Question Storage of 6 by 6 paper?

How do you store your 6 by 6 paper pads? I'm fine until I start cutting into them. I like to keep the paper together since they generally coordinate so well, but I'm ending up with a pile that is a mess and doesn't stack well. I'd love to hear your ideas!! Thanks in advance!!

I keep each of my 6" x 6" paper pads in its own quart-size ziplock bag. That way I can keep scraps from a pad together with the full sheets. The cover of the pad stays in the bag, too, so I know which paper pad I'm using (so I can note it in the supply list when I upload a card or share it on my blog).

I keep all the ziplock bags in two of the large lunch box tins (remember the white tins that were so popular for altering with designer paper several years ago?). All but three of my pads are Basic Grey, so I have all the BG ones in alphabetical order, and then the three "orphans" are behind the last of the BG pads.

I have a plastic box that I keep all of mine in. I even cut down my 12x12 into 6x6 sizes.

The plastic box I think I found it at Joanne's. It comes with dividers and a lid.

I asked this same question on a different company's Facebook page. I decided to make folders for them, but I am not sure that I will like that.

I might try the quart size ziploc bags.

I had seen one stamper's pad solution using rectangular baskets like Michaels sells for CD's or whatever. Attractive, portable, easy to leaf through.

I bought a few clear plastic "shoe" boxes from the hardware store (for about $2 each). They hold two complete rows of papers (sideways) plus a few extra down the sides. Off the top of my head I'm guessing that each box holds at least 20-30 pads depending on how thick. I just put them on a bookshelf and sort them by manufacturer in each box.

I store mine in mini milk crates from the dollar store, they're the perfect size for the pads. I got this idea from Betsy Veldman. I like to keep my scraps together with the pads, so I just place them inside the front of the pad and secure it with a thick rubberband. This usually keeps the scraps from falling out.

I write with a black sharpie what the pad is and keep them in piles. It works out great for me..I keep each company together and then can alphabetize each one under the company. Easy easy to find what I need.

I use the clear plastic boxes that PTI's stamp sets come in. I can usually fit two pads in one box, and no more falling scraps! I keep the boxes in a plastic bin under my work table.

I put the scraps inside the front cover and then put a pony tail hairband around the pad and stack them on my shelf.

I use these:

Sterilite - 2093: ClearView Wide 3 Drawer Unit

At 12 x 12, works well for 6 x 6 pads or sheets in stacks of four. I keep most of my stamping supplies in these drawers.

Years ago I picked up CD storage boxes in the dollar spot at Target. I keep several pads in each box. If I have any scraps from on of the pads I simply slip it back inside the pad. Sometimes I have taken a clear envelope to hold scraps and placed it inside the pad or in front of it.

Here is a photo of the box. You can tell how old they are by the way I decorated the box...lol. It is from 2006. One photo shows the box open with twill tabs and loose 6x6 sheets. I was originally storing papers from a kit company I was designing stamps for. I now also use the boxes for 6x6 pads.

The MFT Design Team has a thread in their forum on how to store DSP including 6x6. They have some great videos, too, I had a blast watching them!

I bought the 6.5 inch resealable cellophane bags (you can get 100 from Amazon -(Amazon.com: Clear Cello/Cellophane Bags - Resealable Lip N Tape - 100 Bags - 4.75" x 6.5": Home & Garden) that I use to store my cards in. I use some for storing the six inch paper that does NOT come on a pad as well as the individual pads. I then store them in pretty rectangular basket that I got from Michaels. I just flip through and select the one I want and even my "scraps" get their own see through bag. Because the bags are 6.5 inches and not the large food bags, the stack nicely and don't take up too much space.

Loving these ideas! I use a narrow DVD tower for mine....it's easy to flip through them, plus since the shelves aren't long, they don't sag from the weight. If I have a large scrap, I will put it back into the pack it belongs to....otherwise, I have one dedicated drawer to designer paper scraplets.

These work great for storing the old style SU punches too. I have 2 of them and 5 drawers are filled with punches. They hold up great!

My solution for the 6x6 pad storage is an accordian photo folder from Hobby Lobby. It has 14 slots. I have a separate one for Christmas papers. The paper and scraps are in one slot. I can close it up away from dust and carry it from one area to another.

You can see it on my blog here

I don't use any special way of storing my pads but when my paper pads fall apart at the binding (when I only use one sheet of paper) I use washi tape or my pretty duck tape to secure the binding again. I can't stand it when my pads fall apart and this really helps.

I just got my first PTI and was surprised at the heavy packaging, especially since that plastic is non-recyclable. I'll be happy to find a use for them. Thanks for the idea!

i put my 6x6 paper pads/packs into polypockets (the ones you put in a ring binder). that way i can keep my pad and any offcuts together so if i only need a small piece i can search thru the offcuts before cutting into a larger sheet or searching thru a bit box for theat ideal piece of paper. in fact, i do this with all my patterned papers.

i then fold down the top of the pocket and store them standing up in a storage box (shoe-box sized - or DVD storage box) with the lid off so i can flip thru them all (and there are quite a few!!)

I keep mine in CD storage boxes from IKEA called Kasset. They fit perfectly. (also great for storing stamps in CD cases!) I keep scraps inside the front cover and store them spine down so the scraps don't fall out. I rewrite the paper's name so it is readable when upside down. If the pack falls apart, I store it in a ziplock bag or use a small binder clip to keep it together. Now that I've read the other suggestions, I may use pretty packing tape I got for $1 at Michaels to reseal the spine.

One small problem I have is that when upside down and packed tightly, it can be hard to find the front cover of each pad. I will probably add a small tab to each cover made with my SU! Tab punch. And write the name on it. I won't let too much stick up or the lid won't cover the paper. I like the lid on so the paper won't fade as I work in a room with lots of windows.

One other tip that works for any paper Pack: once you figure out which CS, ribbon or CoPic colours work with the paper, write it on the cover! That way you don't have to try and remember!

I use office envelope holders - just the right size space to hold 6 x 6 and they go from low to high so are easy to check out what's there.

I store my 6 x 6 designer paper pads in cut-down file folders and placed in a plastic box. Here is a photo that shows what one of the plastic boxes looks like.

Oh, love the PTI box idea!!
I store mine in one of the Jetmax cubes from M's
The one that has 4 small square drawers is a perfect fit for the paper AND the CD cases to store stamps. This is also where I store my PTI Sets
