Half with cranberries with almond extract, half without almond extract and dried cranberries. With the bark, I used half with craisens/no almond extract, half w/almond extract and of course the craisens. THEN I decided to try another idea. I used another bag of white chocolate chips, and used the dried cranberries, slivered almonds, almond extract, and SPREAD that out all over a cookie sheet, like making almond bark. Broke that into little pieces once it was set. ALL versions went over well, EVEN with the kids. I thought for sure the kids wouldn't be as fond of the ones w/almond extract, as it was more adult like in my mind - not as sweet? Anyway, HITS, HITS and HITS, and I am going to say here, some of my nieces and nephews (only two under 18 now) can be PICKY about things. So, when I got the WOW AUNTIE these are great! AND my brother-in-law, eating almost all the pretzel rolos w/pecans..I thought, HEY I should share this success story!
Hi Barbara, I think I posted this original recipe last year, great job on all the versions you made! My kids always really liked this and sometimes I liked it when I used the white bark and the white chocolate chips together. I love the addition of almond extract, I have a bunch of that in my pantry! Great job, thanks for posting this! I bet that the white chocolate would taste good on pretzels, too and then dip them in almonds or dried cranberries?

The name brand on the vitamin e cream at the Dollar General is "Delon".
Hope that helps you find it! That's the brand that I used too and I agree that it has a nice light scent. Just take the lid off and have a sniff!

Here are the gift jars that I did for this year. Still need to add the small to/from tag, but you get the idea. I really like how they turned out.

Cute!! I like the band that you made for the jar! That's a great idea for putting the directions on the lid too. My DH just bought all of the ingredients for me to make 12 M&M Cookie gift jars.

I'm all hobbled up (temporarily) due to a bad vertebrae today so he had to do all the grocery shopping today... What would have taken me maybe 45 minutes at the Super-Walmart took him 2-1/2 hours.) The good news is that I can sit at my stamping desk so I was finishing up my perpetual birthday calendar books.

With that statement, I'm so far behind on adding in items, even the craft ideas. I've been trying to focus on the baking book/doc, however, this one is larger and seems to have more items than the last document I posted for downloading. It also might help those just jumping in, so they don't have to go search through the entire thread to locate an idea or recipe, or my document. (Which is what I am having to do, page by page, from each of the two threads for the baking recipes..)

I think we've confused the system here, LOL, as I've noticed I'm missing some info here and there, and I've tried on both threads several times to do a search for a particular idea/recipe by the name alone, and I just get an error message! Well, we are at over 1000 posts on the other thread, and probably about the same here, although I didn't check the numbers!!

OK - those interested, those new, and those who might want to take another look to then provide input on the recipe book document (as I'm using the format per say from this one being posted here, for that one as well), perhaps consider downloading it? Those new, you might find something fun that you didn't notice..or from the other thread which you've not read.

Those who've already downloaded the previous one, you can toss that now, and use this, as it has more items in it!?!?!

Those who wish to help with ANY ideas and input, please download this, as it's been buttoned up a bit since the last one (at least I tried), and it might help you, should you desire, to provide any input at all...

So, here it is.....drum roll..(ha-ha) not.....

Thank you so much for creating this and to all of the wonderful contributors who inspire me!

I didn't know you could order bulk items on-line from Dollar Tree. They will deliver free to your local Dollar Tree. We had our children's Christmas party yesterday at work and some of the ladies had went to several Dollar Tree's looking for puzzles. Someone mentioned they could have ordered them on-line. I have tried one chain (a couple of stores), Walmart and Zellars (like Walmart). The only one I have found is at Walmart - 4oz for almost $10. Is the cream a mix or is it pure Vitamin E cream? Maybe I am looking in the wrong spot? Thanks!

I FINALLY found Vitamin E Cream at Walgreen's. It was $4 for 4oz and I had to buy it because I have searched everywhere. THEN......I found some Vit E cream at Wal Mart but it has a few other things in it (It is called fruits of nature or something like that) it came 2 - 4oz containers for $4 so I bought all they had. I also bought a 16oz tub of moisturizing cream (Equate (walmart) brand) for $5 (I think). Hopefully they will all work

I want to thank whoever posted the recipe for the Chocolate Pretzel Rings. I made them last night and YUM! Now, I'm going to try different variations, like Rollo's! BTW, I couldn't find the ring pretzels but they came out good anyway!

Hi all,

I have begun my Crafty Baking 2008 series on my blog. I try to add something new each year. So far I have a Cookie Stacker Tin that can be seen in my gallery here at SCS or for more pics etc and links to last years recipes go to this post. A few of you asked for my grandma's pineapple squares and the recipe is posted there too.

Tomorrow's Crafty Baking post is delayed because I can't find the citric acid I need anywhere - anyone have any ideas where to buy it?

Glad to see everyone is still enjoying this thread!

Suzy

I spent all day Sunday making a bunch of things I found on this thread and in the resources for my local atc group and my co-workers for little christmas goodies.

I made the homemade lotion, water bottle toppers, tea bag holders, snowman soup, mocha cappuccino, spice rub, tile magnets, and cookies in stamped cd holders.

HERE is a pix of what I made

thanks to everyone for sharing your great ideas

On a whim, I decided to make 12 M&M cookie "gifts in a jar". I am not sure who I am giving them to... but at least I have extra gifts.

I got the recipe off of this thread or the other one about what are you making for Christmas.

Here it is:

2 c hot chocolate powder
2 c coffee mate
1 c instant coffee
3/4 c sugar
1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 t nutmeg

combine all ingredients together (I put mine in a big ziplock baggie and seal it so I can squish it all together)
To serve, add 2 T to a mug of boiling water.

"Tomorrow's Crafty Baking post is delayed because I can't find the citric acid I need anywhere - anyone have any ideas where to buy it?"

Usually you can find Citric Acid in the baking section of your local grocer--it is also called Fruit Fresh--near the canning supplies. Try that--if you and I are talking about the same things

I want to try the Rolos in the pretzel rings but can someone tell me if it takes longer for them to melt? How long did you put them in the oven for?

My cards were all hand made again this year. My friend and I, along with her mom and sis, always exchange handmade gifts. Last year I made gift boxes with sets of 3 x 3 cards. The mom liked them so much that she framed them and hung them in her house. She said they were too pretty to use. This year I'm making wall art, using Inspired by nature. I'm also giving them to my family as well.

Default Mini-Album for Great Aunt

I am making an album for Great Aunt Ruby. When we were kids we lived a short distance from our Great Grandparents. She took care of both of them til they passed away. She didn't get married until she was 71 years old. So she never had children, and neither did her husband who was 81 when they got married. But she spent a lot of time babysitting me and my two little brothers over the years. I have a ton of pics of her and us kids. She is now in a nursing home, and I got to thinking that she might like something showing (and telling) what a difference she made in our life.
