Default Stampin' Up!

I am curious as to what is the best (beneficial) time to resign up as a demo?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Robin,

What are you looking for in terms of benefits? The sign-up special right now is great because you can get the sneak peek items in your starter kit in addition to the $30 extra in your starter kit. Right now, you can choose $155 in product for only $99.

Note that this is not a link to my site and is not a recruiting attempt, but here is the generic link to the Stampin' Up site where you can read about joining: http://www.stampinup.co/home/join

Joining now also gets you a new catalog and lets you order the new catalogs, so you can select certain new catalog items in your starter kit that you can use for your first workshop / open house. Then you can have a party May 31 or that weekend, and your attendees/guests (including online orders!) will be able to shop from the current annual catalog (including retiring stamps) or the new annual catalog. You get 30% commission on your first workshop if done within 45 days, so that may be a good financial incentive to join soon as well - your friends and potential customers in your area you might advertise to may be excited to be able to have a stamping event that weekend and be able to order from the new catalog after seeing/using the new products you picked out in your starter kit.

I am confused- if one is joining by ordering the starter kit (which I think now can be any items one wants, one wouldn't get to see the new catalogue until they received that starter kit order? What am I not understanding here?

Shirl, you can indeed include any items of your choice in your starter kit. You just pick out any $155 (US) worth of products, pay $99 + tax, and you're set.

Regarding ordering new products, demos can select certain pre-order items from the new catalog to order starting last week. You'll see a PDF of those products when you go through the joining process (as mentioned in this thread: SU New Catty Sneak Peak by humboldthoney79 at Splitcoaststampers). You can't order everything yet, but there's enough to get started and have a fun open house/workshop, and then once you join, you can have access to the full catalog online until your catalog shows up in the mail.

And, the catalogue is online. So as soon as you sign up as a demo, you get your access to the demo account (they send the link via email) and could go in and view the PDF catty before your starter kit arrived to you.

Demos can only order the Sneak Peek and Hostess items now. All other new items will have to wait until the catalog goes live at noon MT on May 31.

Wouldn't the starter kit for a new demo now include the 2013-14 catalog? It would seem odd for her to receive eight copies of the nearly-closed one.

The current catalog is good until June so new demos will end up getting both.

I signed up as a demo a few years ago to get the starter kit deal and had no intention of selling, and am not active now. Can you resign up to get the latest deal?

So what is the average out of pocket cost for a demo outside the cost of products? I've read you have to pay for credit card purchases, what else do demos pay for ?

What if you can't build up a customer base in the first three months?

What if I can't afford the $300 quarterly cost in the first 3 months, what happens then?

Tina, you actually have until the end of the next quarter to meet your minimum. So if you signed up today you would need to meet $300 by the end of September. Between new catalog and the holiday catalog that comes out in July, that shouldn't be too hard.

What happens? Absolutely nothing. You keep the starter kit and anything else you've purchased. You simply stop being a demo.
