Yes, pretty please! I would love to have a copy of such a book! Gosh, I have already started rationalizing the purchase of a BIA to make it into a book....

Thanks to Papertreys tins and containers I am going to do a lot more baking and stamping/decorating on the containers.
I think I will make fudge, Russian tea cakes (melt in your mouth butter cookies with ground nuts, dusted in icing sugar), hot and spicy nuts, spumonic slices (tri color cookies of red with cherries. green with pistachio pieces and chocolate with chunks), and caramel corn. Oh and my grandma's very special macadamia pineapple squares.
For crafts, I am going to make frames that say joy/noel/etc and mini star book ornaments for everyone. Maybe CD ornaments too as DH is in radio and we get so many CDs we use them as coasters LOL. I need to get rid of them.
If anyone wants any recipes I will be happy to provide.
Would love to hear your recipe and craft ideas. I am ready to get into the Christmas spirit. Am I too early? LOL
|
I would love your recipe for madacamia pineapple squares, since you offered. What I do at Christmas: I take off a few days from work the first week of December to make my batches of cookies. I make eight different ones. I've done this for years. I gift my neighbors, friends and family with these and I have to say they would be quite upset if they didn't get theirs. I am making my Christmas cards this year for close friends and family. Honestly I don't give my handmade treasures out to just everyone. LOL I'm a nurse and have two other nurses in the family, so Christmas is when we can all get together, not always on that day. But it's great fun when the house is fully and noisy again.

You did not fail miserably...life happens. A book sounds neat but would it be hard to add on ideas? Hmmmmmm Of course I would love and be very excited for anything you come up with!

WOW! all such talented people and such ambition! And my neighbors call me ambitious when I pull out the plans for Christmas and start looking it over in the summer! My DH swears I start all of it on December 26th! He loves the crafts and savings though, and people I know love the fact that it isn't stor-bought J-U-N-K that seems to always circulate.
This year I want to do more monogram things - it seems to be popular. I'm making 3 of my neices jewelry boxes and filling them They are older - but the other kiddos are getting (I have 12 others) the tray tables from Mike's decorated and filled with stuff to "create" I have a large stash of stuff started - I buy it now with Back to School - crayons, scissors, markers, const. paper, coloring books, and then some toy or pajamas or something. They each have a theme - Care Bears, Princess, CARS, Tonka, Littlest Pet shop, etc. The kids like them and I will personalize the trays with their name so it should go over ok. My kids begged for them and use them all the time - funto have your name on things - esp. when I have a niece named Lucia and nephew Jaxon - never see those names out there!
Keep posting - I'm full of the Christmas spirit now!
thaks for ALL of the great ideas!

Always looking for new ideas
I am always looking for new ideas for gifts, and to make the holidays more homey and less commercial. Most people love homemade gifts and cookies
a used up gift that you don't have to find a spot for. Count me in if you are able to put together a book.

They won't last long enough to put in a sealed container!
Seriously though, last year I think I kept mine in the fridge for almost a week before I actually gave them out. Hope that helps, a little.

They are really easy. Line a cookie sheet w/foil. Place rows (and rows, and rows) of ring pretzels on the foil. Place an unwrapped hershey kiss in the center of each one. Place in preheated 300 degree oven for 2-2.5 mins. The kisses won't look melted. Press center of kiss down into pretzel w/an m&m (chocolate will fill ring) Place in fridge for 5 mins. Saw this a long time ago in Quick Cooking.
Our teachers have loved them. Some teachers (usually men!) have sent thank you notes saying that the pretzels didn't even make it home since they ate them all at work!
I do winter cards since I can't get my act together before Christmas to get cards done (must be all those pretzel rings!)
I always make snowmen for my sisters (4), my mom, my mil, my sil (1) and my best friends. I'm up to 15 each year. I was thinking of doing the SNOW frame in the SU catty. (The one in the black frame w/the snowman face on a tag.) Only problem is that I don't usually like to color my stamped projects and the snowman and letters are colored w/markers, I think.
So far that's all I have planned. Can't wait to see the great ideas that everyone else comes up with!

Just wanted to let you know something different to do with the pretzels that my mom does. Instead of a kiss you can use a Rolo and then melt it in the oven and then press a pecan into it...and viola you have a turtle. They are soooooo good. We usually eat the whole first batch we make, haha. Just an extra idea!

I always want to make a bunch of stuff for Christmas but run out of time. Hopefully this will motivate me to start early so I can get stuff done!
I'll probably bake cookies to send to my family. Not sure which ones yet, but my favorites are oatmeal orange-cranberry. I'll probably make those and a couple of others.
I also want to make calendars this year -- another project that I find hard to get done in time. I should get started on this!
