Default So, I finally have the SU World Map background stamp.

Now what do I do with it?!

There are no samples in the gallery, and even a google images search doesn't turn up much. I tried one thing and wasn't happy with it at all. Has anyone done (or seen) anything neat with this stamp (or a similar one)?

Thanks,

Hi There! You might want to take a look at the Schooner gallery. It's also a SU stamp. The second card there has a map type background. Have a great day...I'm wanting to locate that retired Schooner set!

Great! I knew there must be something similar, but I didn't know the name.

Thank you,

Try Google Image for "cards with map stamps." Sometimes a stamp is too new too bring up a lot of hits by its own name. Don't know how new this stamp is.

Also try "cards made with old maps." Whether you use a map stamp or an actual piece of an old map, the idea is the same.

Also try Papertrey Ink World Map - they make a map stamp and there are some nice designs you can see through that search that might kickstart your creative mojo.

Keep in mind, the world map stamp was just released to be ordered since there was an error on it. A LOT of people wanted that stamp so I am sure there will be some amazing samples soon! It is on my wish list!!!

And the stamp in all it's non-PC glory is in the first batch of new catalogs, including mine. But I wish the stamp was of the entire world in landscape layout. I'm looking at other brands for one of those.

I was really curious about the offending term and didn't want to ask here and require someone to repeat it, so I researched it online. Wowza. How on earth could THAT have gotten missed? I don't care how small the writing was. I assume when a company makes a stamp, they actually look throughly at the image before sending off to be manufactured. And the fact that it was an old historical map they were replicating should have been a tip off and made them triply careful.

I read SU's official "apology" on a demo website. Too little too late IMO. And they aren't immediately and automatically reshipping new and corrected catalogs to everyone? I think that's very bad damage control. All catalogs with that stamp showing that word should be replaced ASAP so that as few people as possible see it. Instead, demos are supposed to just say "Oh, yeah, that's been fixed. Your stamp won't say that."?

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. These are the same folks who sell a stamp that misquotes the lyrics of a James Taylor song. The secret of life is not enjoying the "passing" of time. It's the "passage" of time. That's merely sloppy, though (and it kept me from buying the stamp, which I would have if it had been correct). This is outright offensive.
