I do have them and love them - I resisted for a long time, but they are my favorite easy way to color images and to make solid stamps multi colored - (many different techniques you can find on here, too)
I go along with everyone else. I love to use them with blender pens. I was afraid they would get used up fast, but they don't. I am happy to have all of them!
I absolutely love them!! for some reason I feel I have less control over the water with the aquapainter, so I use them with a regular paintbrush, and they work beautifully! :mrgreen: I love the colors, they're so rich!
I'm glad I read this thread. I have one set of them and shy away from them all the time. After reading of your successes, maybe I should give them another shot.
Have them. Love them. I can get good control with the Aqua Painter, but I've also used blender pens, and a regular paint brush (for fine work). I really like being able to control the "watercolorness" of the design. I am very happy with them.

I guess I should give mine another try. I have them all but so far only tried them once and wasn't happy with the results. I'm going to try to find a tutorial. Anyone have any basic instructions they could share???? for water coloring in general? TIA
Do these work with the Dove blender or just water? You can always use the ink from your ink pads and do the same thing if you can only use water anyway. A little pricey at $20.00 per color family!
I am still learning to use mine too! Hang in there and just keep trying. I started by outlining the image and drawing in the color with my FS and am starting to see some good results.

I have them and love them as well. When I want a truly watercolor look, I grab color directly from the bottom of the crayon with my aquapainter and then apply it to the cardstock. Then it's easier to control. Or color directly on the stamp, spritz with water and then stamp. That's a different and very pretty look as well. There's a couple of other ways to use them, too, but with a bit of practice and experimenting you'll find exactly what method works best for you.

I love my watercolor crayons! I bought the SU! ones when they were offered together in one tin. I also have a Derwent set, which are very nice too. They are my favorite coloring medium because they are portable, they can be layered and blended for a lot of color options, are easy to use (I use them with a blender pen), and create a soft, natural effect.

I have a lot of stamps that look like pressed flowers or leaves. These look totally awesome colored directly with crayons (using several colors and blending, starting with the lightest color first), spritzed with water, and stamped several times for different intensities of color. It's fun because you never know how it's going to stamp but somehow always looks cool, LOL!
I don't do a whole lot of coloring in, but I usually pick color up off the flat end of the crayon with a watercolor brush and paint that way. It takes practice and experimentation, but even a total non-artist like me can make it look acceptable.
When they were new (either 2004 or 2005), I bought a set. They were new then and came in one big tin. Well, I use them almost exclusively. And, you can barely tell they are 3 or 4 years old. They last really well. The neutrals are great for shading, too.

I have bold brights and soft subtles. My problem is that I hate coloring, and I'm not the best at it, so I don't grab them as often as I'd like. But when I do use them, it's very easy, and I like using an aqua painter.
One of the best purchases I made. You can use without or without watercolor paper with blender pens, aquapainters or a regular paint brush. I do suggest using stazon instead of the classic ink pads to stamp your image so it won't run. I'm not much of a watercolorist but these make me look good!

I love these crayons, I use the all the ways that have already been suggested as well as using a scrap piece of acetate on which I scribble the colours I want to use, then using either the blender pen, Aquash brush, or normal paint brush & water, you can mix the colours together to get any colour you like, in any intensity you like & then you can just paint it right onto your creation. I do prefer to use cold pressed water colour paper when using any type of water colour techinque; ie markers, ink pad lids, copics, water colour pencils, etc.

I did some stamping and cardmaking at my friends house. She had WWWcrayons. I fell in love with how easy they are to use. And, I can paint them brighter or softer depending on how much water I use.
I love mine, got them when they came in the big set. I use them in various ways as has been mentioned, but I think my fav is coloring on the stamp and then spritzing with a fine mist of water. Makes me look much better than I am! LOL They really last a long time.
