Default Ribbon Storage: Finally Found Something!

Maybe you girls have seen this system before, but I'm too excited so I have to share these pics with you!!! I actually heard about these little cards and drawers from Cropper Hopper here on SCS and I checked them out on ebay here (which by the way, this seller was awesome! I even ordered the wrong size cards but she noticed and took care of everything!!!). I got my order in two days and that night I went home and threw away spools, paper cards, little baggies and other things holding my ribbon together... unknotted tons of unorganized ribbon and filed them like so! I even filed my twill tape and when I get another drawer I'm going to file my hemp, fibers, and cording too. I know ribbon storage has been a big topic here and everyone prefers something different, but for me, this is it so I thought I'd share some photos!

Hooray! I might have to look into that....Considering I just had a ribbon "accident" yesterday. I dumped my whole basket of ribbon. I had spools everywhere. My dd asked if we were starting a new project. LOL

LOL I love your user name!!! wish I though of that first!!!!
That's totally me! Except I think I'm more of a crankymommyof2

The ribbon storage is a neat idea, you could probably make some out of cardstock?? Or is it plastic??
Glad you found something that works for you! I have bobbin type things but there to small!

I've got almost the same thing, but I have the smaller drawers and ribbon cards. I think now I should have gotten the larger size like you because my larger spools of ribbon don't fit on the smaller ribbon cards...sigh...but I don't think Cropper Hopper made the larger size when I was doing my organizing!!

Default I like the CraftLockers

:-D I LOVE my CraftLocker Storage sytem...they are all uniform sizes designed to fit together well. I especially like how the doors open and then slide back into the sides of the box to keep them out of your way. I have the ribbon keeper and it is great...I will be getting the rest soon(-:

 Beth, I looked at the Craft Locker when iw as in an Archivers and they seemed kinda flimsy to me for the cost. What do you think?

My LSS has a WALL full of those new CH drawers and such and DANG it's purty!!

I too also bought the ribbon cards for my unspooled ribbons. When you buy from some places or ribbon buys they do not come with spools, and the ribbon cards are SUPER! I bought them online from www.scrapinsanity.com
I got 8 packs of 10 ribbon cards and 2 boxes to hold them in. Shipping was very fast and the service was great! Just another option on where to buy them!
For my rolls of ribbon I use this:

Those look great! So nice and neat and organized and easy to see and to get to. I have mostly spools so I just bought the SU ribbon organizers and LOVE them. I might have to get this, though, for the hemp and un-rolled stuff! Thanks for sharing! I just love seeing what other people have done to organize...helps get my wheels turnin' for my own organization!

Default ribbon locker

I got my ribbon locker here:

http://stores.ebay.com/7-Kids-Paper-...QQftidZ2QQtZkm

Also, I have the ink and marker lockers. Each locker fits 24 SU pads or 48 other pads, plus markers. It's totally cool. I like to have storage containers that are the same size so that my craft area doesn't look like I'm having a garage sale with things thrown in every different sized container and box laying around.

OK, the truth is, my craft area doesn't look like a garage sale...it looks like something you'd see on an episode of "COPS" regardless of the craft lockers. But, I appreciate cleanliness and strive for it, even though I don't actually achieve it.

I use a photo box for all of my ribbon storage.
I can hold about 20 bolts of ribbons in each of them,
And since they have a cover for them I can close them up. and keep the ribbon from getting dusty.

The one shown in this picture has the cover off of it.
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
And the other thing is I can stack them.

how does it stay rolled? pins? I have a million bits of ribbon without the spool, so this might suit me....

To answer the last two questions:

1> I bought the 3x3 box and the 3x3 cards. They have a smaller set too, but IMO you can't go wrong with the 3x3's!

2> Yes, they stay rolled with these little plastic clips. They are made by Cropper Hopper specifically for this setup, but I'm sure a regular sewing pin would work just fine. [You can see my clips here]

I just use a pin with a ball at the end for holding my ribbon onto my ribbon cards. Works great for me, and I don't have to try and get the ribbon clips on correctly

This thread just caught my eye because Hobby Lobby sells the little drawers! I just bought two little drawers and they didn't not have any of the coordinating ribbon cards, so the lady there nicely ordered some for me!

My ribbon is stored in the following ways:
*basic solids, ginghams, and dotteds are in gutters for quick viewing and grabbing!
*ribbon scraps are in spice jars on my work table for quick grabbing
*I've got ric rac in a jar 'cause it looks so cute
*other collections that are patterned and less-often used will go in the ribbon drawers.

Basically, I've got ribbon oozing out of every nook and cranny in my office! It's pathetic, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

By the way, Michael's got in some really pretty ribbons recently. They were on an endcap a few aisles over from the ribbon. I saw these cool jars up on a shelf with a picture of spools of ribbon inside and the spools of ribbon were beneath the jars. Lots of coordinating velvets, patterns etc.

You can get the CraftLocker and the ribbon clips from Joann.com
I waited until there was a 50% coupon and ordered one at a time thru them!

You're no dummy!!! :-D Thats what I originally ordered thinking they would fit (which they would, like you said) but the ebay seller contacted me to see if I would prefer the 3x3's instead. Since I knew nothing about these, I just went with her recommendation... but I almost did the same thing!
