I recently got my slit punch, and was using it today to make a gift card enclosure. If I punch it much more than an 1/8" into the cardstock I get an impression of a small circle, about the size of an eyelet, at the base. It happens even if I use a gentle touch. Has anyone experienced this?
I just got mine out and tried it. Worked just fine, no hole at the base. I like it but what I have trouble with is lining up the punch so that they are even on both sides. I am sure there is an easy way of doing this and when I see it I'm going to go DUH!

I figured this out totally by accident...there are two little plastic nodules (is this a word?) on both sides of the slit punch. Those represent where the arch cut starts and ends on the other side. Does this make sense? So when I was doing my gift card holders, I put the card in the center of the part I wanted to attach it, and I used light pencil lines on the two ends. Then when I inserted the punch on the cardstock, I lined up the nodules and the pencil marks, then punched. So the card was centered and I knew the card would fit!

Mine does the same thing, but the one I got my mom doesn't.
Thanks norwaytroll. I get it know. Did not even notice marks on the side of the punch. DDDDDDDUUUUUUHHHHHH! So sorry 11Valerie11 did not mean to highjack your thread.

OOOOpppps, sorry Valerie. I meant to answer your post too. My slit punch doesn't make that indent you mentioned. Sorry. I would call DS. The last time my customer had a problem with her corner rounder punch, they sent her a new one ASAP!! Give it a try!
Slit Post Update: I called DS and they are sending me a new one. Apparently there has been some issues with this happening. A first for me, though, I have to send the old one back. It will cost me about as much to return it as it was to buy it! In the past, not that I have done it all that much, they usually say to just keep the item in question. On the positive side, at least I'm getting a new one!
Thanks everyone! The form I just printed out has a postage paid label to attach to the return. I hope the replacement one gets here faster than the one I had backordered forever!
I'm glad (well, glad for me) that I just read this. I got my punch back in December and just used it and found the little small circle under my punch, too. Unfortunately, I threw out the little bag that it came in, so SU may not return it for me. At least I know it's not supposed to be there. Teaches me to not use my new toys when I get them.

Just keep them wrapped until you do! I think you have a certain amount of time after receiving your order to request an exchange.

Hey! I am glad I read this. I thought it was just me. Mine makes the hole, too. I am going to call DS tomorrow. As I understand it, if it is defective, they should replace it. Do you really need the original packaging?
No, you don't need the original packing. I waited until I got the new one, which was within a couple of days, and just used the same box, shipping label removed, to return the defective one to them.
Valerie,
Thanks for posting this! I just used mine last night for the first time and have that very same problem! I am glad to know it is a defect because I was really bothered by that!
I'm calling DS Monday. However, it has been awhile since I got mine. I think I ordered it right when they became available in October(?).
Thanks for the info, everyone! This helped me a lot!

Thanks for the info. Mine does that too! I didn't know this was considered defective. I just got mine this passed week, so there shouldn't be any issue with returning it.
After reading this post, I called DS and they sent me a new one no questions asked and I didn't even have to send back the defective one. I ordered mine in October and didn't receive it until December. Good Luck!
Dittos on the slit punch making those funny round marks...I just figured it was bad design and knew I was "stuck" with it. I, too, bought it in Oct. and tossed the original wrapping. As a result I've not used it because i wouldn't take a chance of muffing a completed card during the holiday season when I didn't have time to re-do it.
I'll call my demo and see if it can be replaced - thanks for sharing your experiences. With this much info, I won't sound like a total nut case when I call about it
I got mine back in November & it did the same thing. Called DS & they are sending a new one out & told me to toss the one I have, no need to send it back. Toss it? Is he seriuous? I could never toss it even if it does leave that little mark. I was thinking it would probably still be ok to use on dark CS. I just can't bring myself to throw it away.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!! I too thought it was supposed to be there. I'll be calling DS first thing tomorrow. Thanks for setting me straight!
Boy, I haven't checked this post in a while..........I wonder how many of those defective punches are out there? This is obviously the tip of the iceberg of known ones, and so much so that SU! doesn't even want the old ones back anymore...........
Mine does this as well. I just got my punch last month.
I have been using it upside down. So that the underside of the punch is facing up, if that makes sense. This way the mark is on the underside of the cardstock and isn't as visible.
Mine did the round mark thing too, so I called DS and received a replacement. However, the replacement does the same thing. I called DS yesterday and the guy said that I was pushing my paper too far in. It isn't supposed to go all the way to the back. I've always pushed the paper all the way to the back of a punch so this sounded a little strange but he was adament. If you hold the punch up and look through the side as you make the punch you can see a little round something come down with the punch. It sounds like they all probably do this but just depends on how far in you push your paper.

Yeah! It gives me hope that there are punches out there that don't do this and hopefully I'll get one of those as my replacement when I call rather than another that does it!
