Ok so I need some advice on how to do something.. Have some friends whom I tease endlessly about me living in Florida and it always being sunny/hot and thought I would use this set
for my card to them... BUT i was thinking of putting some real sand from the beach on it .. how would you suggest it get stuck to the card and hold without it falling off in the envelope??
You could try the ALENES TACKY GLUE, as I think this is close to what they use for the flower soft stuff. It's sturdier than just elmers, or something to that effect. Let us know how this works!!
the sookwang tape used for the micro glitter would work well too. Just make sure to burnish over the sand. I think this is going to make a lovely card.
Or even carpet tape. Cut an irregular shape and put sand on it. Whatever you use, make sure to press it down really well (think steam roller, lol!) to get it good and stuck. Then maybe let it set up for several hours before trying to mail it so the glue has a good chance to harden. I do hope you take pictures, lol! We wanna see!
I've even seen faux sand made with KRAFT card stock and a grater, I do not know who came up with it, it was here on SCS of course. But if I find the creator I will edit and post her name. She rolled up a piece of CS real loosely and scrapped on a metal cheese grater. I did this for my son's Turkey pirate project for kindergarten, worked great and looked good. Just another option if you can't get the sand to work the way you want it to.
Maybe it would serve them right if you would put sand on the card and then just a little bit more for good measure that ISN'T stuck :>) (visualize sand all over their table and floor when they open it!!!)
I've done a simple square window with the shaker set under the card front and an image stamped inside the shaker window. Does that make sense?
Have fun, whatever you decide to do.

Could you just hand tear some fine sandpaper? I think that would be the easiest and you would have to worry about the real sand not staying stuck to the paper.
Did this once with a beach scene. My daughter lives in the San Diego area. Both she & her husband surf so many of their cards are beach scenes.
I just marked the beach area with a light pencil line, then spread a thin layer of liquid adhesive on, and poured the sand over. It stuck very well... no sand shaking off. Just be quick about it.

I used regular white glue to glue on craft sand. Here's the card I made for last year at Christmas and I still have one and the sand is still stuck. You have to burnish the sand on and I let it dry with some plastic over top under a heavy book so it didn't warp.
I am up on my soapbox, on behalf of all beach lovers. Please do not use real sand in craft projects. For sand on cards or scrapbook pages I use craft store sand and sometimes add glitter. I use sticky sheets to adhere it or if it is a stamped image, I use caramel craft ink and heat-n-stick powder. The card in post #13 is a wonderful example.
Why the plea for no-real-sand?
1. Beach sand has living microorganisms and can spoil, even mold. Yuck.
2. The beach is a fragile eco system and needs stay where and how it is.
Thanks for listening!

I was also thinking the card would be heavy with real sand.
I have an embossing sand powder and really like it.
