Default Sticky Situation?

I've been having trouble finding an adhesive that isn't sticky strip (red tape) to attach cardstock that I've sprayed with water, crumpled, flattened back out, heated to dry - is that confusing? See this card:

http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1

It's the background behind the moose. When I try to attach this to the layer under it - it never sticks unless I use red tape - which is more expensive. This wouldn't be a big deal except I use this technique for make-n-takes at my workshops and stamp clubs. I've tried cheap 2x tape, mono-adhesive, but nothing works.

How do you get the pieces to stick without red tape?

Have you tried glue dots? Not that I've tried it to stick what you are talking about, but just thinking here.

What about a stampin' dimensional or some foam tape?

I use mono on both layers... I read somewhere (here even?) that sticking the mono to mono makes it stick better, and it has worked for me.

I use Scotch Double Stick tape for this. I've had very good luck with it. Mono - no way!

Try a little crystal effects. It'll stick anything.

I use double sided scotch tape for EVERYTHING- even cards like this one. Give it a try!

My all time favorite and cheap adhesive is Alene's Thick Tacky Glue. Make sure you buy the "thick" variety in a white bottle. It doesn't warp paper and holds everything. The only thing I've had problems getting it to adhere to is fun foam.

I agree with the double sided scotch tape. That stuff's awesome! I also, once in a while, use spray adhesive. To attach CS permanently I'll spray a coat of adhesive on the back of my CS, let it dry, and it sticks really well!
Right now I have 3M spray adhesive and the can lasts for a long time.

I use carpet tape! The stuff is SUPER sticky (just watch your initial placement - you CAN'T move it!) I get mine at Menards and I really like the duck brand (Manco?) I use it all the time for layering cards and for crumpled distress paper like you talked about with no problems. Walmart might even have it!

You could also use brads as extra holding power!

Thanks so much to all of you! I'm going to try some of these - the scotch double-sided tape doesn't work for me on this crumpled paper????
