Default Stamp Pad....If you had to choose one other then basic black

If you had to choose one stamp pad other then basic black or basic brown, what would it be? What one do you use the most? I don't have any Su pads yet and want to start with basic black and basic brown , but I want to choose one more when I order, and can't decide which one to get.
Any suggestions?

I would say Night of Navy is probably the one I use the most. After that I guess Real Red and Glorious Green.

Your favorite color? I like green and my non SU stash is full of stuff that I could use. Also green is great for foliage and can be toned down with brown. I think if you get a color you like using, it would be more valuable to you.

And don't underestimate going gray especially if you do a lot of coloring. It is subtle enough to let your hard work take center stage. The link below is not SU, but I di the dress in pink and it was too much. I did it in black and it "stopped" the eye. Gray seemed perfect.

i love ballet blue! after that i would probably go with real red or old olive.
another idea, because i can't afford to just buy all of the markers and all of the inks, every time i buy an ink, i buy the matching marker to go with it, it is taking me a while, but my collection is starting to get bigger. i think i am up to 17 of each now. i will eventually get them all.

have a great day!

I use Creamy Caramel a lot for sponging effects. I also use my Old Olive pad all the time.

I use a lot of the earth elements colors.....but I would suggest a Versamark pad as a staple in addition to the basic black and basic brown. The Versamark picks up the color of whatever it is stamped on.

Hmmm, if somone said I could only have one pad with my Black or Brown, I'd probably "cheat" and get a spectrum pad, to maximize my color! I can't just pick one, I have several favorites depending on my mood.

I think the pad I use most is Versamark. With the pastels you can have all 48 colours!
You should consider what colour card stock you will use and pick two or three pads that match or coordinate. You'll see in most card 'recipes' the paper and ink are the same.
Buying the spots from one of the colour families sounds like a great way to start. I couldn't resisit and bought the whole earth elements set of classic pads. I've used them all except Garden Green.

Positively Pink! Goes great with basic black!

And I agree, Versamark is a MUST HAVE!

Hmmmmm, is there a color combo that you really favor? Or think about the type of cards you'll be making soon .... fall? ... holiday? Choose a color from your favorite combo or one to best enable your upcoming project plans!

Why not try a couple (or few) of the stamping spots? This way you'll have more colors to choose from but not have the expense of a full size pad.

Just a thought.

I use Mellow Moss as a neutral; works well for anything nature-related.

I would recommend the Versamark ink pad. You can use it on any color of cardstock (besides white and black) to create subtle backgrounds. In addition, you can use it for heat embossing and poppin' pastels with the chalks. Have fun with whatever you choose!

I second the Mellow Moss vote. You can use it with both Basic Black and Basic Brown. It is definitely one of my favorite colors. Plus it looks FANTASTIC with Not Quite Navy!

I agree with the versamark, too! Very versatile and can be used with embossing and pastels. After that, pick your very favorite color, which might be hard to do! I also like the suggestion of picking a color to do fall and/or Christmas cards with. My own favorite color is Lovely Lilac, but I am a Spring color kind of person! Good luck!

I would go with the stamping spots as well. I wish I had done that. I have some of each color family so it is too late for me now. Now if only we could get SU to make the Stampin Spots for the craft pads.

My other suggestion is the versamark pad. You can do so much with it. Emboss, watermark, pastels, etc.

I would get the stampin' spots in your favorite color family and then decide which ones you like the best.

If I had to pick one color I would probably either pick Garden Green or Mellow Moss...they are good for leaves.

With Christmas coming, I'd vote for Real Red and/or Glorious Green...or some other red/green combo. (Mellow Moss, Ruby Red; Garden Green, Rose Red; Baroque Burgandy, Forest Foliage...)

If you can spend a bit more, how about the Bold Brights spots? 12 colors, one box for $21.50. I love my spots!

My 3 faves right now are mellow moss, pale plum & perfect plum, all used together. I use this combo all the time!

Default real red

RED RED RED! What could be better? Except that many men can be color blind to it - so if you make lots of cards for men, skip red and go to brilliant BLUE!

Thanks gals for your great ideas! I would love to get them all at once ,but the budget won't allow it. I have the Versamark and refill and love it! I also have all the Stazon colors and about 6 Spectrum pads.
I kind of wanted to start with the basic SU pads to replace the cheap ink pads I got at Michaels several years ago,but just a few at a time. I like the Idea of getting the reinker to go along with the pad, that is a great idea! I was kind of leaning towards the Night of Navy ,Real Red, or one of the greens, but I love all of the bold brights and rich regals, actually I like them all but the BB and RR are my favs. Eventually I will get them all but it will take some time. I have thought about the spots ,but not sure I want to go that route.
Thanks again !
