Default Stamping is dangerous to Pumpkin Pie!

Well, since my pumpkin pies weren't quite done yet, I figured I would go out to the next room, my stamping room, and stamp some images for the Wish RAK since I haven't done that in a while.

Well, guess who forgot that the pies were still in the oven. Oh dear! I got so involved in my stamping and adressing envelopes that I fogot to take them out! The edges look a little burnt, but I hope they are all still ok. And I hope the family understands the need to have burnt pie crust so I could do some stamping! lol!!!

It's fine!!! Scrape off the burnt stuff, throw on some whipped cream and you've got pie and stamping!! it's a win/win situation!

I did the same thing last night when I was on SCS and I burnt one side of the hamburgers. So when I served the other side it looked good.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE.....

So sorry to hear about your pie! I would do the exact same thing. I am constantly getting distracted when I cook. Hope they taste good!

LOL here because my DH wouldn't let me go sit down at my crafting table last night until he saw me take the pies out of the oven! That means you're not alone!!

hi, here is a suggestion for those baking, take the time with you in your stamp room, and when it dings, you know that you have stuff in the oven.

Oh yeah, I can't tell you how many times I have been jarred from stamping bliss by the sound of a pot boiling over in the kitchen. Hope your pies are alright.

Too funny - because my DH said to finish baking before I went into my craft room - I too apparently have a stamping while cooking problem

Sadly I've set a pot on the stove to make hard boiled eggs and gone off to stamp. Never heard the timer and quite awhile later I noticed this burning smell....yep...boiled all the water out of the pan AND burnt the eggs to the bottom of the pan. Good thing my nose works and I could shut it off before the firemen arrived.

I use the timer on my oven all the time for other things-adding water to the pool, watering the flowerbeds, watering the backyard since these sprinklers are not on timer, etc. This as 'saved' me so many times because I get easily distracted/involved in something.

Hope the crafting project you went to work on turned out okay!

I almost did the same thing with my apple pie tonight. I still had about 10mins left on the timer, so I can upstairs to check emails, PM, blogs, etc. and I got all caught up at Gina K's blog (if you haven't seen it today I highly recommend stopping by, but have have tissues with you for the video). Next thing I realize is that I'm very lucky the buzzer on my oven is VERY loud!!!! otherwise I may have just had to have eaten the whole thing myself......hummmmm......maybe that's not a bad idea afterall.

Hope your pie is ok. If your family is anything like mine, they don't care how it looks it all about how it tastes, and I'm sure yours is FAB!!!!!

Yep, I set a timer for everything. Luckily my oven and microwave both have timers. I just have to remember which one is set for what.

I use my timers on both the microwave and stove also because I get distracted with stamping. Often, I'll put a cold soda in the freezer for 30 min and set the timer so the soda doesn't explode! That's happened before.

Ohhh, you have been to my house, have you??? The p-chef timer was the best buy EVER!!! I just have to remember to TAKE it WITH ME!!!! I always set it, but sometimes leave it on the frig, and wander off to the craft room. oooyyiieee!! Hope your pie is OK. It would be a shame to wreck a pumpkin pie.
Happy Thanksgiving

I hate it when I do stuff like that- I bet if that happened to me I'd get so frustrated I would probably eat the burnt pie to console myself! At least you didn't do that!

I set a timer and take it with me if I leave the kitchen to go elsewhere in the house. I can't really hear what's going on in the kitchen when I'm in my stamp room with the radio on.

As for the pies, sometimes the dark, crusty edges are the best anyway.

I have had to throw away several pots, i will put water on to boil to make ice tea and go in my stamp room and wait for it to boil, (it boils fast when you aren't in there) when i think of it i run to the kitchen and oops all the water is gone and the pot is just about ready to catch on fire.

I'm easily distracted as well. I know it drives my dh crazy when something is burning or boiling over because I left to do one thing, and got side-tracked. I'm glad to know I'm in good company! Happy Thanksgiving!

LOL!! I forgot about my last pumpkin pie too and went into town. 4.5 hours later when I came home I discovered my pie. Much to my amazement it was still edible and tasty. I can't figure it out. The oven was set at 350 degrees. It should have been burned to a crisp.

This has happened to me too, except what alerted me were the POP! POP! POP! sounds of the eggs exploding!

So glad to know that I'm not alone with this problem!! Sad thing is that my stamp room is right next door to the kitchen. I had the timer set, and turned it off when it went off, but they just weren't quite done yet, so I left them in for a few more minutes and didn't reset the timer!

They tasted ok, dh and I had to try a piece last night just to make sure!

Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and don't burn the pies!
