Default Stamped tiles...uses?

I see a lot of pretty tiles in the galleries. The only use I can think of is coasters for drinks. Am I missing something? Also, how do you seal them?

Thanks,

Amanda

A friend of mine tiled them on her kitchen wall right along the chair rail across one wall. It looks really neat. I'll have to see if she will let me take a picture

The larger coasters you can use for coasters - if you look in the techniques section and search for tiles there are a ton of discussions about tiles and when/if to seal them.

You can also do decorative tiles - if you go to a home imporvment store you can buy # or name tiles and a holder - you could just buy the holder and do your own name or numbers...

I am planning on doing some tiles for coasters as gifts this year - I am going to use tumbled tiles, Staz-on and sharpies - then bake in the oven to "set" the image.

I am also planning on making some decorative tiles to hang for friends- I have one I got as a gift - it is decorated and in a wooden frame - the hard part is going to be finding square frames to hold the tiles.

The small tiles can be used as magnets - I have made some using staz-on and sharpies and just heat set with my embossing gun. Slap a magnet on the back and viola...

My husband suggested getting a masonary bit and drilling holes in the top corners so you could use cord of some kind to hang them. Just haven't gotten to Home Depot yet for one of them.

Default tumbled marble tiles

When you bake these to heat set them, what temperature do you use, and how long do you keep them in the oven?
Thanks!

I have one that I use for a spoon rest on my stovetop too. It has little clear stones on the bottom (for a stand) and I also use it as a trivet for hot dishes on the table...
