Well, at a meeting last night they had these really cute napkins. Wonderful flowers that would make a lovely BG! There I was digging the usable ones out of the garbage.
What have you done that was lowly for your stamping?

I haven't really done things this "outlandish" but I get inspiration from weird places. Once I was feeding my son sweet potatoes in a teal bowl. I thought "Wow this would be a great color combo for a card" Taken with Teal and Pumpkin Pie. Not for the faint of heart.

Omigosh---that reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George digs into the garbage in someone's kitchen for (I think it was) an eclair and is caught.

I have so been there! I dug tissue paper out of the garbage where I use to work when people unwrapped their gifts!LOL! It got so everyone who knew me would save their wrapping paper and odd stuff and leave it on my desk! And as a matter of fact, I just got a package from a friend who sat across from me, of stuff she saved for me (we live 400 miles apart now) last week.

Dumpster diving at it's best! Welllll, it was a small garbage can but you get the image! The other thing I did once that was crazy was saving the black thread that came off the dog's bed cause I thought it would work great on a card!

These are too funny, I can'y add any though, I'm not that obsessed, roflol. But on the other hand, if you looked at my stamp/scrap room, you would probably think I am totally obsessed.
its so funny how you think of things to stamp on like the eggs i did for easter...anything that is stampable is now a days with me.the family thinks i am nuts...
well.... I don't think "helping" to clear off wedding tables is so bad, there were some dandy little bells on the favors and not everyone took theirs.... or the ribbon either! My kids were mortified but, oh well!
I work at an outpatient counseling agency, and we have a basket full of little toys & stickers that the children can choose out of after their sessions. I can't count the number of times I've raided that box for cute little items I wanted to use on my cards.
I've used the corrugated packaging that light bulbs come in as accents when I can find it in white. You can even push ribbon or colored wire through the channels. And I save business envelopes that are patterned on the inside. One time I made some thank you cards by cutting up the patterned envelope insides into squares and triangles, ran my card front through my xyron to get the whole front sticky and then added the shapes like mosaics. I sprinkled EP on the exposed sticky parts for the grout.
Now I have everyone saving me the flat tops of their candle jars - they make great paperweights. Did a couple with that 3-D punch flower out of DSP. ~lorraine

I retrieved wrapping paper, bows and ribbons from the trash at my granddaughter's baby shower. I just couldn't bear for them to throw them away!
I'm sure I'm now known by those relatives on her husband's side of the family as "Alison's weird grandma."
My Aunt was so bad about this no one could enjoy opening their gifts if she was in the room, one year her son wrapped up some wrapping paper and ribbon as her gift.
Thank you so much!!! Now I don't feel nearly so bad about taking the used chipboard coasters off the tables at the Olive Garden!!! Wish my family could understand though. We haven't been back to Olive Garden since.
