe they use different manufacturers in different areas. I was looking for a name on mine, but didn't see one, I do have the barcode on the endcap though. I was looking at the metal stuff when I went and it was much smaller. I do love it. It looks very nice and very easy access. I liked Barb's gutter gaurd too, that would definitely have been easier to assemble. I just need to buy more ribbon to fill it up!

Thumbs up

I bought a 10' length of plastic rain gutter from Home Depot and with my brother's help, made four gutter 'shelves' to hold ribbon and hung it on my wall.

I've also seen people use clear plastic shoe boxes (.99 from Big Lots) or even cardboard shoe boxes -- 1 free with each pair! To make them prettier, cover with wrapping paper and punch/cut holes in the long sides to feed the ribbon through. For the plastic shoe box, you'll probably need to use a drill bit to go through the heavier plastic.
