Default SU scissors?

Last night I cut out 3 stamp sets with my fiskars scissors, the little ones. They work OK but they get all gunky so when I go to scrap I have to clean all that adhesive off. SO my question to all you brilliant ladies is "Should I bite the bullet and buy the SU scissors for cutting rubber?" Here's why I haven't- for their cost I could buy another stamp set so I ALWAYS do that then end up in the same gunky mess! I;m going to a show tomorrow so any help you could provide would be appreciated. Do you own them? Are they worth it?
Gratefully yours,
Noddy

i just got them with my starter kit and let me tell you I was kicking myself for not gettting them sooner! They still get gunky from the adhesive, but that is ok with me. they are well worth the investment!

When I bought my first stamp sets before becoming a demo, I figured there was no need to buy the SU! scissors because I could just use my little Cutter Bee scissors, which are super-sharp. However, I quickly discovered that those Cutter Bees didn't work well for cutting stamps. So when I got my demo starter kit, which includes the SU! craft/rubber scissors, I saw the light and I tell all my customers (OK, all TWO of them so far ) how important it is to use the SU! scissors. I'll definitely push them at my workshops. For one, they cut all the way to the tip, which really helps when you're trimming the rubber. The Fiskars and Cutter Bees don't do that. Also, the grip is comfortable, and I think it's a good idea in general to have a separate pair of scissors just for trimming stamps...they will still get sticky, but then you don't have to worry about dulling your other paper-crafting scissors or cleaning them off all the time. (Like you, I use my Fiskars and Cutter Bees for scrapping.)

So there is a very long-winded answer to your question! I definitely think they're worth the $20.

They are awesome to cut your rubber with. They go through it like "butta" and the handles are comfortable on your hands. But they also get gunky. Simply wipe them off with a baby wipe, or nail polish remover on a cloth and the gunky is gone. I love mine and am now considering getting the little paper snips scissors.

Default SU Scissors

I LOVE my rubber scissors and to clean them I run them through my versamark pad. Be careful when wiping them off though - they are VERY sharp (take it from experience).

I can't beleive I waited so long to get the craft and rubber scissors. They are really wonderful - sharp, comfortable, make trimming the stamps much less of a chore. I thought it was just demo puffery, but it really isn't
I have to say I love the snips, too. Just be careful not to snip your skin! Thay are also well worth the price.

As a person with carpal tunnel, I could not live without the SU scissors. And if you just can't spend the money, the scissors are a level one "Great Rewards" item, that's how I got mine!

I would definitely get them; I loved mine the minute I got them.

I've had my first pair about two years; they need to be sharpened and I have a pair I rec'd about a month ago that I am using until I get my original pair sharpened.

You won't want to part with these once you try them. They are wonderful and make trimming your stamps a joy not a job.

I went an entire year without getting the SU scissors. I just got them in my Demo Kit and am kicking myself for not getting them sooner. I have ruined two pairs of Cutter Bees trying to cut my stamp sets out. I feel that they are the #1 most valuable tool in the entire catty.

I've used my little Fiskars scissors to cut rubber/adhesive for a while, too.
They do work o.k.
Just recently I bought some Kai scissors. What a WORLD of difference they are!

I'd recommend those for a new purchase.
http://www.sundayint.com/ has them at a good price.

I hope no one is offended by this...

I too did not want to spend the money for the scissors from the catty but needed SOMETHING better than the Fiskars I was using.

I went to Ebay and searched for some scissors that cut rubber (in the craft...stamping...tools section). I got a pair for less than $5 and that included the shipping!! They are by Allary and look exactly the same as the ones in the book and work very well!

I would take a look - save the money to buy more stamps!!

I have never used a pair of scissors that cut as easily as these do through rubber. I love mine and would never use anything else after trying these. I would just bite the bullet and buy them you won't regret it!

I have the SU scissors and love them. Then I found these same Allary craft scissors at the Dollar store (yes they sell on Ebay too) and thought "what the heck" so I bought them. They WORK!! and they work as well as the SU scissors.

I was using my fisker micro point scissors to cut stamps, and they were ok, but one weekend my mom brought me her SU scissors to try, since I was complaining about how my hands always hurt after cutting out stamp sets (had just finished cutting out Mini Mates! OUCH!) I tried them on one stamp and knew I had to have them. I have not gotten any new stamp sets to use them with, but have used them to trim up some of my old sets that I did not trim properly. I love them and can't believe it took so long for me to get them. I would say try someone elses if you are not sure, that will convince you!

I LOVE my craft and rubber scissors!

There are 2 things that I do that have helped with them:

1. At Walmart I bought the Fiskars scissor sharpener for about $5, it works very nicely for keeping them very sharp.

2. They used to get very sticky from the adhesive in the stamps, but I found a great solution to that problem. First I cleaned them well with Goof Off (or Goo Gone or something like that). Now everytime I want to assemble stamps I open the scissors all the way and then press the open blades into my versamark pad. Do this to both sides of the blades and your scissors will not get sticky any more! This lasts for multiple stamp set cuttings and then i just do it again.

Try it...you'll like it!

I did the same thing before I became a demonstrator. I just couldn't justify spending $20 on a pair of scissors. Boy was I disappointed!!! They were worse than my super sharp Fiskars scissors!

The SU scissors are worth twice their price! I'm sorry I didn't get them from the start. I recommend them to everyone.

Hi!
First, I am not a demo. I bought my Kai rubber scissors online and spent $13 including shipping. For the life of me I can't rememebr the name of place I got them though! Try a search on "Kai scissors" and see what comes up

I have to agree with Jessica. I bought a pair of those scissors on ebay and the next week I found them at the dollar store. They work ok, but the SU! scissors are WAY better. I couldn't believe the difference. (I too didn't get them until I got them in my starter kit) They are so much easier to handle and can trim the rubber perfectly. I love the way it cuts all the way to the point and how closely you can trim your stamps. I know it seems like it is a lot of money to pay for a pair of scissors, but they are well worth it. After all, if you were a chef, wouldn't you invest in a good set of knives????

The thing that bothers me about those people selling those Allary scissors on Ebay is that you KNOW they must have gotten them at Dollar Tree for a $1 and they are scalping people for the difference.

Default Yes, invest

I've been SU for 5 years and have listened to everyone tell me I HAD to get those scissors... I ignored them and used my dollar store scissors... until I got the SU ones from Great Rewards. I cannot believe I waited this long. They are fantastic and well worth the $20 investment.

I, too, thought I could make do with the ones I had. Big mistake!!! My dd (dog daughter in this case) thinks they are the BOMB, too! Well, at least the handles. She's eaten 2 pairs already! I've finally outsmarted her...I keep them in the box of scraps & she hasn't figured out how to get in there........yet. I was using the Fiskars shears & thought they were good enough until I tried the craft & rubber scissors. Once I switched I had my customers cut scraps of rubber with both & converted several of them. To get rid of the sticky mess I use goo gone. Takes it right off without taking part of my finger too. One hint though; keep tabs on your fingers at all times. I got carried away once (or twice...I'm a slow learner ) & cut my finger. Yup, had a notch in it that was pretty deep. They are very sharp, even after mounting lots & lots of stamps.

I have the Dollare Tree ones but my sister-in-law has the SU ones. If I'm at her house when my stuff comes in I use hers and I just use mine when I'm home. I would rather spend my money on accossories or stamps.

You must have the SU scissors! They are the best and make life so much easier! I don't know why I even bothered trying to cut corners at 1st by using a $10.00 pair from Wal Mart!

Default SU Sissors

I use "un-du " to clean my SU sissors...works perfectly and doesn't remove your nail polish!!! You can purchase this at AC Moore, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc...probably even Wallmart!

I was the same way ... and just let me say... it is like cutting butter with the scissors from SU!.... i wish i would have bot them sooner.

they make a big difference! and when they get gunky.. just take some alcohol to clean them up.. also you have to take them to a specaial person to sharpen them when they get dull... that is not a big deal i just wanted you to know they can be sharpened

have a great day.
