Default RAKs: I've learned my lesson!

Wow...all those cards I MEANT to send...

After hearing the story about Jennifer and how all your cards meant so much to her in her final lucid days ("holding cards she received from Maine to California made her feel like she was getting hugged from coast to coast.") I printed out her address but never got around to making her a card in the rush of the holidays.

Listening to Nate Berkus on Oprah this morning and how he lost his partner Fernando in the tsunami (and barely survived himself). He said he would go to bed each night with a stack of cards from well-wishers and it was the only thing that made him feel comforted enough to fall asleep.

All the BRAKs I received last summer that still make me smile today.

Lesson learned: Never underestimate the power of a card and a "You're on my mind"!

My (belated) New Year's Resolution: send more RAKs. It does make a difference!

I totally agree. I signed up with the RAK group cause I wanted to make cards but didn't know what to do with them then. Well now I have all these cards to make but I'm going to make to RAK"s tonight. That is my goal and to actually send them out tomorrow.

Nothing makes my day like something delightful coming in the mail out of the blue! I have to get more RAK's out, too!

I love receiving Rak's in the mail! I've sent out many more than I've received but it's just as rewarding! It makes me feel good knowing that I may be brightening up someone's day plus it's a great way to use my cards. I know fellow stampers appreciate the time and work that goes into them.

Default RAKs: I've learned my lesson.

I know how much a card of encouragement would mean to a 12 year old little boy named Brandon who is suffering from Cystic Fibrosis.
He was admitted to Children's Hospital in Michigan today. He is in good spirits despite being poked and prodded and x-rayed. Tubes and IV's will be added later today. On Thursday he faces surgery to put in a feeding tube. He is a brave but yet very scared little boy. Not fun being so sick.
He LOVES to get mail..It would be so greatly appreciated if all of you could send him a card to brighten his day. It is very lonesome having to be in the hospital and in an isolation room.

Please send them to

Brandon Stubli
6470 Rouget Rd.
Palmyra, MI 49268

His grandmother will take them to him and it will bring a GREAT BIG SMILE TO HIS FACE... Thank you so much !

Thanks for posting this. I have been meaning to jump on the RAK wagon for awhile and your post was the straw... off to join the RAK group.

I too have been meaning to send more RAKs but seem to run out of time. I can honestly say, that coming home from work today and finding two RAKs in the mail just made my day! So, I am going to spend some time this weekend to get going on a long over do stack of RAKs!

Thanks for posting this thread and encouraging me to get moving!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Eileen

Default RAKs needed

Oh boy, your post really got to me. It's so true that so many of us get involved in our own lives and we forget that a small kindness means so much to others. Even a smile can brighten someones day, just think how much a RAK will do for someone. Thanks for the kick in the pants.

On the other side of the coin:

I must share a remark made to a stampin friend who gave a handmade card for Christmas - "oh yes I received that card you made out of construction paper!!!!!" My friend was devastated, as you can imagine...but we're now giggling about it. It takes all kinds, huh?
