watercolor crayons, chalks

I have the SU watercolor pencils, but was wondering if investing in the watercolor crayons and the chalks was a good idea? can y'all tell me the pros and cons of them all. I am really knew to all this stuff and want to know what is what before I make a huge investment. Thanks in advance.

I love them both and use them all the time. I would make the investment, you will find yourself doing more techniques with them than you ever imagined.

They are both awesome. I strated using chalks 4 years ago and I still love them. The crayons were a big investment but I am so glad I did it. If you can invest in them both. They both have a different look. Good Luck.

I don't have either one ;) so maybe I should just be quiet. I want the crayons but am not terribly interested in the chalks. I've seen a few things I like with the chalks, but not too many. I'd buy the crayons first. I'll be interested to see if the chalks stay in the starter kit in July. I think chalks are not as popular as they once were.

The crayons are definitely worth the money. Very fun and easy to use.

I have the pencils, Chalks and Crayons. I find I use them all for many diff look's. The crayons work so well with an aquapainter ( a neat little tool) I would say BUY them all!

I'm not a fan of the chalks. No matter what type of cs I use, it balls or pills up when using the blender pen. I've tried to work the chalk less, but no success. If I may suggest, see if someone you know has the chalks and try them out before you decide to purchase them. I did this and glad I didn't buy them.

Personally I am not a big fan of chalks...doesn't matter what the brand just don't like them...

I have SU WWC and I love them....love them ....love them - they are a bit pricey but oh worth the $$$ - I have had mine since they first came out last July and have used them alot and they still look brand new - I know a lot of people were concerned at first about using a certain color all up - but it would take a long while and a lot of cards for that to happen...

I use my aquapainter to pick up color from the end of the crayon - I also make a pallet by scribbling the crayon on a CD case and pick up the color from that

I must be in the minority - i LOVE the chalks!! they give you the ability to play with all of SU! colors for a relatively low price! i use them with versamark pad and marker - makes a HUGE difference, have a hard time working with them with blender pens. definitely try the versamark!! i like the fact that the image stays sharp with the chalks vs. the softer look from the WC. now that said... i do like the crayons to use with certain sets, like heartfelt thanks! just my $0.02

I've used the chalks for the Poppin' Pastels technique, but didn't think about using the Versamarker with them instead of the blender pens. Thanks for the great idea!!

I love the chalks and just dab them on with a sponge or q-tip. I never thougt of using a blender pen with them. The versamarker pen sounds neat!

Chalks are so easy! I always use the versamark pad or pen! I even let my kids use them and they love them. Everyone can make them look great and even if they break, they are still usable! They are much cheaper and you can use Q-tips to apply them with. Good luck!

I bought the chalks as a way to get all the colors at an inexpensive price. I am totally for using them with the versamark also. Especially with flower stamps. I stamp the flower with the versamark pad then "daub" with the chalk color of your choice.

I have both the chalks and crayons. I am in the minority also here. I love my chalks. I stamp an image with versamark, then use a dobber, and use the different color chalks and chalk all over the image. You have a great looking project and easy to do. I used it once at a workshop and everyone fell in love with it. I only tried them once with a blender pen and it seemed to work fine.
As for the crayons, I can't wait to try them out!

I have the chalks and the wc pencils...I am also thinking about purchasing the crayons...I used them at a crop one time and we used the aqua painter and dabbed the end of the crayon too! I want to get my retired sets first. I think the wc crayons is a great investment b/c you're getting all 4 sets of colors I can't wait until I get them. Oh and they worked well with the water color pre-cut paper from SU!

I, too, am not crazy about the chalks. I got them in my starter kit and tried several times to use them and learn to like it but I just can't. The only time I kinda like it is when I do poppin' pastels but even that is not something I like very much (I make it look so messy). I am even trying to trade it, no one wants it. Lol.
On the other hand, I LOVE my Watercolor Crayons. I pick up the colors from my aquapainter all the time to color images or 'wash' the cardstock. The colors are softer than when you use reinkers, in my experience. You can always add on more layers of colors to make it darker, or make sure the aquapainter isn't that wet. The colors move around so easily whereas with reinkers the colors "set" very quickly.
