Default Teacher Appreciation Week

Next week, May 5th-9th, is Teacher Appreciation Week. Each day has a theme.

Monday---We're "Stuck" on You!
Bring a package of stickers or a pack of chewing gum for your teacher.

Tuesday---You've Got The "Write" Stuff!
Bring a pen or pencil for your teacher.

Wednesday---You Make Learning "Sweet"!
Bring your teacher's favorite sweet treat.

Thursday---Thanks For All You Do!
Write your teacher a handwritten thank you card.

Friday---You Deserve A Night Off!
Gift card for Favorite Restaurant.

I love my dd's teacher and would like to make her some crafty gifts. I was hoping that someone had some ideas to share.

The first one I thought of for Monday was a sticky note holder
Tuesday ~ I did a pot of pens with flowers attached to the top for one of dd's teachers ~ It was one of those metal tins from target/craft store that I stamped on and put marble things in the bottom to hold pens upright
Wed ~ container stamped with candy or a $5 gift card to starbucks or sonic
thur ~ a card
Friday ~ gift card with home made holder ... or if you can not afford the gc to a restaurant do a meal in a bag....I did one for dd's Kindergarten teacher it was Taco Soup in a bag with recipe printed off and hung on bag. (I can post recipe later but I have to get my kids off to school right now! )

anything you do would be so appreciated...what a fun idea for the days to be themed too! I had a student for Christmas one year give me a pack of Pepsi - I LOVED it and thought it was so sweet because I always had a Pepsi at lunch and ended up bringing it back to the classroom and that she noticed that was very sweet to me, so if your kids know of any thing like that they could help you decide. Even a gift card to McDonalds or something like that for the last day could be fun - put a note in the card or holder about knowing they work long hours or for a night they need something quick

My friend is a 3rd grade teacher and her favorite gift was a plud in air freshner and nice scented candles she said it really cam in handy when the kids came in after PE I have a friend that loved it when she got mini chocolate bars in small containers she could reuse. My other friend loves getting walmart gift cards because then she can replenish classroom items. their bugdet fro supplies really does not get them that much. I always try to get to know the teachers and find out what they really like or collect or hobbies that they have. I love to bake and so they have all received homemade breads cookies or salsa and chips just depends on the teacher. I have even made book bags for them filled with a new book bookmarks snacks and other what nots they might enjoy pens note pads highlighters mints chocolate dryerase markers . Teachers really appreciate everything especially if they are shown how much you appreciate all they have done for your children. I have even given coupon books for a free reading time I go in and read tothe kids while teacher gets caught up on grading papers or running errands to the copy room for her or bringing ina snack for the class. just think of wha tyou are able to do and think of what your teacher might really appreciate. ~~~Bluegirl~~~

Thanks bluegirl! You have some terrific ideas. She loves to scrapbook, but never has the time. And I volunteer in her classroom already. Maybe I'll put a coupon in there for her to get some extra volunteer time from me.

Or maybe a scrapbooking day with you this summer?? Using all your cool tools?
I am guessing she might not have a cropadile, cuttlebug, and wealth of supplies and cool splitcoast techniques at hand.

Have fun!

you could een get her a coupon from a local scrap book store that may have classes or maybe theres one that will let her use there stuff free as long as she shops in there store. No one can never get too many new ideas for scrappin' you could even give her a gift certificate from stampin up or any other place she may purchase items from. a cute end of the year mini scrap book of the class might be fun too. let her class each make their own page for her.

HOw about a Name Frame for her class room. THis year for my DD's teacher, We are doing a few things. 1. I'm making her a clipboard with the kids signing the back and a picture of them on the front. I'm using stampin up's 9x9 chipboard ones. I made some chipboard post it holders for a couple of the other teachers that work with my DD. Another gift we are doing is a scrapbooked travel mug of the kids. She's a big coffee drinker. We collected some $ too from other parents and we'll get her a gift card for a coffee place plus anything else that will work for the coffee theme. good luck

I made a gift card holder and added several gift cards to it ($5 each). Here's a look at the booklet

http://danniesdesigns.typepad.com/my...cher-gift.html

And here's a tutorial on how to make it

http://danniesdesigns.typepad.com/my...ard-tutor.html

The teachers I gave them to LOVED them. One even ordered 20 of them from me so she could give them to her friends.

I did a search for "teacher appreciation" and came across this thread. Thanks so much for the great ideas. I am co-chairing teacher appreciation for the entire school (over 900 elementary students K-5). I was looking for something to print on a tag to go with the treat bags we're giving out on Tuesday. I'm going to use the "you make learning sweet" quote. THANKS!

Default I am a teacher

I have been a teacher for 17 years. The gifts that mean the most to me are the thank you notes from parents and students. I have saved everyone of them and I look through them everytime I am down.

I agree! I've been a high school teacher for 10 years and still have every note ever given to me by a student or parent. I love to read them on days when I'm frustrated or tired.

You might want to decorate one of those photo storage boxes for the teachers to store those letters. Then have your son/daughter write the teacher a note and put it in the box.

I was thinking the same thing about a place to put all the notes/letters/pictures from the kids. I was thinking of a scrapbook, but a decorated box/tin would be a great idea!! As a teacher of middle school kids, just please don't send bath stuff....we don't get teacher appreciation gifts from the kids, but we do get a few at xmas and I have enough lotion for all of us combined. I do appreciate them for thinking of me though (:

BTW: for my own child's teachers: monday I did the dollar spot flower pots with matching covered seed packets, today I did the coaster post-it note holders, tomorrow I'm doing some monogram cards, Thursday we'll probably do flowers, and I hope to cover some band-aid tins and put gift cards in them on Friday. The alternate plan is that I give them money "plant" to pay for them to order out lunch one day.

Here are a couple ideas I've done for teachers:

http://splitcoaststampers.com/galler...306&perpage=96

http://splitcoaststampers.com/galler...306&perpage=96

This year I'm doing....nothing! I started working full time and am too exhausted to even think about it! LOL. I did, however, give the teachers a nice gift at the beginning of the year (while I was out of work) so hopefully that makes up for nothing now.

Cute ideas Jane!

I might have to go with the quick and easy Gift Card in the nice little paper sleeve they give you at this rate! Too much to do and so little time!

Those are really cool!!! I love the popcorn pail. I got a couple plastic popcorn holders from the Target dollar spot and I'll be doing something similar, but not much stamping. It's going to part of her end of the year gift.

Kathryn, that is so sweet it made me cry.

I just made a thank-you card for my daughter's teacher right before I read your post. I've also made gifts for my kids' teachers this year, with matching thank-you cards. I'll also have the kids make a card or a picture for each teacher.

Default Rub-ons on glass

How did it come out?

I am about to try this on a little round vase I picked up at Walmart. I'm more concerned about wasting my rub-ons than ruining the vase! I'm making two of them for school staff gifts. I have Crystal Effects to seal it. How would you apply it? Would I just use a foam brush? Would I paint the whole vase with it, or just over the rub ons? Would it get cloudy or gloppy if it got wet? Is sealing even necessary? Any advice would be appreciated!

I bought two little almost-round glass vases to make gifts for teacher appreciation day. Our school will celebrate it next week. The vases are about 5 1/4" tall and about 15" around at the widest part of the globe-shaped middle. My plan is to use my rub-ons on the glass, and then some ribbon around the neck and make a little tag or something and maybe hang a little charm for the school secretary and the school nurse. I have the Love and Happiness rub-ons and the Urban West and I have the stamp sets that these coordinate with. I also have some card stock and DSP that will go well with these items to make a tag (with my new tag punch!) and an assortment of ribbons and lots of hardware. This will be my first time using rub-ons on something besides a flat sheet of card stock. Will the rub-ons adhere well to the glass? Any advice before I start?
