Question Stamping on sugar cookies.

I got a request for 175 sugar cookies for wedding favors. The bride wants a monogram on the heart shaped cookie. I have a monogram stamp set. I mean how hard could it be. Just use the royal icing that hardens, use a edible coloring, stamp the monogram.

Anyone tried it? Or is it a disaster waiting to happen?

I have seen markers/ink at Michaels that are specifically for this in the cake decorating supplies. There are some inks that are non-toxic, but I think it would be preferable to use food grade ink.

A couple of years ago I was reading an article (with pictures) of how someone made a cake and decorated it with stamped images of Alice in Wonderland (From Stamp francisco). It looked like black stamping onto white royal icing. What I was most curious about, but they failed to give details about, was what 'ink' medium did they stamp the images with?

I've just tried a google search to find the article but couldn't locate it. I like your thinking though. It sounds like your on the right track. Good luck.

Here is the product I was thinking of. They're markers, so you may even be able to match their wedding colours:

Most manufacturers recommend that you use new, unused stamps for this. That way, they are food grade. Certain inks (like Stazon) can be toxic and it's hard to ensure that you've gotten them completely cleaned off.

There are edible ink cartridges that you can buy for your printer and then you print on the edible sugar paper. I will look for the article/blog for you.

I'd like to know how this turns out. My niece is getting married this winter and cookies would be a great idea!

You could also make a template and maybe airbrush the food coloring on to the cookie, more like a silk screen look to it?

There is the new Cricut just for cake decorating. I think it cuts out fondant and gum paste.

Hi!
I have a Cricut Cake and it will cut fondant or gum paste out which would be perfect for what you're doing. You can cut the fondant in advance and then use icing to stick the fondant or gum paste to the cookies. Of course, the fondant or gum paste can be colored to match the wedding colors.

For those who don't know, the big difference between the Cricut Expression and the Cricut Cake is that the Cake is stainless steel inside, completely food safe, otherwise it's a Cricut Expression with all the features and abilities. The machines can use any of the Cricut Cartridges already on the market.

I have had my Red Cricut Cake since they first came out in May. Now, just this past Monday, there is a White Martha Stewart Cricut Cake, also available are 3 Martha Stewart designed cartridges which have some images that are the same as her punches and her border punches. Which means you can put the MS Cake Cartridge in a regular expression and cut paper borders or put a Mickey Mouse cartridge into a cake and cut Mickey Mouse cookies or cake decorations.

If you check out my blog you will see some really simple cupcakes done with fondant used to spell out Happy Birthday. Quick and easy to do. Letters can be layered and such, I was going with simple.

There are much better and prettier examples of the cake all over You Tube and the Internet, I'm just learning.

It's the post after the Octopus Wall Vinyl. DD and I were thinking the Octopus would be darling cut in fondant draped over a round cake. We'll have to try that next.

I saw a blog post yesterday, if I could only find it again, where they stamped a wedding image on glass plates using a mixture of food coloring and powdered sugar. That may work too - I'll see if I can find the site I was looking at.

I don't know if this is OK to say - but I have a giveaway on my blog this week from a company called Fancy Flours. The giveaway is actually a set of stamps to stamp on cookies. If you click the link in my post, it takes you to the stamp set and there are directions there for how to do it.

My daughter just got married last month. She used cookies for her wedding favors. We had a personalized stamp made with the names and date of the wedding. We made sugar cookies and used sprinkles in the colors of the wedding. Then we stamped the name stamp on clear labels and put the labels on the front of the clear goodie bag. Tied the goody bag with ribbon.

Default stamping on frosted sugar cookies

what we did for my sisters wedding is purchased one of those blank pads (the kind you can dump any color ink onto), we colored it with food coloring, then used that to stamp on the dried royal icing. Worked BEAUTIFULLY!

Great ideas here. The bride to be is still "pondering" what it is that she exactly wants for favors.

Better ponder quickly, I work a full time job, and help take care of two grandsons.

Country Living and SU did stamped cookies a few years ago. I can't find the Country Living article but here are a few pictures.

I know you can use glycerine to stamp with, could you dust with colouring you use to colour flowers, a bit like chalking, and see what that looks like.

I saw this done on the network challenge and it looked nice.

Jen del Muro did a Project of the Month at The Cat's Pajamas stamping on cookies. It's important to only use clear stamps, unmounted or and unused rubber stamp. Problem being the cushion. Things can grow in there that shouldn't be eaten.
