You are so sweet. Believe me, they did not happen quickly or easily, but I am excited to give them to all the great ladies I know. I have to make some baby shower cards, LOTS of thank-yous, and I would love to get Father's Day knocked out while we still have some rainy weather. My DH can't stand to be inside if the sun is shining, so my stamping time is running short. I wanted to make simple one layer cards for the ladies at church, but now I am feeling a little overwhelmed at the thought. I don't know if I can stomach 100+ cards in 2.5 wks. (I tend to get in over my head, and nothing gets finished...hence 72 "Easter cards" that magically become Mother's day cards. Hope you find some inspiration! God bless!

I just updated my signature line today - I'm in the hole! Those SU purchases add up quick! And the trips to HL certainly don't help! Oh well.

I have been stamping/scrapping regularly (at least twice a month since the New Year) and am trying my best to use what I have ... obviously there's some room for improvement, though.

I'm going to make my mom, MIL, and grandma-in-law a set of cards for Mother's Day ... that should add up quick

Went in the red today. UGH! Had to pay for an order at Viva Las Vegastamps. I've never ordered from there before, but their pound 'o rubber and 3 country grab bags for a total of 20.40 with s/h was too good for me to pass up.

Guess I gotta get stamping.

Ut oh...guess I'm in trouble next month! I'm headed to Las Vegas and that was one place on my list of stamp places to go...sigh. I got my rubber romance order today...eieiei! I'm seriously in the red. Through this challenge it has me seriously considering dropping my SU demonstratorship. I'm in a small town, I don't hold classes or have stamp friends here, I have a few friends that are customers that are out of state, but I mostly make my minimums myself and it was really hard for me to do this last quarter (there wasn't really anything I "had" to have) and I have another $300 to do again by the end of June??? What to do, what to do...lol. It would really help me get out of the red, lol. Thanks for letting me blab...

Being a SU demo definitely doesn't save us money in the long run, does it? It's like being a kid in a candy store!

Although I agree -- there really haven't been that many sets in the latest catalogs that I've had to have. Still, just restocking cardstock and buying the occasional set has helped me meet my minimums. And a stamping friend orders from me, too.

So what's in Vegas? I mean stamping-wise because I know all the casinos are great at separating people and their money !

I honestly don't know what I could buy this quarter other than in color c/s, gosh I'm bummed to see those colors go! I haven't been crazy about anything in the last 2 catty's. Plus there's too many other company's I've found out there (thanks to scs and everyone's wonderful galleries) that I'm finding I "have to have" their stamps. Ah well, I have a lil' while to think it over.

As for stamp places in Las Vegas...I know about Viva Las Vegas because my friend use to live there and found random stamps I was looking for. She said the place is HUGE. There's also a great scrapbooking place called pebbles in my pocket I like to go to. It's a really cute place that has the cutest scrapbooking stuff. Other than that I haven't really looked up any other places. My time is very limited (to morning-early afternoon only) and I have to share that time with the hubby's hobby too...cars...which means he'll want to hit as many junk yards as he can while we're there. Blah!

Anyhow...I'm looking SO forward to the trip. It'll be our first time going away without our daughter...we'll be married 15 yrs this Sept. Crazy.

Have a wonderful trip, Tanya! You definitely deserve it after all that you and your DH have been through in the past year.

As far as saving money, have you checked out the WRAK groups or the PIF threads? They are a great way to get a bunch of images without investing in quite so many stamps. I've stocked up Elzybells and Thomas Kinkade images that way.

Both can be very addicting, but I've managed to get myself to a manageable level after a few weeks .

Default Oh well...

As you can see by my sig lines - I'm just a 'tad' in the red ....just completed two shoebox swaps and an SCS mail swap plus numerous birthday cards and graduation cards.....For May,I'm onto a new SCS swap, two wedding cards, three more birthday cards, and of course, mother's day cards.

I'm really enjoying the SCS mail swaps....I'm going to be taking advantage of them more often.....

After that, I plan on making up some card packs to give as gifts (assorted birthday, get well, and thank you cards) using the layouts from Sheetloads - those templates are great - thanks for the heads up!).....

Hope everyone is enjoying some great weather - it is great here (I live in South Jersey).....the sun is out, it is cool buy you don't need a jacket.....now, if we could just get the pollen count down, I would be in great shape

Carol

Very impressive productivity, Carol!

I'm loving the SheetLoads issues, too; they work well for those swaps!

Our weather is gorgeous today, but we're supposed to get storms rolling in tomorrow. It's a tough decision whether I should be outside planting or inside stamping. Oh well, maybe I'll do both .

I need to get busy on some thank yous and about a hundred other types of cards. Anyone on this thread have a scorepal? I have been considering buying one to save myself some time when folding masses of cards. Any suggestions? Is it your go-to tool? I know there are scor-pal threads, but I need the info from my Stamp to spend friends....how badly do I need it? Thanks in advance.

Victoria,
I saw a demonstration on one a couple weeks ago at a function I was at and to be honest...I ended up not paying attention and went back to working on my projects. I really don't see what the hype is...other than to use it for boxes and stuff like that. If you're wanting to get it just to fold cards, I would say it's not worth it. I would suggest using/getting the scoring blade for your paper cutter to score your cards with. Do you have a bone folder? That's what I use and it works great for me
HTH...
Hugs,
Tanya

Thanks so much Jessica! It's been a rough year and we are looking forward toward the time away and a trip that is just for FUN

I've heard of the WRAK groups...but I'm not computer savvy and can't seem to find the place to go to sign up, lol.

I still haven't done my mother's day cards...ack...tomorrow, lol.

I hope everyone is having a great week!

Victoria -- I've thought about getting a Scor-pal, but it since I already have my bone folder and a Creative Memories cutter, I just use the measurements on the cutter and slide the BF through the groove for projects with lots of folding. Voila, a multi-purpose tool!

Still, I bet someone who actually has a Scor-Pal can give you lots of reasons why you should have one. Sharon (notimetostamp) has had quite a few blog posts and projects featuring that tool.

Tanya -- Wish RAK is a subforum of the RAK group. You join RAK first (under 'Group Memberships' in your User Control Panel) and then are eligible for WRAK. I've been able to try out lots of things before I decide if I really want to invest in them (photo corners, Bella baubles) and of course, you can get lots of images that way, too. For more immediate gratification, the PIF threads are the way to go for images, though.

Hi, I'm a lurker on this thread...
But, I love my score-pal. Got it for Christmas. I find it is great for making boxes, etc. and I am a demo, so I do lots of multiples of things. Someone said you don't need it if you're only scoring cards - I think I'd agree. But, if you do lots of different folds and boxes, it goes super fast using this tool! Just my .02!

Welcome to the challenge, smriti!

Jen -- thanks for the comments! It makes sense that a Scor-pal would be helpful for bulk projects.

smriti...
Welcome!
You're in La Jolla??? I was born in raised in San Diego. I was there earlier this year for a few weeks. I miss the nice weather but wow, has it grown since I moved away! I'm quiet happy being back in my lil' itty bitty hick town, lol. I do miss being able to have an In n' Out Burger and Rolled Tacos (oh and The Yougurt Mill our in El Cajon) when ever I get the craving. Anyhow...welcome to the challenge. I hope you'll be inspired to go shopping in your craft room

Default A good and bad day....

DH had a mild case of food poisoning over night into today...and ensconced himself on the sofa all day......in the dark....with the lights out....with the blinds closed.......

So, after food shopping (and the obligatory walk through AC Moore - came out empty handed!!!!) I holed up in the basement.

I made the birthday cards I needed for the month of May and knocked out 6 cards for a swap!

When I updated my signature I noticed that I had made a hugh mistake in my calculations....I'm much more behind the 8-ball than I thought!!!

I still have to do the wedding card, 2 mother's day cards, and 6 cards for one more swap....all this month! Plus I want to start working on some gift card sets....

How's everyone else doing?

Carol

Default What's happening

I have been trying to get some cards ready for a sale and I finally finished them. I haven't all my cards ready for mother's day or all the cards I need for the month of May, so I can relate to what your saying. I have attended a few Birthday card stacks so I have a few extra of those but it's the anniversary cards that I seem to need to get done.... now the good weather is starting to hit us here in Calgary and my greenhouse needs attention.... I am really stumped for sentiments for children's birthday cards. I spent almost 3 hours today trying to find some. Do any of you have any great sentiments for small toddlers (1-5 yrs. of age)? I could really use some help

Carol...
Sorry to hear about your hubby getting food poisoning...yuck! I had it once and it was awful
Glad to hear you had some time to knock out some cards though
I finished my mother's day cards today. I only made 12. Is this bad or what?!?!?!?...I told myself I'll cut up my dsp and however many pieces of paper for my layout is how many I'm making. I then had to pick who to send them to...ack! Last year I made 30-35. I felt bad, but my time is running short and I still have to make birthday cards for 3 of my nephews, a graduation card (my best friends daughter is graduating from college!), a friends b-day, my mom's b-day, and hubby's grandma's 90th b-day. All but 2 have to be done before I leave for vacation (not a real vacation) on May 9th. Ack!
I hope everyone has a fabulous week!
Happy Stamping

I haven't been here in a while. I spent some during April- certainly more than I earned!! However, in my defense, most of it was spent at the StampScrap Art Tour- and that was a once-a-year chance so I took it. Got lots of things I've never seen at all, or at least seen in person. I love EVERYTHING I bought so there was no impulse/regret after.

I also just submitted a TAC order. The offers for April were so good- I have not calculated what I *would* have spent, but I got a LOT of free stuff. Could not pass that up.

So, May will be better, right?

Thanks to everyone for the advise on the Scor-pal, I dug out my old paper cutter and scoring blade and saved my $40 for other fun stuff!
I got some birthday cards made this week, and some thank yous. I read a great thread last week about clean and simple (CAS). I am going to try to do more in that direction, though I love the very fancy cards I have seen. And I admit, I am a mass production kind of stamper. Usually 10 or more of the same card at once, and I always seem to use them up. But I still need a grad card for my DH for Saturday and thinking of you.
Anyone know of a good work-from-home job that's not being a demo???

It's officially May! I just realized that soon there will graduation parties to go to and showers and weddings. And I don't have cards made for any of these. I saw an adorable card on Dear Paperlicious using a sentiment out of the spring mini.... Anyone else have any recent purchases to share? Three months left in this catalog, any ideas what your final purchases will be?? Hope everyone is doing well! God bless.

Urgent question: Is the Occassions mini extended through June? And does anyone have the For Father (name?) set with the dog and boot, and tools? I have card club tonight and will have to decide if the mini is done this month. Thanks in advance!

You are so sweet. I've never browsed this thread and decided to see what it was all about so I came to the end and saw this reference to moi.

SU has chipboard on sale this month (MAY -- USA) so I'm going to stock up on chipboard letters. The small ones. I really like the look.

I spend way too much. I need to go back to the beginning of this thread and figure out how the math works. I'll be in the red for years I think!

Ack...so it's the beginning of the month and that means a signature update for me...eiyeiyeiyei!!!! Craft Warehouse, Archivers, Stamping Bella, Rubber Romance...another $100 added. That's not including the nesties hubby's getting me each month "just because" and $130 copic order...but that's "for Mother's day" so I didn't count that. I guess I'm paying for only using all SU all these years. I've only been purchasing outside of SU since Jan 2007. There's just sooooo many great things that have come out, I'm seriously enjoying it. Hate to see that I've spent so much, but love playing with all my goodies
I have to get a few cards done this week before I go to CA...graduations, tons of b-day, and I need to get some cards made for my parents. If you're interested to know what's going on with them, just read the link in my signature

Have a fabulous week everyone!

Well, another Monday, so I guess I'll post my progress. I started on April 11. I have earned $46 and spent $59.36. For me, that's a big deficit. Oh, well. Just gotta get stampin'!

Well, I too am not staying ahead of my spending but-------soon school will be over and I can use planning hours for stamping hours ---that should help. And compared to the cost of therapy-------my stamping/scrapping spending is very low so I guess I won't worry about it.

My husband is retiring this spring and our income will be reduced so maybe I am just buying ahead----developing a stock pile for when funds will be tighter. Who knows?

what ever---sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and other times you can duck it--not sure which I am doing at this point in my life.

Noticed the scor-pal discussion....I have had mine for six months and don't know how I would make cards with out it.....I like to do assembly line work and don't want to measure every little line so I really like it. When I was assembling cards for soldiers last month, it really helped.

I haven't had time to get on the computer for a while. I think I missed some of my exercise. Of course, I may have missed a trip to AC Moore as well, so it probably all balances out.

Yikes...I'm headed to Boise tomorrow...Archiver's always gets me into trouble I've actually been wanting some prima's, the big ones and hope they have them. I also need to get a container for my 12x12 DSP. The lil' plastic holders I have them in are cracked (guess that's what happens when you leave them in the car overnight and travel from 70 degree weather to 10, lol) and have holes at the bottom so my lil' scraps are fallin' out the bottoms. The are in need of replacing! That's it...that's all I'm going to buy, that's all I'm going to buy, that's all I'm going to buy...ha~yah right!
Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I know...spank me! anywho...guess what!!! I received a class gift (teacher appreciation/birthday/congrats on new job) from my students...a $100 gift card to michaels! I'm so excited that I had to share it with all of you!!! I hope everyone had a great Monday! I did!!!

Hi everyone! Pam, can't wait to hear what you buy at Michaels. Tanya, you will have to post what you think on the 12x12 paper holders. I need to get some of those too.
Well, I finally caved and bought Priceless at card club last week. I cannot wait to get in my hands!! I also bought another pack of the In Color paper and white embossing powder. I realized the clear just doesn't cut it. I have to get to work this month though. June is my month to be hostess at my card club, and I want to make the most of it!! I am already working on my wish list. I am thinking some punches, possibly the table top cutter (any opinions on this one?) and definitely the brass embossing template for Priceless. I can't wait!

So, I did ok with my spending in Boise the other day. I think under $15 for Archiver's and Michael's! Not bad. I got the 12x12 paper holder. It's like a rubbermaid box. Kinda cool I thought. I haven't had the time to put/sort my papers into it...have had a crazy week! Looks like they'll just lay ontop of eachother.
I'm headed out to CA in a lil' bit so if I'm quiet on here ya'll know why.
Have a Happy Mother's Day!
Hugs...
Tanya

I have been busy 'earning' my stamping spending money. DS is graduating from high school, so I made the announcements and picnic invitations (25 each). DD is getting married and I am making her shower invites (just getting started, but have 15 done so far!); I will also be making her wedding invites, etc. I just made several Mother's Day, graduation and birthday cards. My boss is being relocated so I made him a card and his asst is having a baby, so I made her a card. That's 76 cards in the last 2 weeks - gosh, no wonder I am tired! Now, how much have I earned???? Hopefully enough to pay for the nesties I just ordered! (and some bind it all wires, too!)

Keep up the great work everyone!!!

I'm so proud of myself! I went to Target dollar spot today, and the only thing I bought was a little CD wallet for the car!! No stamping supplies at all!!! I even browsed the scrapbook aisle and bypassed the stuff on clearance. Of course, I bought a bunch of stuff at AC Moore this weekend. It was on half price, but I spent a lot. I also needed to place a SU order, so you can see the damage below.
On the bright side, I made some baby cards and a graduation card this weekend. Also, I'm working on a scrapbook for my DD's dance teacher. Now, I've had the girls working on it as well, but they are all using my supplies. So, can I count all of their pages?

Hi everyone! I haven't stamped as much as I would have liked this month. But other than stamp club I only spent about $4 at Big lots on some cute ribbon that looks like PPomegranate and soft sky and some cute dp (that I totally did not need). I need to get some more cards made before next week for card club. But I did get some cute sets of thank yous done for my DH to send. 18 thank yous and 6 birthdays.

Lynne, I say yes, count what they use. Part of why I am doing this challenge is to use what I have...so that counts!

Well, tonight was my night to be hostess at card club and I did well restraining myself. I spent $52 on paper, 2 ink pads, a brass stencil, dots, and I got $20 free. I got some more paper and watercolor paper for my free $$. I was itching to get One of a Kind and the matching punch, but I did good! Bless my DH. He said he was planning on me spending around $120. I could have easily, but the self-discipline is actually more satisfying lately. How is everyone else out there doing? Surviving the summer heat??
