Red face WARNING: Do NOT Squeeze Stickles Bottle with Pliers

Yes, I did squeeze the Stickles bottle with pliers. But, only after ten minutes of extreme frustration. You see, I wanted to put lime green stickles centers on my flowers. I squeezed and squeezed and squeezed, but nothing but clear liquid would come out. I poked the tip with a long pin several times. Nothing but clear liquid. I pushed down on the bottle with my palm -- nothing but clear liquid. Finally, I spied the pliers . . . I latched onto the stickles bottle . . . BAM!!!!!!!!! -- I now have lime green stickles EVERYWHERE!!! You cannot believe how far that stuff can squirt. I know I'll be finding lime green stickles five years from now.

Now, you would think the bottle is now unstuck, wouldn't you? Well, guess again. I clean up the mess, put the tip back on, make sure there's still some stickles in the bottle, put the tip to the center of my flower, and, what comes out? You're right - clear liquid!

After much additional surgery, I have been able to eek out three tiny drops of lime green stickles onto my flowers, but I'm not hopeful for the future.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. I'd better go -- I just saw some lime green stickles on the neighbor's dog . . .

Glitter lasts for all eternity. You'll have memories of this day as long as you live in that house!
Thanks for sharing! I love to hear other people's stories of things not turning out as expected!

I had trouble with my Lime Green stickles too!! Too funny! Only, I couldn't get the cap off. I tried everyway I know (including my teeth) and I used pliers. Finally, the lid came off, but it's broken now. So I just sort of let it hang out on my desk and every day I give it a small squeeze so it doesn't clog or dry out.

Something about the lime green...

Amen to that. I show stardust stickles all over my dog when I was trying to get stuck stickles out. My dog was not a happy camper. I did not know if they were toxic, so I insisted on trying to get it all off of her. She was not amused at the the spot bath.

When I have that problem with my Stickles, I just trim the tip down a tad. Works every time!

That's a really good idea! The last time I had a Stickles bottle that wouldn't pass out any glitter, I took a traditional paper piercer, forced it down into the bottle and rooted around inside it for a bit. That managed to dislodge a rather sizable plug of glue that was semi-dried.

I love lime green, how fabulously shiny and green your stamping area must look! :-D

I'm feeling sorry that I had such a good laugh at your expense, but I seriously do hope that your next bottle of Stickles will be more user-friendly!

my stuck stickles fix (not for the faint of heart)

Bite the tip one way. sorta flattens it

bite it the other way, makes it go back to shape

take a paper clip (I have a certain one for this) jam it in there

wiggle it a little bit

I wanna see you wiggle it just a little bit

pull clip out, if you are lucky you get a glittery booger type glob

put clip back in tray with glob on. this glues it to the tray so I don't loose it, I just chip off the glob next time. (I'm so clever it hurts)

the end.

ps, if you don't get a glob try agian, if still no glob you pushed it down inside, it will come back some day, but your glue should work until then.

Now that's even funnier! I can see myself biting the tip and telling my kids "Now don't ever do this. This is just for Mom to do!" Hee, hee!

Erin - Thanks so much for your quick "fix." I will keep it in mind next time. My husband has taken the pliers away.

for the record I have no idea if stickles are nontoxic, try not to swallow too much.

Great News:

I just got off my fat butt and checked: They are Non Toxic! So eat up and enjoy

I use stickles all the time, used to get jams alot too.
I would take off the cap, poke a large paperclip or the paper piercer from the inside of the cap out, that worked every time.
Now, I store my stickles upside down and don't get many clogs anymore.

Good to know! I'd like to add that you should never try to unclog your craft ink refill by pointing it down over the ink pad and biting the middle of the bottle. It would cause the top to fly off and ink to explode all over your table. Not that, uh, I ever did that...I'm just sayin'

OMGosh, I am ROFLMBO!!! You are hilarious! And to the OP, thank you too for the good chuckle! Sorry about your mess! We're really not laughing at you... we're laughing with you! Maybe this is the reason I don't use Stickles very much!

My Mom is known as GlitterRose, and she is addicted to stickles. She has every color ~ and trust me, it's not just the lime green.

Thanks ErinK for the laugh. I can so see myself doing this for her...

Bwahahah!

Orange Stickles are pretty on windowpanes, too. Not that I would know, of course! *SQUIRT!* But c'mon, who would think that it would project five feet just by squeezin' it a little? I didn't think I had that kind of strength.

You poor thing! When I bought my first two bottles of stickles, one would not produce anything when I squeezed it. So the only thing I had handy was a needle, which I stuck down the neck of the bottle and promptly lost inside it. The stickles finally came out, but the needle was lost in there forever and eventually it started to rust - not a good combo with my icicle white stickles! I finally just chucked them, but I never bought that color again.

I could totally see myself doing this. . .thanks for sharing. I have several bottles of stuck Stickles and I just cut the tip down so it comes up super quick now. I'll have to try Erin's tip next time.

Take pics of the green and sparkly dog :-)

My husband came up to me last night and said "Honey, I have to tell you something." I said, "What?" He said, "You have green glitter all over your chin." I just smiled.

You should see my work bench - it has a sparkly green sheen to it now. Very pretty.

What a day brightner(literally for ped1990). I have never had a problem with my Stickles, but used glitter glue from a craft booth( same product we just put our label on it). The colors were beautiful. But back to the thread I used my stylus and augered out the tip because it wouldn't come out. OMG Now I cannot get a dot or fine line. Live and learn. Thanks for all the better suggestions. Debbie

This thread was very helpful for me! Got my first bottle of Stickles (candy cane) yesterday. When I was playing with it this morning, only clear liquid came out. Immediately thought of this thread and resisted the temptation to go for pliers! Tried several of the remedies mentioned in various posts. What finally worked was cutting 1000th of an inch off the end of the tip with my super-sharp scissors. A glob of about a half teaspoon came out, then it worked fine!
Thanks for you help, ladies!

I had a similar experience with blue glitter fabric paint about 15 years ago. DD squeezed the bottle as hard as her little hands could squeeze trying to unclog it. Let's just say that every now and then I'm STILL finding little dots of blue glitter paint in the kitchen.

Thanks for starting my day off with a good chuckle. I can laugh because I've been there, done that!
