Well, to be honest, I was hoping for something more....there's so much neat stamping stuff out there I was hoping SU would be going in that direction....
I can't wait to see them!!! I just went to the store yesterday and bought some stuff to make a stencil to paint a saying on my wall! Now, I'm going to wait and see if they have the saying I want!! That'll save me a ton of time and work!!!

Were evolution true, Mothers would have more than 2 hands!
I'll join the disappointed band wagon. I was really hoping for something truly novel and new or for them to start selling stamps with the option of with or without the wood.

We knew it wasn't going to be just unmounted stamps because they announced that it would be a "new product line". We figured it had to be something totally new for all the hoopla.

I'll reserve my judgment until I see the actual product. However it would have been nice to have seen something in the crafty area that would fit in or expand with the current product offerings.

This does not excite me at all, I have seen the "writing on the walls" in decorating mags and the store I work in sells some. Not my thing. Oh goody, I can concentrate my little bit of money on the new stamp sets. Yay.
No prices in the info I received, but we customers can start ordering them on July 1st...so my guess is that our demos will be giving us a brochure on it very soon.
Stickers for my walls does not thrill me. I was hoping for something stamp-related. Oh well. That'll leave me more monies to spend at SU! and other places for stamping stuff. hehe!
Best thing I've read all day, you took the words right out of my mouth.
Why in the world would they do this instead of bettering their products or expanding on their products, or.....or....or......
Cuttlebug folders in SU coordinating patterns would have made me PIMP! Bringing back and improving on the scrapbook line. Offering more sets that AREN'T stinking flowers!
So does a demonstrator have to sell it... What if they want to stick to just stamps?
I think that a demonstrator doesn't HAVE to sell it but if it's available thru SU and someone wants to buy it, then a demo could sell it if someone wanted it. However, if a demo doesn't want to spend time presenting it (e.g. marketing it) then no, it's certainly not a requirement.
Just like scrapbooking isn't required of all demos but those who love it or even like it a little can demo it or just mention it and show the corresponding pages in the catty with Simply Scrapping kits, scrapbooks, rub ons, etc.
A scrapbooking oriented demo can focus on the SB related aspects of SU and less on the cardmaking.
Same with this, I think.....it's whatever "floats your boat". Jan
Please please please don't feel let down. It is phase I and they have lots of things up their sleeves for the future. Plus we haven't even seen the new catalog yet. I am sure there will be lots of new "stuff" "stampin' junk" "stamps", or whatever you'd like to call it, for us to get excited about. SU can't carry everything, but they do try to have a nice variety.
If they don't carry something you'd really like , please email them or your demonstrator. They do listen if enough people contact them.
I was hoping for something different, but will embrace this new line. It may or may not be for me so I am looking forward to seeing what else is coming.
Decor elements are not just for walls...they are easily applied to wood, glass, mirrors, tins, etc...so you can create artwork that isn't for your walls...
Imagine finding a $2 wooden picture frame...add some paint and a Decor element and under $10 you have a great handmade gift to give or decorate your home with...
Get a nice prefinished wooden plaque - paint it with acrylic paint...drill some holes in the top and string some beautiful ribbon through and rub on a monogram...for less than $20 you would have a great housewarming or wedding gift...

You know, I seem to be noticing on this site a big trend AWAY from SU - and when I look around at local craft and scrapbook stores I'm seeing all kinds of products that SU doesn't compete with.
I think people's reaction to the latest product intro above has also been largely negative (there's also another forum about it) - that is except for a few demos who need to protect their customer base (which I totally understand), but I'm really puzzled why SU chose to go into this particular new line when there's so much more they could do papercraft wise compared to what's out there? I guess time will tell and I'm really hoping the new catty will knock my socks off, but the previews I've seen from the cruise and the new preview set don't impress me much.... but like I said hopefully it will be better than it looks...
I have to say that I am disappointed as well! There's so much stuff out there and I'm bummed that this is what they chose to add to their collection. I was looking for scrapbooking supplies. I LOVE making cards but I love scrapbooking too! I wish they would carry more supplies for scrapping! I mean, I WOULD BUY IT!!!

I don't think you are seeing demos mostly positive about it because they are protecting their customer bases. I think you are seeing mostly demos excited about it, because they have actually seen what SU is going to offer. They've heard the excitement from the owners from Stampin' UP. They know this only phase one in a whole new exciting endeavor. But, most importantly they've seen the line SU will be offering and they are already in love.

I've actually read from a lot of demos that they aren't excite though - and then there are just a few that are defending this (which I totally understand - it's your livelihood!)
I know that I would quit my SU club this summer, but I really want to support my demo who is struggling with this all. If it wasn't for my personal connection with her I think I'd step away from SU.
