Default Resigned as SU demo/need selling advice

After nearly 7 years, I recently resigned my SU demonstratorship and started a stamping/scrapbooking supply store online. I have literally thousands and thousands of dollars of SU supplies I need to get rid of, many unloved and current. You'd think I'd know this but now that I am no longer a demo, what are the rules, if any, about selling them online? I know I can't sell current stuff here on SCS and I'd rather avoid eBay if I can. I was thinking of adding them as a clearance section to my store website but can I do this or will SU come after me? I don't think they can since I am no longer active but I don't want any trouble.

Thanks for any input!

I think you can sell the stuff in your store with no problems at all. As long as you are not a demo, you are a private citizen and can market them as you wish.

You could also see if there are any new demos in your area that have recently signed up. This way they get their supplies, you get rid of the goods, and there's no shipping involved. HTH!

If SU! sicks their big lawyers on me, will you help defend me? You're a big time lawyer, right?

I've seen SU stamps sold in scrapbook stores. They were older ones, although I can't be sure they were retired, but ultimately they are your property and you can do whith them as you wish. Do you have a list of everything you have?

No, I haven't compiled it and probably about 75% of it is current so I can't post it here on SCS. Literally, I have a box of stuff I ordered & mounted from the new catty ($600 order) that went back in the box after I mounted it and hasn't been touched. I think I'll end up just sticking it up on my store in its own little section.

I need to do it soon...I need the room!

Thanks for all the input.

Another good idea that is free would be your local Craigs list...I have sold so many things there. It has always been a good experience for me.
Good luck.

I have too but with the change they made a few months ago, selling items for $5 or so, they kill you with fees. Plus it takes SO much time to list each thing and then they all close at the same time and then I have to ship 50+ packages all at once. Doesn't sound like fun to me.

Craigslist...interesting idea. I've only bought big items through there - stuff that couldn't be shipped. I'll think about that one. Thanks for the idea, sprtchick!

Sell it in the BST forum here. As long as it is not current, you can do that, and 99 percent of the people there are great to deal with. I've bought and traded a lot there!

Is that anything like "I'm not a lawyer, but I played one on TV"?

BTW, like the new photo, Joan!

Good for you Kate! Good luck with all of this! When I had my moving sale everyone said I should have started earlier so I could have put things on Craigs List. I had to move fast so there wasn't time. But definitely look into that. You can sell them however you wish. Who knows?? You could even put an ad in the paper.....

About 75% of my stuff is current so this won't work.

Thanks all of you for your input. I've got the info I was looking for!

I'd be interested in seeing your list . I'm looking for a few hostess sets and sets from a couple of mini catalogs, that I haven't been able to find.

I'd suggest adding a SU stamp sale post on your blog listing the sets and prices- of course that's if you can sell current sets- the jury is still out on that one. Good luck!

I think the jury has spoken. A non demo is free to sell current sets. SCS does not permit its website to be used for this purpose, but otherwise, SU does not prohibit former demos or customers from selling current product.

If I'm wrong, somebody correct me!!!

I'd recommend craigslist as well. It's free to list so no harm if they don't sell. I know I check craigslist for Stampin' Up stuff.

Thank you! It's been great so far! I know it was risky to start this in the middle of the financial mess now but this was planned many, many months before everything started to tank. Just keeping my fingers crossed now!!!

Thanks to everyone's replies. I have posted a list on my blog and will be putting it also on Craigslist. Thanks!

Mods, can you close this thread so things don't go in a direction they shouldn't on here? Thanks!
