Default Ribbon Tip!

You all might know about this, but I just wanted to share in case you don't! I think SU has the best deal on ribbon because of how much you get on a roll. Offray ribbon at WalMart is usually 3 yards on a spool - yes, it's cheap, but price per yard?! SU is cheaper. Also, it's so much nicer - Offray grosgrain is stiffer and not as nice to work with. You can also do a Ribbon Share with your friends if you don't want/need 25 yards of one color ribbon.

ANYWAY... My point was to tell you that if you have SU's White or Organdy ribbon, you can make it any of our 48 colors! Cut your length of ribbon, put it on your inkpad, put your finger on top of the ribbon on the inkpad, and pull the ribbon between your finger and the inkpad. Voila! It won't be a bright color, but very subtle - and very nice! When it's tied or knotted, the color intensifies and it looks so nice! If you want it a bit darker, just repeat a few times.

Someone else mentioned that you can also do this with white grosgrain, but I haven't tried that yet.

I love SU's ribbon. Also you can use two colors to make your ribbon coordinate even better with your inks and cardstock. Just slide one side of the ribbon on one color and then take the other side and slide it over the other color. I belive I used eggplant envy and old olive one time. It is so nice looking. The colors will blend slightly together in the middle. It is a beautiful look. Has anyone tried the grosgrain?

I believe too, that SU ribbon is the best deal! The cost may seem high initially but, when you do a cost breakdown SU comes out a better deal. I love that their colors coordinate with the cardstock and inks.

I have sponged Chocolate Chip ink on the white grosgrain to give it an "aged" look. Works very well. Thanks for the info comparing SU to other brands--I thought SU offered a good deal! But then, I am an SU nut!

I have some elderly customers from my church who don't stamp, but buy ribbon from me. They think it is the best deal around!!

Hands down Stampin' Up! has the BEST ribbon! I've compared my Stampin' Up! ribbon to a couple of spools I bought from Walmart and it's NOT the same at all! AND, it works out to be the same price or cheaper to buy Stampin' Up!

I've run the white grosgrain over the ink pads and it's turned out beautiful!! I've never tried running one color on one side and another color on the other side, like Taminnc. That's a great tip!

Love the SU ribbon--hope there will be more gingham colors in the new catty!

I even checked out M and the other craft stores when I first started stamping. Hands down, SU! has the best quality ribbon. The others are hard to tie and don't feel as nice. I have a whole box in the closet to prove it! I guess it will go to Goodwill.

I have stamped small image stamps on the white grosgrain ribbon. It sometimes bleeds a little, but is so cute coordinated with your project. That was using the classic ink, but if you use the craft ink it shouldn't do that.

I have also stamped it with Itty Bitty Backgrounds and made it polka dot. I love that! Here is a card I used that on:

I have done it with white grosgrain as well. I LOVED that if you use a light touch-some white still shows through around the outside. Just a thin line. It looked COOL (if I may say so myself ).

Imagine the possibilities of making your ribbon anything you want...By using the background stamps you can make just about any pattern to coordinate with the project at hand....one question though, can you stamp on the organdy ribbon...and can you emboss on the grograin...Wow, I need to learn how to count...that was 2 questions.

I saw a card in the gallery last night (I think it was posted early last week, like Monday or Tuesday) that had stamped organdy ribbon. I figure if we can ink the ribbon to change its color, we can definitely stamp on it!

Another way to color the ribbon is to use the brayer (found that tip from SU! in the big IB&C)

You can stamp with the craft ink on the organdy ribbon. I haven't tried images, but . . . that's an idea. I have done wonderful words though.

Thanks, I was curious, and now I think I need both of those sets that you used on that card. Gonna have to dig out some more pennies from that stash I have that no one knows about...but don't tell anyone!

You ladies ROCK!!! These ideas are sooo inspiring. I'll have to try some tonight as soon as I get home from work. DH & DS can find something for dinner on their own.

I love SU ribbon. It is the best quality, without a doubt (I have used all the others) and the best price. Even the stuff at Michaels is only cheaper when it is half off.

I learned a neat trick for coloring my ribbon with the ink pads. Wrap a piece or scotch tape around your index finger before sandwiching the ribbon bwtween the pad and your finger. Now pull the ribbon through. It's a lot less messy that way!!! Nan

I love all these ribbon tips. Keep them coming!

I recently tried markers on the gingham ribbon and I liked the look. Here is a card I made with it:

http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...cat=500&page=1

I can't wait to try two colors on the organdy, and inking grograin.

Another way to keep your fingers clean is to use an sponge or sponge dauber. But for me, I'm proud of inky fingers!
