My DH asked me yesterday if I liked SU so much why not sell it? It would be great for the discount and extra ideas, but....does this sounds weird? I really enjoy going to SU classes and having someone show me new techniques. AS a teacher, sometimes I like sitting back and being taught.
Weird, huh?
Nope, nope, nope...not weird at all......totally understand.....of course if you buy enough stuff & have a friend or two who does, you might want to consider just being a hobby demo.
I am a demo and totally understand. When I first started I thought I would enjoy teaching others, since I had been teaching my friends and family. But then I found its not fun knowing I have to reach a quota and feeling like I have to sell and continuously coming up with new ideas, etc.
I keep saying I'm gonna drop myself, but SU keeps coming out with the new mini's and specials... they keep enabling me with my habit, albeit a good habit.
Well, if you were a demo you could go to your upline's meetings...awesome classes, and usually free or a very small fee attached.
If you were a demo, you could also go to Convention...the grand mama of all stamp events...sure, it ain't free, but cheap considering all you get from it!
As a demo, sometimes i miss being able to sit back at a workshop and soak it in, but then I remind myself that I am a hopeless know-it-all and I couldn't handle taking a backseat!

I don't think it's weird. I thought I would enjoy being a demo, but found it took away from my personal creativity. I am no longer a demo and it's like a big burden has been lifted off of me!
I have been a demo for 2 1/2 years and am thinking of dropping. It would be nice to just go to someone else's classes. Seeing the post on the subject make me feel better about my decision. The good thing is, if I decide I want back in all I have to do is sign up
I love the teaching aspect of my business... I love seeing the reactions on other people's faces when they make something beautiful. The good thing is that I have a group of demonstrators I meet with monthly and they have excellent training. My upline (and often up-up-upline) puts together projects for us to do. Also, we invite each other to participate in our events so we still have the option of sitting back and learning from someone else. Perhaps talk to your current demonstrator and see what opportunities there are to join a demo group or start something like that. My upline even let me come to a meeting or two before I signed up so I could see what they were like.
Hope everything works out well for you! And what a great hubby!

After 11 years as a demo, guess I'm not so"new" anymore!

Not at all. I'm a hobby demo for the discount and am more then willing to pay my upline for her classes, or hold workshops for her when I have interested folks.

Just because you become a demonstrator doesn't mean you can't attend classes anymore. We (my sister and I) hold stamp camps once a month. We let our downline come for free.

I totally agree with you...when you've had to be the one to organize and present things a lot, you need a place to go and just be. I love going to my demo's SU parties and being able to enjoy the experience...I often share and demo at my stamp club, I don't mind and enjoy that too but I also love just being. Sounds like you have a pretty full life...family, teaching, organizing, preparing, and presenting...not wonder you want to just be! Have fun and go to your SU parties.
