Hello...

I'm not in SoCal (yet) we'll be moving to San Diego in June..actually dh gets there tomorrow but will probably deploy right away
Anyway...I figured since all you SoCal ladies were checking I'd hijack for a second...we have a house lined up already in zip 92111, I will have my kids going into pre-k & 1st grade & I'm FREAKING over school, right now they are in a private, small, christian, wonderful school & I hate not being there to check out the public schools...if anyone has ANY advice, help, ideas, knows any of the schools etc...can you please PM me. I've tried the sandi.net website & it runs soooooooooooooo slow & half the pages won't load, it's making me freak even more.

Thanks so much, & I hope to be able to make the next SoCal stampers event

I'd guess, though, that the public schools are pretty good in the area.

Thanks for letting me know. I hope you start to have better luck. I promise not to bug you again. Is there any churches with meeting rooms or VFW's around there. They will usually rent out the rooms.

Unfortunately for me, the church community I belong to goes to church on Saturdays. So, they are being used. If people were more available on Sundays, I could find a room very easily....

We have a place we can get for sure in Long Beach (near the 405 and 605 freeways) - same church as last time, but have been trying to hold out for Orange County. There was a possibility of Newport Beach. If we don't hear something today about that we'll need to take the Long Beach location so we don't lose it. Sorry we haven't updated you. Just been waiting.

Is Long Beach ok with everyone? It's about 20-30 minutes further for those coming from San Diego, but that much closer for anyone coming from the north.

Fabric Barn would be a big bonus side trip that anyone coming from a distance should plan! Go there in the morning with an SU color chart and go nuts buying ribbon in every color and type!!!! You can buy by the yard or roll - cheap either way, but cheaper by the full roll.

Everyone is invited. I know there are lurkers out there! Join us!!

I just cut and pasted the info I had put in the original post for the last time we got together. Fabric Barn is about 15 minutes from the church. We'll confirm the location for you in a day or so. Sorry for the delay:

This location is close to 405 Freeway, 605 Freeway, 91 Freeway just depending on where you are coming from. E-mail Jami if you need help with directions. It is very close to the Long Beach Airport Marriott if any of you want to make a really special weekend of it.

There are quite a number of places you may want to visit while in the area:
Fabric Barn - the most incredible deals on ribbon and trims by the yard and by the spool. See www.fabricbarn.com for directions
C.R. Bloomin' Stamps (this is less than 5 minutes away). See www.crbloominstamps.com
Tall Mouse Craft Store See http://www.tallmouse.com/locations/ for the Cerritos location which is about 15 minutes away
Strictly Scrapbooking (in same parking lot as Tall Mouse)
Michael's (there are 2 within about 5 minutes - Lakewood and Long Beach)

Default SHOEBOX SWAP

HELLO ALL:
If we don't participate in the shoebox swap then we are still allowed to make a trade to swap correct? Has a number been decided on the number of swaps we will prepare.
Thanks

I think you'll definitely want to do the showbox swap as the majority of the time will be spent rotating around making 10 of those projects. Does that make sense?

As far as regular swaps go...everyone as you register please indicate to Joy whether or not you want to swap so swappers will have some idea of how many to make! You can also post a message here to this thread.

Hi ladies,

I'm just butting in here, but you will want to visit Fabric Barn. My local scrap group just went in together and bought tons and tons of ribbon. One gal took a SU! sample and she was able to find some very similar at great prices.

Also, CR Bloomin' stamps has some great samples and ideas. Great place to visit.

Wish I could make it to the gathering but will be outta town then.

Have fun ladies.

Marlo is right! If you plan to go to Fabric Barn in the morning (they are not open in the evenings) be sure to give yourself plenty of time and bring a cardstock ring or something to match up colors. I would say that you would need a minimum of an hour there - maybe more. I go there regularly and can almost never get out in less than 45 minutes when I'm in a rush. You'll be able to get organdy ribbon, grosgrain ribbon, gingham, satin, metallic ribbons, cording, plus stuff like mini clothespins, magnets, cello bags, favor boxes and more. All the ribbon is available to cut yourself by the yard (you need to write down the price and how much you cut - they have little pads of paper throughout the store) or you can take a sample to the register and they will bring you the full rolls (cheaper than by the yard).

And C.R. Bloomin' Stamps is a great little stamp store!!!! If you go there please tell them Jami sent you. I went to High School with one of the owners.
