Default So many Sayings -- Hostess set

Ok I just rec'd this set and I'm looking at these 3 stamps thinking how crazy of an idea to put alllllllll those words on just THREE stamps.

http://catalogs.shoplocal.com/stampi...toreid=1038724

My demo cut her's and haven't seen the outcome yet.

But has anyone else cut them?? I'm thinking of doing just that and doing the EZmount thingy with it. And that alone scares me too

Any other suggestions?

There was someone that cut them and put them on dominoes. I also heard they go well on jenga game pieces. You can also use the word window punch if you dont want to cut them up. I ordered it as one of my free sets, I dont know that I want to cut it up. I am thinking I will just use my markers to ink up what I want until I buy the window punch.

I just got some Tack and Peel which is clear, cushioned sticky stuff, so you could peel the stamps off the cushion, cut up and use them with the T and P on a clear acrylic block.

Default Yep, cut mine up!!

Mounted mine on these "jenga" blocks I got on the clearance aisle for $3.00

I just closed a WS for a customer of mine whose a big card maker and she opted to stick with the level 1 set over the level 2. Her kids are grown and she said she has a jenga set that she will use to do this.

I cut mine and use them with my acrylic block. I thought about leaving them whole but then I would be able to see placement very well. HTH.

Me too. I find I reach for the set all the time because it is so versatile this way.

I cut mine up too. I had a co-worker cut some blocks for me and mounted them separately. Love them this way! I can't understand how someone could use them as one stamp. Some of the sayings don't "match" in the groupings.

AmyR has a great demo of how she cut hers on her blog:

It's near the end, so keep scrolling until you see the pics.

Another SCSer (a SU demo) went to her local hardware store, bought two .89 cent square dowel rods, and had her hubby cut them into different lengths to make the wood "mounts" for each phrase in the set! And they all fit in the same clamshell box they arrived in. Such an awesome idea. When I get my So Many Sayings set, thats exactly what I'm going to do with mine.

Here's a link the specific blog post where she talks about how she did it, with pictures: --> Stamp With Diane

Franb63 -- thanks so much for posting this question! I actually logged on today to post the exact same question - you beat me to it! Great answers everyone. It is does seem like it would be stupid to mount them as they are - cutting them apart makes so much sense!

I just ordered this last week and am patiently (well not so patiently) waiting for my order to come in. As soon as I saw the set I thought they had to be mounted seperately. Now I have some great ideas on how to mount them, I think I will go the dowel route from Home Depot because I think it is the cheapest, unless I can find the jenga game on sale at Target.

thanks for starting this thread.

Where did you find them on clearance and how long ago did you get them? Thank you for the great idea. I think that is what I want to do. I like the thicker handle of these over the dominoes.

One more question, did you use scissors, hot-knife, or what to cut them apart? It seems a little tricky. Not like just cutting regular sets.

Thank you!

I've already mounted my set, has anyone taken theirs off and cut them apart? Can you even do that? I'd love to put mine on square dowel. Any help would be appreciated! TIA

If it's been more than 24 hours since you mounted yours, then try to heat the stamp in the microwave for 10 seconds-if it's not removable try another 10 seconds and repeat until they come off. Apparently this will work-you would just have to mount them using another type of adhesive as the original would have worn off.

I know we all cut them up but I am wondering SU's intention in making the stamp. I don't get it....I could understand a big row with common themes but this was so odd.

I think the intention was to have one stamp be extraordinarily versatile. Having a couple dozen sentiments on a block makes it convenient to have them all together like that, and just needs a stamp positioner to line up images where you want them.

Having said that, lol, I did cut mine up and put them on the dominos. Be advised that if you buy a small set of dominos, like one of those starter sets in a tin, there are NOT enough to do the whole set.

finally got a chance to mount mine last night. I bought the dowels at Home Depot and cut them over a week ago but hadn't had the time to cut the stamps and mount them. Now they are done and I can start using them.

thanks again for starting this thread and for all the wonderful ideas.

What great ideas! I was going to just place a small order this month and save my money, but now I will try to boost it up to $150 so I can get that great set!

My demo told me that this set was designed to be used with the word window punch. (Ink up one phrase with marker, stamp and cut out w/punch).
That explains why some of the phrases don't sound right together!
I'm getting mine tomorrow. I'm going to cut apart, mount on EZ Mount, and use with acrylic blocks!

I already mounted mine (on the wood it came with), is it too late for me to peel off and cut to stick someplace else? What do I need to maket his work well for me? (jenga blocks sounds like a good idea but what do I stick with?)

thanks!

Throw one stamp in the microwave on high for about 5 seconds. If it doesn't peel off easily, give it a few more seconds. Then cut and put on your new blocks. It should still be sticky, so you don't need anything else.
