I have always loved these examples (particularly those in the bottom picture) done by the late Nancy Ward:

PaperFriendly: Make It Easy: Recycled Wood Blocks

Someday when I feel up to unmounting some of my wood sets, I will take a stab at making these.

I just found this thread I have unmounted wood block from BG stamps. I use some of them in me art journal when I'm not using mediums. But...Im stuck with the blocks. The blocks are a put away because they're to pretty to throw out. :P

I love the photo blocks idea! now they have a purpose

I kept some suitable sized ones and made a whole bunch of blending tools!

I bought a pack of wooden drawer handles from a DIY store, Hubby drilled and countersunk some holes form. Screwed the handle on, filled the hole level with some filler then stapled on some velcro.

Some were the same size and shape as regular tools, so used them. Others I cut my own from a sheet of cut n dry foam. Then I glued some felt onto the dark side, so it would cling to the velcro.

I drill a hole in the middle of the largest side, insert a small dowel. (Glue if necessary) Then you have a stand for ribbon or washi!
