Default Stamp made into a real TATTOO!!

OMG, last week I was at work bored so I was working on some cards. One of my customers came over and asked me what I was doing. She LOVED the stamp I was using. She asked me if I could stamp it for her on some scrap paper. So I did....she came back today to show me

SHE HAD IT TATTOO'D on her side! I couldn't believe it....

she is walking around with an SU stamp on her side(with no angel policy! LOL)

I didn't even know what to say. I can't even look at the stamp the same anymore, without visualizing it on her body!

Do you dare guess what stamp set it was?!!

Has anyone else ever heard of someone doing this?

BTW, it was the swirly stamp from Baroque Motifs.

she put it on her left side right, on her rib cage. If her arm was down, it would hide it. She had the tattoo guy add flowers thru the swirls...

I've thought about doing it myself, so it doesn't surprise me that someone else has done it. SU is SOOOOO STRICT about thier policy tho, I wouldn't be surprised if somehow they would try to say no to this KWIM?? I think it is great free advertising but whatever. Can you get a pic and upload it??

Ya know, I've been trying to decide on a tat image for me for YEARS!!! I want something that says something about who I am, something that will always be true to me.

I love my Country, football, baseball, and rubber stamping. I don't want to get sports or team logos. I could go for something Patriotic, but I haven't found anything that suits me yet. Using a stamp image is a neat idea, but I don't know that I'd want it forever.

But it makes me want to flip through my catalog again and see if anything strikes me as tattoo material!

I suppose that technically, the tattoo wouldn't be violating the copyright because the artist added flowers -- so that would make the design different. (At least that is how I would interpret the law, but I'm not a lawyer.)

I'd love to see a photo of the tattoo!!

As far as copyright goes.....I would think that since you aren't selling the image there wouldn't be anything they could do.Just thinking out loud.....

There was a thread about tattoos on the demo side a few months ago. Several demos have gotten Stampin' Up images done as tattoos and a few even shared pics. Hopefully some of those ladies will post in this thread.

I have a friend who is getting the C (cherish) from the illuminations set tattooed on her foot. It's her last initial.
I know of a few gals that had scrapping designs from Marah Johnson (pink skull & bones - bird with heart- heart with wings) Tattooed on them.

I will try to get a picture of it when I work again, probably will be a few days, don't they scab up pretty bad in the beginning!

I guess I applaud her for knowing what she likes and going for it. I tend to mull things over forever. She litereally got the stamp image from me, and then came back four days later to show me!

she said the tattoo artist asked her if she drew it, and she told him that it came from a craft catalog!

The funniest thing is, I was making Wedding Thank you's for another girl that works with me. I don't think I should tell her that her entire wedding ensemble (everything has been made with this stamp set) is now tattoo'd on one of our bar patrons!! LOL

Maybe she'll think it is a good idea too and will do the same! What a way to remember your wedding invitations!! And... it probably isn't the same bad luck as having someone's name tattooed on a body part.

I did this on my ankle with the vine from Rose Rhapsody...I have four red hearts (for my four kids) on the green vine. I had the artist connect the vine though. I took in a stamped image, he sketched in the "connections" and that was it.

About 5 years ago, I got a Stampendous stamp done as a tatoo. It's their 1999 "petite dragonfly" and it's on the small of my back. I've always loved dragonflies and when I found this funky little one, I knew it was right for me!

To those who are thinking about it...make sure it's what you want. Take your time deciding - I looked for about 2 years. Once you know it's right...GO FOR IT!!

Wow, an SU! stamp. I bet it's beautiful, but I always felt tattoos should be something very personal. I've had my youngest son's baby footprints tattooed on my calf, a "one of a kind" hand drawn calla lily (to honor my grandmother) and a "one of a kind" hand drawn turtle, which is our tribal good luck symbol. I'm not sure I'd want a tattoo of a stamp. But I sure would like to see a picture of it. I'm thinking it has to be gorgeous, and probably would change my mind! I need a nice, new image idea for my next tat.

Wow, Michelle -

It never occurred to me that you could get your baby's footprints tattooed on you. How did they do that?

I have one LARGE tattoo (nothing to do with stamping) on my upper back. It's in memory of my two daughters who passed away. It has an angel on either side of my back and then between it has their names and dates of birth/death. If I'd have known I could have had their footprints...that would have been cool (and probably much smaller!)

I don't plan on having any more in the future (ouch!) If I get the urge for a stamp tattoo...I'll do just that...stamp the sucker on there and then if I still like it when it wears off...I'll restamp it! LOL! That way you can change it when it isn't your style any more or another stamp comes along that you like better. With all of us and all of our stamp sets...I foresee bodies covered from head to toe in tattooed stamp images! Ha!

Jane, I'm so sorry about your daughters. I can't even imagine.

I took the little birth record thing they give you at the hospital that has the footprints on it to the tattoo place. They just made them smaller and slapped them on. I think they did fill in one spot a little more (drew it in a little) where his one toe was very unfilled - like they didn't put enough pressure on it (they should learn to stamp!!).

I can tell you that the back is an incredibly painful place to get a tattoo, and there probably isn't many places on the body where it hurts like that. I have two on my leg and the turtle on my back, and by far, that turtle hurt SO much more.

SU! does have a tattoo kit to stamp on skin, doesn't it? What a fantastic idea! I looked through the catty last night and saw a dozen or so images I wouldn't mind wearing. I guess I have a better way to do it now than the way that would make my mother go faint.

I still can't imagine getting a tattoo for the reason you describe. I think I'm going to go hug my kids right now. I'm so sorry. Many hugs to you, too, Jane.

Here's mine. I got it done 4 years ago. It's the smallest of the butterflies from the "Wonderful Wings" set (my absolute favorite set).

Go figure.....I passed out every time I got my ears pierced (3 holes in each ear), but sat through a 45 minute tattoo without a problem.

I'm not a huge tattoo fan, Just because if you have a tatoo put on, Then decide later on it's not your style anymore it was something you like back then which could of been years ago. Then your stuck with it. IT'S PERMANENT. Just not something for me. although many people do have them and love them.

Ah.....this is what "touch ups" are for. There are lots of tattoo studios that will tweak what you have and even do "cover ups" that are absolutely amazing. If a tattoo artist knows what they're doing, they can incorporate the design you already have and create something new and amazing out of it.....and you'd never even know what it started from.

When I got mine done, I knew it was something I would love for life. I also got it done on the small of my back, so it's not like I can see it all the time.

If they weren't so expensive, I'd have more. The way I look at is, I'm not taking this body with me, so I might as well make the most of it while I'm here. Why not display art on it? God knows I have enough canvas.

I love my Tats. I have a flaming heart on the back of my neck, under where my hair would fall when it was long..LOL, a Tinker bell silhouette on my chest and a tribal vine with roses climbing my leg. I am NOT done getting them either. My nest one is going to be something with little flowers and my kids names I think. Not sure...my DH drew this AMAZING fairy I want on my lower back but it is huge and will cost a lot of $$ to get.

If I had to pick an SU image it would have to be either the large head from Wolf. Or the flaming truck from Classic Pickups. (I'm not really a girlie kind of girl, can ya tell?..LOL)

Yah, one of my friends asked why I didn't have the copyright under my butterfly and I told her that after sitting there for 45 minutes, there was no way I was gonna sit through the copyright.

I just finished a copyright class for my master's degree. We were taught that the copy right holder is the only one who has the right to, among other things, alter their work. Not saying I agree or disagree, just FYI.

Oh I just got my first tat a few months ago..........I waited quite a long time and waited until hubby was okay with the idea. I got a Rose with a vine and a tiny butterfly in memory of my best friend who was like an older brother who died a few years ago..........I totally love it!!! I got in on my upperchest where I have plenty of "cushioning" and it didn't hurt much at all!!!

Now I want a fairy on my leg just above the ankle..........gotta save up some $$ first..........never thought about a stamp design.........hmmmmmmmmm.........interesting indeed!!!!
