Default STAMP ON GLASS ?

Is it possible to stamp on glass and have it permanent? I wanted to do something with a clear glass plate for a special BIRTHDAY PLACE SETTING for the Birthday Boy or Girl. Any help with this would be really appreciated.

I have never tried to stamp on a glass plate, but I do stamp on the back of flat glass (floral) rocks to add to cards. I use a permenant Stazon color, but you have to allow quite a bit of time for it to thoroughly dry. Maybe a rub on applicque would work for your purposes. I would be careful about my ink choices if you were doing it onto a plate that was intended to be eaten from.

StazOn ink works on glass and is permanent. You can find more information about the ink at the Tsukineko website.

Staz-On is not recommended for areas that will come in contact with food or the mouth, and is advised for decorative use only.

You might consider Pebeo Porcelain and glass paints for dinnerware purposes.

You might want to try stamping on the reverse side of the plate to avoid contact with food. This will, however, not work with words since when viewed from front, will be backwards.

here's an idea, i know it's a bit of work. stamp your words on the plate with versamark and emboss. flip over and cover the bottom of the plate with contact paper and cut out words with craft knife. it's up to you what you do at that point, but i would use glass etching cream.

forgot to add that after you're done you can flake/chip off the embossing. then you'd have a completely washable plate!

You can use alcohol inks on glass and they will be permanent... but the same issue with "food safe" as other inks... stamp on the opposite side.
