I think "Archivalness" is a word, if it's not it should be.

Here's what I did with the alphabits, punched them with 1/4" circle punch and put in the center of Shapes & Shadows pinwheel. There's another card in my gallery with the same idea, but color scheme is bold brights.

I rarely run the cs through the computer. I feel like it ends up wasting a sheet of cs for just a small piece. With Alphabits you can use the markers to color just the letters you need.

The same can be said for regular alphabet sets. So the same arguement applies...You can't get all 48 SU colors on the printer, You waste CS, My printer doesn't always cooperate, etc...
