Ok...it's time for St. Anthony to intervene...you know him, the patron saint of lost objects!! You don't even have to be Catholic to know the power of St. Anthony!

I'm back!

I'm the owner of a "new and improved" Fiskars cutter. Not my first choice, but my Joann didn't have the Making Memories, Purple Cow, Tonic cutter, or any of the others I've read about, so I didn't have much choice. Besides, it's more of a temporary fix than anything and fortunately all their cutters and refills are 40% off right now!

I know a lot of people don't really like the little Fiskars cutters, but I've never really had a problem with my old one, so I hope it's okay. The only problem is I believe "new and improved" really just means "changed just enough so you can no longer use those old Fiskars cutter refills you already bought on sale before".

So, how long do you think before I find my old one? Will it magically drop from the ceiling? Or do you think I need to actually open up the new one first and throw away the receipt as a grand gesture?

I'm glad you bought a new one.

Just for kicks, did you look under the couch? That's where everything ends up at our house.

Last week I couldn't find one of my perfect layers rulers. The most important one, the one with the 1/16 measure. Anyway I even went through the garbage looking for it. Thank goodness, DH was building me a waist high table to work at, I found it when I had to move a bunch of stuff to make room for it.

Not to hijack the thread, but one year we lost the bottom half of our Christmas tree. Never have found it!

Back to the paper cutter....go buy a new one, and then try to think when you used the old one last, and look under stuff.

Of course you have to tell us where you found it, if you ever do! Good Luck!

I swear, I looked EVERYWHERE!! I moved all the couches, took off all the cushions, checked every drawer, shelf, and high place in my house, the garden, the sandbox, the garage, moved the towels in the bathroom cupboard, in the toy box, the Lego bins, the train table, I looked in the FREEZER for crying out loud! It is gone, long gone.

Wow, how the heck do you lose part of a Christmas tree?!

How is that possible?

Now I don't feel bad that I "lost" my bone folder. It showed up in ds's "new" hiding spot...the space under the dinning room table (my stamp table).

Honest to God, I have no idea!!!

It was our 1st Xmas together and I wanted a tree, so BF purchased a 4' tree. It was my job to put up and decorate, so I did. After huntin' season was over on Jan 1, he helped me take it down. For some reason the tree wouldn't fit back in the original box. So the top and the branches went in original box and the bottom in another. All the decoration boxes, including the tree box, labeled and numbered. 2nd Xmas comes along and I can't find the bottom of the Christmas tree.

Jimmy thought I was nuts when I told him I couldn't find the bottom. So we spent a week looking in every room in the house, and the attic, I mean like it was a SMALL box we were looking for right? Finally I called the manufacturer and told them we lost the bottom of the tree and could we purchased just the bottom? CSR said no problem they would send out the replacement part. Well when the box arrived it was the ENTIRE tree and at NO COST!

7 years later and we still haven't found the bottom of the tree!!!!

I lost my tweezers last week - sitting at my worktable, tying bows. I used them, laid them down and then spent the next 20 minutes looking for them. I hadn't moved from my chair at this point...

I remembered I had an extra pair in a box, so I got up and retrieved them - still muttering, of course.

The next day, I opened my pencil drawer and THERE THEY WERE!!!

I think this makes the case for having backups.

She bought a new one according to post #42. It's tough to keep up with some of these threads.

I had forgotten about praying to St. Anthony. Thanks for the reminder!

Glad you bought a new one! I was going to ask you while you were looking for your old one that if you found a black and white spotted mouse with a hot pink tail, to let me know. Pewter lost it sometime back...

Now, I don't know if this beats losing a Christmas tree, but TODAY I "lost" my cell phone. It wasn't on my hip where I ALWAYS carry it. I turned the house upside down, looked in my purse, craft room, truck, bathroom (don't go there), everywhere. I had just made a call on it, so I was getting pretty miffed. So, like a smart girl, I called my cell phone from my house phone. My chest started ringing. I looked down and there it was, clamped to the V in my shirt...

Awwwwww, you poor thing!!!
I was sure that if you bought a new one, left it in the package for another 24 hours ... surely the m.i. a. cutter would come out of hiding!!! Happy to know that you can carry on with the cutting!

Well I am happy to say that the CM Baby Girl sticker set I have been moving around from place to place to have handy when I FINALLY got around to packing an RAK box for someone, SHOWED UP!! They were under my keyboard...must have slipped the edge under the keyboard and then when I paid my bills those papers must have shoved the sticker pack under all the way. Now I wish I could find my one bottle of Stickles that I own - never used...btw, it is not under the keyboard...I looked.

Oh yeah, my tweezers disappeared too - finally replaced them and have not found the other one yet...

Crimper in the oven gives me a vivid image!!

Maybe the Borrower's (from the kid's book) have moved in and taken up papercrafting. Just a question? What is this perfect layers ruler and where do I get one? I always have trouble deciding what size when cutting paper. Debbie

Here's a thread talking about this product:
http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...perfect+layers

You can buy them through SU! or QVC http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail

Hope this helps!

I never use my 2 light ones so they are never lost. I was confused at first because my paper cutter would be VERY hard to lose. It is a guillitoine style one that is 18 x 18 and mounted to a big butcher block!

That's what's known in our house as "the super-secret hiding place." I put something somewhere where i KNOW I won't forget it, because it is the most LOGICAL place to put that item. Then I go to get it and.... can't find it! It's like lost socks! Someday I am going to find all my super-secret hiding places and hit the jackpot! I'll find my lost watch, glasses, extra handset to our cordless phone, I might even find the other half of that Christmas tree! Maybe there's a worm hole or something that just sucks things up and deposits them at someone else's house. If so, I got some other stuff I WISH it would suck up...

*grin* I was going to suggest this also...that she has a family of Borrower's living in her house/stamping room.
OT....I loved reading The Borrower's when I was a kid!

The missing paper cutter has been found! It's a Christmas miracle!

On Christmas Eve I was rummaging through my box of spare gifts desperate to find something to even out the gifts for my kids because one child had more than another.

And there it was, in the gift box, which happens to be located in my stamp room. When I showed it to DH he mumbled something about how he remembered putting it in something after he found it on the floor!

Can you believe it? I'm still happy I now have a spare in case a tragedy like this ever occurs again. Just thought I'd give everyone an update since inquiring minds wanted to know.

Too funny!!! Glad you got it back!!!!

I was actually thinking of you and your dilema this morning, my kids were watching Caillou, and the baby sister was taking items from each family member and wrapping them, driving the fam nuts only to unwrap their own stuff on christmas morning.

It is a Christmas miracle! Woo hoo!!

I can sympathize with you about scrounging to "even out" the gifts....I spend more emotional energy at Christmas trying desperately to make sure everything is "even".

I'm glad you found your cutter...now I can finally sleep at night!

This story is so funny, especially since I just found my old faithful Fiskars cutter on sale at M's for $3.49. That's cheaper then a new package of refills, so you know I bought it... Just for the refills!

So glad you found it! I have been searching for a rub-on eraser for 3 years. I remember putting somewhere I'd remember. But I've been through a move, rearranging my stuff count less times and it is gone. Bought a new one that I have never needed. Oh, well. Debbie
