I'm very new to this rubba world so I want an exact answer. I emailed Simple Green tonite and should receive a reply within 72 working hrs. Break that one down.. lol. If I receive an answer, I'll post it here.
The only time anything like rubber was mentioned in their list of things to clean w/ ratio.. was Engines, Tires, Wheels - w/ dilution ratio 1:1 to 10:1 (10 parts water). 'Tires' hardly applies to our rubber stamps.
In the cleaning descriptions, a lot of the time, they instructed: do not allow SG to dry on the item, but instead, rinse well. This leads me to think if indeed, it's safe to clean rubber stamps w/ SG, they should be rinsed very well afterward. Then perhaps, spritzing w/ glycerin and water mixture?? Is it actual fact that glycerin is ok for rubber?
I keep thinking about them stating not to use SG on leather..

Here's the email answer from Simple Green:
Thank you for contacting us. We actually recommend that you use a 30:1 dilution when cleaning a rubber surface (this converts to 30 parts of water and 1 part of Simple Green). Simple Green does not contain any petroleum distillates and is not harmful to the rubber. I hope this helps you out!
Have a wonderful day and know that you have inspired me to do something with all the photos I have @ home! Thank You!
Sincerely, (name omitted for privacy)
Sunshine Makers, Inc.
Simple Green

I did not ask about mixing glycerin w/ SG. It may be possible the glycerin may interfere in some way w/ the cleaning ability of SG..?? I'm still gonna spritz a mix of glycerin in water after I rinse SG off my stamps. I've converted what stamps I have to un-mounted w/ EZMount Cushion -all but my Hot Potatoes stamps . SG does say on its website that SG does not remove glues/adhesives. So kewl... my EZMount is safe.. Egads, after all that work I'd be madder than an old, wet, settin' hen if I had to re-do them!!!

i'm so glad i stumbled across this site! i diluted simple green i had under the sink and poured it over an old, folded towel. used it on stamps i had repeatedly used with black stazon and were badly stained. scrubbed and it came clean after about 30 seconds. will be keeping this trick filed away for future use!

I have a really hard time with the scent (ie:SMELL) of Simple Green. But, I've found another product that I think works as well. It's called Greased Lightning. I buy it at WalMart or the grocery. WM even carries refill bottles. It's very inexpensive, and works wonders on my stazon-inked stamps!

PS-It cleans carpet stains, de-waxes floors, and truly SHINES kitchen counters too! And, best of all - NO harsh smell!

Hey, what a testimony for Simple Green! I've never tried the stuff, but will definitely be looking to buy a bottle (or two).

One question, did you soak the pants immediately afterward, or did the stain get set in?

I am so glad I stumbled on this thread as well! I have SG in the closet and never use it and I don't know why. It is a great cleaner!
DH and I just stayed at a historic hotel that was slated to be torn down but someone came in to restore it and it is magnificent!
www.thedavenporthotel.com/
They had a hotel channel that gave the history of the restoration and they used Simple Green to clean all of the oranate walls and wood and all that. So I just mixed some up for my stamps!

I use the simple green and water to clean my stamps. I added some glycerin to the solution as well to help condition the stamps.

Interesting that Simple Green Company recommends a 30 to 1 ratio. I used the 10 to 1 printed on the container and it did not clean the StazOn off my stamps, so I am off to try the 1/4 cup green to 1/2 cup water as suggested in a previous post. If at first you don't succeed...................

I love Simple Green!

Just a note of caution about using it full strength: I sprayed it on my tile counters full strength and it dyed my grout green!

I have since bleached a lot of it out, but some of my grout is still a little "minty" though.

My friend got Brilliance Moonlight white on her Linen image and couldn't get it off so she brought it to me.
I first tried the diluted formula or Simpler Green and it didn't work so we went full strength and it took it right off and no green rubba! Actually I don't think it would hurt if our rubber did turn green would it...LOL!

That is some pretty potent dye to turn the counter top, thanks for the warning!

For those of you that don't like the scent, I just purchased mine at BJ's and it's Apple scented! Doesn't smell bad at all. It smells like Granny Smith Apples and you use it straight from the bottle. It's called Apple Fresh.

yes SG works good and can be purchased in canada at the Real Canadian Superstore, i fiind the product way to toxic for me and have since switched to Shaklee's Basic H, diluted of course and so friendly you can drink it with no after effects.

We've been using SG for years for cleaning empty apartments to prepare for new tenants. SG cleans everything. Even your mini blinds, I even put SG in my bissell carpet machine.
I just never thought about cleaning my stamps with it, but I got a hold of a very old stamp with nasty stains on it, and tried it out, and it is awesome. Of course it is not brand new looking, but it IS CLEAN.

Thanks so much for this thread! I have been wanting to switch over to simple green and this is my catalyst! I needed the ratio which was given in the earlier thread. I've been using Simple Green for household cleaning for years. My DH and I swear by it.

TexasGrammy- NO KIDDIN!! I started to water, and after the grass was flooded (ooops!!) the ants were SWARMING in huge 'rope' lines all over the patio, carrying the eggs (eeeww!), and I didnt have any raid, so I grabbed the Simple Green (sorta how I grab the hairspray to kill flies in the pouse!! lol) and started spraying them. Stopped them dead!!! So then I got the patio wet, and proceeded to scrub it clean with the push broom!! No ants/Clean Patio!!!!

I have a soft fingernail brush. Now --dont faint (I can hear gasps thru the computer ) I don't SCRUB hard. Little nooks and cranies. It won't take much. In fact a toothbrush may be too hard. We use SG for EVERYTHING practically.
Try it out. You won't be disappointed.

ok, this is an old thread and interesting advice from many...googled Ultra Clean and found a link to this thread.

I just starting to collect acrylic stamps and wanted to know if anyone has used SG on these kind of stamps. One person had put a question out there but never got answered so I wanted to open this back up so to see if anyone since the last post has used this cleaner on acrylic stamps. Kim from MFT suggested using Ultra Clean on her stamps but wanted to find a more affordable solution. If this works as well on acrylic stamps, then I will make sure to get some at WM when I go there for grocery shopping this weekend.

Any advice would be much appreciated...
